Worth a visit
There's a lot to learn about this synagogue, from the reason it looks like a cathedral to the history of the people who built it. The tour guide presented the story clearly and answered all our questions. Really beautiful building and the outdoor museum of famous and accomplished Jews from Hungary was well done.

If you want the nitty gritty knowledgeable ask for Flavia
Wonderful tour of the Great Synagogue. Flavia was upbeat and exceptionally knowledgeable. There was a bomb scare in front of our last stop so she called an audible and took us to another spot. We'll worth it.

Jewish history tour was great.
David was very good. He had great information and kept the pace moving. The synagogues were gorgeous and the walking was easy for all attendees. The only comment was he never reached out to us prior to the tour to know where to meet or how to identify him. We just happened to ask around until we found him.

a very moving experience
This is a "not to miss tour." David was so knowledgeable and personable and shared his own experiences which made for a very moving experience. He shared the history behind everything we saw and explained thoroughly.

Our Jewish Heritage in Budapest
David was a fantastic tour guide. Full of knowledge and speaks clearly, maybe a little fast but had a lot of information to give. The Jewish experience was wonderful and synagogues beautiful.

We had a wonderful tour with our guide, David, learning the history of the beautiful Dohany Street Synagogue and other Synagogues in the Jewish Quarter pre and post WW2 and the Ghetto era. It was most interesting to hear his grandparents war time experiences followed by the Soviet period.

There’s a great deal of information paced into a short period of time.
I would read up a bit on the area to be prepared with questions

Excellent Guide
Our guide David was top notch and made all the difference. He really brought the history to life, and had unlimited patience and a good sense of humour.

A must tour in Budapest
So glad we signed up for this tour. Milan was our informative guide with a wealth of knowledge. We learned history and modern day life of Jews in Budapest. . We had all ages in our group and the weather was in the 90’s. The Dohany synagogue is not air conditioned. Milan would make sure we were in the shade. Highly recommend this tour.

Synagogue Tour
Our tour guide Milan was fantastic! He had a deep knowledge of the synagogue and surrounding ghetto district and provided us a rich history of the city and Jewish life.

Women need to have their knees covered and it would have been helpful to have known this in advance. I had to purchase a ‘wrap’ prior to entering the synagogue as I was wearing shorts. Also the guide Milan was very knowledgeable but a little hard to understand.
