Must do tour for most efficient route
We couldn’t get tickets to Tiananmen Square and the forbidden city. We couldn’t book tickets for the day ourselves and decided to do a tour instead. We were told that visiting these places could take the entire day and hours could be spent waiting in line but our guide, Li Yanmin, expertly guided us through the area while also telling us facts and history. One word to describe her was EFFICIENT. We didn’t realize just how big the area was and felt like we covered a good amount of ground in just 4 hours. We so appreciated her guidance and highly recommend this tour

Take the earliest tour!
We enjoyed our trip with MuBus a lot. Our guide Shannon sent a message via Whatsapp a few days before the tour, describing how to get to the meeting point and other important info. The trip was well organised, including lots of bathroom breaks and reliable meeting information.
I would recommend taking the earliest tour possible (7:30 am), as the wall gets very crowded. We went through all the controls pretty quickly, but when we got back there were massives queues at every stop for the people going up.
We booked the visit to the wall (and booked the lunch buffet on the bus) and the summer palace. If you really want to spend time at the wall and do full walks, I would recommend doing just the wall. But it gets very crowded, so two hours was enough for us. I'd recommend taking the lunch, too. There are other restaurants around, but it was very quick and convenient to take the lunch.
The summer palace was beautiful as well, you shouldn't miss it! We got interesting historical facts and went to the most popular spots.
All in all I can recommend MuBus and Shannon as a guide, it was well organised and we enjoyed each stop a lot.

Great evening
Wonderful introduction to some of the super tasty foods specific to Beijing! We really enjoyed our time with Joe our guide, who told us a lot about the food we were eating and some history of the city as well. Walking through the small streets in the area of Shichahai was an added bonus to a night of great food.

Absolutely don’t miss this!
If there is one thing and just one tour you can do in China, this will be it. Absolutely perfectly organised tour. Started with a steep climb of 1000 steps and then the entire hike was so easy. We saw so may coming from the opposite direction who really struggled. Great views, no rush in the initial sections, great for pictures too. We are also vegetarian and they had organised excellent Chinese food for us. Really loved it. Special mention to our most wonderful guide David (Dewit) absolutely fantastic guy! Really enjoyed the tour because of him. Gave us lot of time too! 5 stars for him!

Wonderful Great Wall Tour
It was a great day with our wonderful guide, Yanna. She did everything to make it an informative and pleasant day.
The first stop was the Great Wall where we had plenty of time to explore. The group went up to the wall on a chair lift and had the choice of coming down via chair lift or toboggan. Being on the wall was the highlight of the day. It wasn't crowded and the weather was stunning.
The lunch was delicious, with a large variety of dishes available.
The main activity of the afternoon was the visit to the Summer Palace. The grounds were beautiful and Yanna expertly guided us through them.
Thanks again to Yanna and the driver for a great day.

Unforgettable experience!
We had the pleasure of visiting Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall (Mutianyu) with Lucy, a truly exceptional tour guide. From the very first moment, she proved to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about her work. Her knowledge of the history, culture, and local traditions made each stop on the tour interesting and engaging, never boring. She managed to convey curiosities and details that we would have otherwise had difficulty discovering on our own. Furthermore, she was always available, friendly, and attentive to the group's needs, adapting the pace of the tour perfectly. Thanks to her, we had an authentic experience that was much richer than a simple tourist visit. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to truly discover the place we were visiting!

High-level cultural visit
The tour was very enriching. My guide, Miko, provided a great level of information about the history of the place and of China. I highly recommend this guided tour. The Temple of Heaven is much more than just a pretty place for photos; we must respect its history.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unforgettable Beijing Day Tour with Jenny – A Perfect Experience
We booked a full-day tour covering Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, a tea ceremony, the Jade Temple and the Great Wall of China (Badaling), and it turned out to be one of the most memorable days of our entire trip.
Our wonderful guide Jenny picked us up right on time at 7:45am from our hotel. We were joined by a fantastic group of travellers from Australia, Brazil and Saudi Arabia, which made the whole day even more fun and social.
Our first stop was Tiananmen Square, where security was extremely thorough, with two levels of passport and body checks. Jenny guided us smoothly through the process and shared fascinating historical information about the square and the surrounding government buildings, including China’s Parliament House and its importance for visiting world leaders.
We then continued on to the Forbidden City, where Jenny really brought history to life. She explained the story of the last emperor, how the emperor, empress, children and concubines lived, and how every area had a specific purpose – from where the emperor studied to where official meetings and royal dinners were held. Walking through such an incredible place with her detailed explanations made it so much more meaningful.
Next was the tea ceremony, where we tasted several beautiful teas including Oolong, Ginseng, Jasmine, Pu-erh and fruity teas. We enjoyed it so much we purchased some ginseng tea and other varieties to take home.
After that we visited the Jade Temple, where we learned that jade is China’s most important stone. Watching skilled craftsmen carve jade into intricate sculptures was truly special — it really is an art form. We even bought jade bracelets as a keepsake. Lunch was served upstairs and included stir-fried vegetables, noodles, calamari, rice, Chinese cabbage, chicken, tofu soup and even chips — everything was delicious and very filling.
Then came the highlight — The Great Wall of China at Badaling. After a short bus ride, we took the cable car up, and once we stepped onto the wall the temperature dropped to around –3°C! Rugged up and excited, we walked together along the wall, up and down the incredible ancient steps. It was one of the most breathtaking and unforgettable experiences of our lives. My husband Daniel and our daughter Aarushi even braved one of the steepest sections while I cheered them on from above!
Through the entire day, Jenny was absolutely amazing — warm, bubbly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable. She made everyone feel comfortable, kept the group organised, and shared China’s history in a way that was easy to understand and engaging.
We cannot recommend Jenny highly enough. She truly made this tour special, and thanks to her, this day will stay in our hearts forever.
If you are visiting Beijing, do not hesitate to book a tour with Jenny — you will have an incredible experience! 🌟

Marco, our tour guide,...
Marco, our tour guide, made this experience perfect. He was very polite and accommodating, told us the history of the forbidden city with the right amount of details, and was kind enough at the end of the tour to offer recommendations for food in Beijing. I would definitely recommend.

Great Experience!!
So glad we chose this excursion. The tour company reached out to us immediately to confirm our pick up time. They arrived exactly as scheduled. Jackie and Mr. Zhang picked us up along with 5 others. The drive was 2.5 hours in a comfortable air conditioned van with WiFi. Jackie gave us a map and guided us to the entrance of the Great Wall. He explained where to exit and they would be waiting to pick us up. The views were absolutely amazing. There are vendors along the way if you need water, soda, beer, etc. This section lacked crowds and kids so this was a huge plus for us! You have plenty of time to take photos and rest, but be prepared for the long walk down when you exit. We made it out with 1 minute to spare at our meet up time. Just FYI if you have are not physically fit or have knee, ankle, hip problems, we do not recommend.

Beijing day trips offer a unique opportunity to explore beyond the city’s most famous sites and dive deeper into China’s rich history. Just two hours from the capital, you can walk along the iconic Great Wall of China—an ancient fortification still standing after thousands of years. Beyond the Wall, day trips take you to other major cultural landmarks, such as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven, offering a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty along the way.
