What are people saying about Heraklion

AMAZING, Fun Experience !
Please hear me when I say, even though you will read countless reviews of how great Mike is as a host & guide, none of them do proper justice to how truly impressive he is during this excursion. The whole itinerary is packed with incredible sightseeing, delicious foods, and fun learning experiences, but without feeling overwhelming or tiring. The transportation is very comfortable, and Mike fills the driving time with encyclopedic knowledge applied to the day’s agenda. As a tour guide, Mike was punctual, very friendly, and deeply insightful. He has an endless first-hand knowledge and enthusiasm for the local Cretan history, culture, food, economy, etc. Mike was also engaging and asks questions along with answering all of our questions. The lunch break at Tzanakis Michael was one of the best meals we had on our entire trip, while also providing beautiful views overlooking the plateau. The personal walking tours through smaller villages and a coffee break were an added bonus to an already stacked itinerary. I cannot recommend this excursion enough, it was a truly delightful way to spend a day on Crete.

Wonderful way to see Crete & Enjoy a beautiful sunset
Wow what an experience! Getting picked up in an old fashioned original Land Rover and taken through the Cretan hills before on top of a beautiful sunset spot. Chance to meet some of the locals including Lucy the hill goat, and finished off with a lovely dinner at a local Greek taverna. If you are lucky enough to get Michael as your guide you’re in for a treat. Great knowledge of the area, fantastic driver and even better DJ… mixing music to the experience and road type as you ascend the mountains. Great value for money and great way to spend an evening!!

An Outstanding Tour with the Best Guide in Crete!
Without a doubt, this was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece, and Stavros made it truly unforgettable. We started a bit earlier than our scheduled time and right from the get go, Stravos’ energy, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for Crete were contagious. He brought every place to life with fun facts, stories, history, mythology, and cultural insights. He not only shared his insights about Knossos Palace and the legend of Zeus, but also about Greece’s history, traditions, everyday life, and even connections to the world history. We visited Knossos Palace, traditional villages, windmills, local farms, amazing olive oil factory, a beautiful coffee stop, and enjoyed an authentic Cretan lunch. Along the way, Stavros stopped by multiple times to point out interesting trees, fruits, plants, and local landmarks that we would have otherwise driven right past. He was also very generous and stopped by view points to take pictures for us. Those unexpected moments made the experience even more special. What really stood out was how interactive and engaging he was. He encouraged questions, shared personal stories and made learning fun. His kindness, sense of humor, and incredible knowledge kept the energy high throughout the entire day. It felt like exploring Crete with a knowledgeable local friend who truly loves his island. Thank you, Stavros, for an amazing day and for the wonderful memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.

Great day out
We had the best day with our driver Apostolos who was very knowledgeable about Crete sharing stories and showing us sites. We visited the Knossos plateau which was lovely to see, then we went to the olive oils factory where we tasted various olive oils and then we traveled to Zues caves which were out of this world along with having lunch traveling to various villages and having a lovely coffee stop in a local ladies living room style coffe stop. All activities were well organised and were fabulous. Would 100% recommend. Thank you

Crete’s capital and largest city, Heraklion, sits not far from the center of the island’s north coast, meaning you can reach anywhere in Crete on a day trip—while ferries will bring you as far afield as Santorini. Some of the top Heraklion day trips include sailing to uninhabited Dia Island, off-road safaris through villages and olive groves, hiking the 10-mile (16-kilometer) Samaria Gorge, and heading west to Chania Old Town or pink-tinted Elafonisi Beach. From the Lassithi Plateau windmills to the fortress isle of Spinalonga, Heraklion makes the perfect base.
