Fabulous day
It was a great day out despite the hot weather. We had two stops of 90 mins before the boat ride to Spinalonga. Elounda and Agios Nickolas were lovely places to stop and look around. I loved the boat ride over to Spinalonga. The island was so interesting. Fantastic value for money and would highly recommend the excursion if you are in Crete.

Amazing family experience
Amazing guide Katerina. So much patience for our two kids (9 and 12) who are not used to walk around archeological sights and museums… she was so engaging and took good care of the family. Nikos was also great. Cold water waiting for us, very nice guy and helped move us around between locations. Thank you!

Great day tour in Crete
Stavros was a terrific guide on our full day tour of Knossos & Lasithi Plateu Villages Tour. He kept us informed and entertained with his humor throughout the day. The highlights for sure were learning about how to select the best olive oil, hiking up and entering the beautiful Zeus cave, and seeing Knossos Palace. Definitely consider this tour if you are visiting the island of Crete.

Kourtaliotiko Gorge, Prevali Beach, Taverna Dionyssos Tour
"Fantastic" is the best word to describe this tour. George was very professional throughout the experience, from the pickup to returning us back to our apartment. His van was very comfortable, too.
The drive to the gorge was long, and George filled the time with commentary about the landscape and culture. He is quite informed about the history and, despite our visiting the archeological museum earlier in the week, was able to provide an outstanding summary of the island's history over the past 7000+ years. George gave the occasional "quiz" to see if we were paying attention.
We stopped for coffee at a small cafe -- nice, quiet location and excellent coffee. George also treated us to sesame and honey snack bars (Pasteli).
As recommended, we prepurchased our entry tickets to the gorge -- this made entry seamless and quick, although there were no other people waiting when we arrived. We followed the steep steps (be forewarned as you'll need to climb back up later) down into the gorge. At the bottom, the only way to see the waterfalls is to swim in the very cold spring water, about 50m. Did I mention the water was very cold?! We took advantage of the waterproof bags for our mobile phones, and this allowed us to take some photos of the waterfalls. George watched our belongings during this time. We toweled off, then climbed back out of the gorge. Although not essential, some people wore wetsuits to reduce the chilling effects of the cold water.
For our next stop we chose to stop at Preveli Beach and palm tree forest. You need to climb more steps up and over a hill to get to the beach (about 15 minutes), and it was worth it. The river from the gorge flows across the beach, and there is plenty of shade under the trees. After about an hour of wading in the river and the sea, we headed back to the meet up point.
On our return trip to Heraklion, we stopped at Taverna Dionyssos in the mountain village of Myrthios for lunch. We were treated to a preview in the kitchen of the daily specials which, of course, we had to order. Lunch was fantastic!
We were staying in the heart of Heraklion and George delivered us almost to our front door, saving us a 15 minute walk from our original pickup location.
Later that evening, George sent a WhatsApp message with a summary of our day. What an unexpected and welcome surprise!
We absolutely and highly recommend George as a guide, and this tour was outstanding.

Must pick
Mike was great company and so full of knowledge. The private tour is the way to go and worth every penny. He timed things perfect to avoid crowds and the heat. We learned so much about the area and history of Crete. We got to see and do so much in 1 day.

5 star day
5 stars for a 5 star day! Olga and Yannis were both great and the food Olga made while we were docked at Dia was some of the best we've had on our 3 week trip! You could snorkel or paddle board if you wanted, the water was too cold for this Arizona girl so I stayed on the boat to sunbathe. Great day trip to see more beautiful parts of Greece!

Absolutely Incredible Tour!
This was single handedly the most fantastic tour I’ve ever been on. Our tour guide and driver Daryl was just incredible. He’s personable, funny, a great driver, and brought us to the best parts of Crete that I never would have been able to see or get to on my own. He taught me so much about Crete I never would have known either. He drove us to some of the highest mountaintops on the island, taking the most remote roads that I never would have been able to navigate or drive on myself. My group and I got to see some of the best hidden Greek mountain towns and see the most incredible landscapes I’ve ever seen in my life. I really wanted to get to know the local culture coming to Crete, and that’s exactly what Daryl brought us to. Our group was 4 couples as well and he happily helped take photos of all of us with our partners in front of the landscape views. The lunch at the local Taverna was delicious as well. This is the best experience you can get of Crete if you’re not sure where to go (like me) but you want to see those hidden gems and meet local people. Highly recommend!! Only note - the mountain roads get pretty bumpy but as someone who gets carsick very easily I felt fine the whole time.

Highly recommend!
This experience was fabulous for our entire family and it has been a highlight of our vacation! It was such a fun way to see Crete and our kids enjoyed getting out of ruins and museums to have some adventure. It was great to stick our toes in the sea toward the end of tour.

Travel junkie
Our guide spoke great English! He really knew the history and mythology. It was all day! But we had an amazing time. We gad coffee at a home in a village of 80 people, toured and tasted olive oil factory, visited a very small cheese factory in a village and gad the most amazing cheese, ate the best mousaka at a village family restaurant, and visited the temple of Konsos.

Wonderful day on the water!
What a wonderful day on the water! The captains were delightful, very kind and attentive, warm and friendly. There were 12 passengers which seemed too many at first but we were then aloud to spread out and sit on the front deck of the boat which was PERFECT! The blue water was beautiful and the lunch was superb! Dia Island wasn’t much to see, a place to drop anchor and be protected from the wind. We had a blast swimming, snorkeling and SUPing around. Thank you Alex and Vascili for a wonderful day!

Crete’s capital and largest city, Heraklion, sits not far from the center of the island’s north coast, meaning you can reach anywhere in Crete on a day trip—while ferries will bring you as far afield as Santorini. Some of the top Heraklion day trips include sailing to uninhabited Dia Island, off-road safaris through villages and olive groves, hiking the 10-mile (16-kilometer) Samaria Gorge, and heading west to Chania Old Town or pink-tinted Elafonisi Beach. From the Lassithi Plateau windmills to the fortress isle of Spinalonga, Heraklion makes the perfect base.
