Richard was an amazing story teller and guide. If you are looking to understand the history behind the beautiful city of AIX, he is your man. He took us through a walk of Aix along with an explanation of how and when many of the Places (plazas) came to be, when they were developed, and who was in power all the way back to the roman days (BC). He was a Friendly and interesting guy!

This is a must do in Aix! We only had 2 days to visit and Richard’s tour was absolutely incredible. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and the perfect tour guide. In 2 hours we felt like we had seen most of what there was to see and it gave us some great tips to use in our time exploring alone.

Engaging, fun, detailed. You really get a sense of the past of the city and how it plays out in the present. Richard is one of the best walking tour guides I’ve been with across most countries I’ve visited - he not only shares facts but also builds a structured and engrossing narrative. I highly recommend this walking tour for your first or second day in Aix Provence. We learned so much of the history of the area and we were able to gather a game plan for where we wanted to go over the next few days. Without him we would walk by buildings and miss their historical references; with the guide we got the history and the importance of each time period block by block!

Getting a little history on the city of Aix-en-Provence over 1,800 years! From Roman times through the middle ages. The French Revolution and its real targets.
Schoolboy stories regarding Cezanne & Zola. Napoleon's balcony speech. King Rene and his civic improvements. A town filled with lawyers, doctors, students and priests. A little bit of post Brexit realities for UK expats living in Aix and France. Thanks, Richard!

Richard was a wonderful guide. He was super knowledgeable about all things Aix and throughout our walking tour gave us a thorough history of Aix and the region. It was great that the 2 hour tour was early in the day while the town is still quiet. I loved the small group (4) and would highly recommend Richard’s walking tour!
