What are people saying about El Calafate

Nice El Chalten
It was a long drive to El Chalten, with a brief rest stop at Hotel La Leona which is part of Route 40. On arrival at El Chalten, we were informed that effective that day March 3, visitors would have to pay 3018 pesos as city tax. The method of collection was not organized, we were directed here and there where to go just to do the payment. I gave a 10000 peso bill as payment for a total tax of 6036 pesos for 2 pax and I expected and trusted the cashier to give the correct change of 3964. However, when we returned to the bus, I counted the change I got and realized it was only 3090. Not nice at all. Anyway, the rest of the day was fine...the waterfall at Chorrillos del Salto was nice, lunch at Rancho Grande was good, entrance ticket to the park is now 50% off because of the previous day's visit to Perito Moreno glacier, the trek to Miradores de las Condores was a bit challenging for us seniors but still doable. Unfortunately, the cloud cover was a kill joy and blocked what would have been a stunning view of the glacier peaks. We finished around 4:00 pm and we were back in El Calafate safe and sound at 6:30 pm.

The guide adds a lot to this experience.
It was a a great way to visit Perito Moreno Glacier.
Our guide, Anahi, is fluent in both English and Spanish and did a wonderful job interpreting where we were and what we saw. She was well versed in the flora and fauna and history of the region. She explained everything very clearly.
Super enjoyable thanks to her good energy and guidance.
Appreciated being pickup and dropped off at my hostel. Nice touch.

Best no pressure experience allowing you to take in everything!
It’s a long day traveling but time well spent, the guide was extremely informative on all aspects of the journey including the wildlife and the ecosystem we were passing through and the views were stunning, would most definitely recommend it, the experience of crossing the border from Argentina to Chile was an experience in itself and I’m glad we did it verses trying to do it on our own. And the lunch was quite good.

Beautiful scenery
The glacier is at a national park which you have to pay to enter. There is several stops. The first one you’re getting on the boat to see the glacier. Then the second stop is a walk that you could take pictures with the glacier behind you. This last stop has a restaurant and convenience store.

Perito Moreno Glacier
The drive from El Calafate is about 2.5 hours. On the way you stop at several spots for photographs of Lake Argentina and landscapes. After you enter the national park we drove to some catamarans, boarding one to go to within 200 meters of the south face of the Perito Moreno glacier. Afterwards we went to a restaurant located near walking paths that provide views of the north and south face of the glaciers. The paths are very well constructed but there are hundreds of steps down and them back up. The views were amazing. We saw and heard “calving” of the glacier (where pieces break off and fall into the lake). The drive back was just over an hour.

Tremendous experience ! Not to be missed
This was a unique experience to get up close and into a glacier. Our guides Matti and Johnny were amazing, helping all of us up and down the steep parts! Taking pictures in all the really picturesque spots.
It was so well organized , even tea and coffee after completing the trek.
There was an awesome surprise at the end of the trek which you’ve got to do the trek to find out!!

The lady accompanied us...
The lady accompanied us to the airport was so nice. She provided significant help when the airport was chaotic due to yesterday's cancelling. The company "Patagonia Dreams" are really well organized. Not only the airport transfers, all their other tours I joined were wonderful, such as the one going to Perito Moreno with mini trekking.

Exceptional
We had the most amazing day from start to finish. Natalia shared so much knowledge on the journey to the Glaciar. We were shown maps and pictures of the area and wild life. Our driver was super careful, courteous and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful well organised day to the most beautiful glacier.

A great way to experience Perito Moreno Glacier
A very well organized excursion that delivered everything it promised. The pacing was excellent, and the guide was the best—personable, intelligent, and well prepared. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to visit Perito Moreno Glacier in one day’s time and to make good use of their time for their visit.

Simply a must-do experience
This is a must-do, and you MUST book the optional boat tour. We warned - the weather between El Calafate and the glacier can be very different - prepare for cooler and possibly wet weather. Even if you think you would not be interested in seeing the glacier, once you are there, you will be glad you went.

Incredible!
It was such a fantastic way to see the glacier! We did all the hikes around the glacier so we saw it from each vantage point but it was so amazing to be in the water, up close to it. Perito Moreno glacier was incredible but the kayak experience took it to the next level.

An excellent tour, picked...
An excellent tour, picked up by the South Road bus, for the long 15 hour day tour to Chile and back. Silvestre was excellent as a guide. There was a stop each way at La Esperanza and the border crossings were easy. We received our box lunch which contained plenty of food. The scenery was spectacular in the park starting with Lake Sarmiento which has the best panoramic views of Torres del Paine. There were further stops, including for Guanacos, at lakes for different views of the mountains. There was also a short walk to a lookout and an impressive waterfall. We saw everything we had hoped to see. On the way back we stopped to look at Mt Fitzroy away on the horizon.
