Great day visiting the countryside
Our guide for the day was Spyros. He was fun, lively, full of information, and it was important to him that we had a good day. We started at Knossos. He gave us an hour to walk around the grounds. He knew that two cruise ships were coming into the area, so we went here first to avoid the crowds. If you can go to the National Archaeological Museum a day or two before your visit here. It will make it more special. He drove us to an area with dozens of windmills where grain would have been milled. One of the mills has been restored , so you can see what the others would have looked like. Stopped at a farm and picked strawberries to go with the white wine that Spyros had for us. Went my a small plant that produced olive oil. We had an olive oil tasting. They make raki at this place of which we had a sample. Had coffee/tea at a tiny village where the 80 year old owner had worked for years. Stopped by a potter’s studio. My husband made a pot with the artist’s suggestions. We hiked up to a cave that was the birthplace of Zeus. Then walked down to the bottom of the cave observing all the stalactites that were lit up. We stopped for lunch at the is lovely place with beautiful plants on the grounds. We had a terrific lunch on their veranda. Spyro stopped along the way to bring us samples of wild herbs to smell. It was a lovely day. Thank you, Spyro. We are at present sitting on a beach that you recommended and it is wonderful.

Spyros, our driver and guide was very engaging & knowledgeable. We had many stops where he explained things as well as when we drove by. At the Cave of Zeus, he told us there approximately 400 steps. I chose not to go into the cave because of knee issues. The other couple who were our tour mates stated when they returned, there was more than 400 steps to the cave. They also mentioned it was a steep climb to get to the cave area. Spyros saved me money and being frustrated because I might not have been able to make it. His recommendation for dinner, Seli Ambelou was an excellent choice at the end of the tour. Spyros was an efficient, kind, & personable guide. Thank you for an awesome day Spyros. RMJackson

Great Tour with Jason! He was very informative and pleasant with an incredible sense of humor. The tour showed you a part of Crete that most tourists don’t see. You travel high into the mountains and experience views you are unable to see otherwise. And, lunch was wonderful . I highly recommend this tour.

Cool way to spend a day!
Great way to spend a Greek morning or afternoon.. This is just a boat trip to the island and back ...you will only see the island from the boat... unless you swim to it. For my favorite part! My crew was the best! It was my mom's first time on a boat and she enjoyed it very much! Thank you so much!

Crete’s capital and largest city, Heraklion, sits not far from the center of the island’s north coast, meaning you can reach anywhere in Crete on a day trip—while ferries will bring you as far afield as Santorini. Some of the top Heraklion day trips include sailing to uninhabited Dia Island, off-road safaris through villages and olive groves, hiking the 10-mile (16-kilometer) Samaria Gorge, and heading west to Chania Old Town or pink-tinted Elafonisi Beach. From the Lassithi Plateau windmills to the fortress isle of Spinalonga, Heraklion makes the perfect base.
