A Day to Remember

We like to learn about the history and culture of the places we visit. Our guide was Tyrone and he was awesome. He knew the history and lived the culture. He also showed us the beautiful beaches as well as historical landmarks.

Beauty and History

This experience is well worth the price. We experienced not only the sights of Curacao but learned some of its lesser-known history. Tyrone, our guide, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about this history. He also provided some very stimulating conversation during the trip! The only part that was could have been better was the air conditioner in Tyrone''s vehicle had just broken down. Thankfully, it was a very pleasant day on the island, so this was not a distraction from the tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to not only appreciate the beauty of Curacao but also what has made it into the state it is today.

Misleading advertising

We had a poor experience with the provider, Bearded Butler. We reserved, as advertised, a 5 to 7 hour private island tour of Curaçao a few days before the day of the tour. We received an automated reply thanking us for booking a 4.5 hour beach tour. This is not what we wanted. The two messages I sent to the provider via the Viatour app asking for clarification went unanswered. The day before the tour, I received a messages via Whatsapp from Tyrone (Afro Tours) notifying us that he would be our tour guide. Bearded Butler subcontracted our booking to Tyrone. We explained the situation to Tyrone, who contacted Bearded Butler. Soon afterwards, Beaded Butler contacted me. I replied again that the tour listed on Viator was different from what he was offering. He replied that the listing was confusing and could understand our confusion. However, he said that he could not offer the tour advertised at the cost we had paid. We had to pay an additional $60 for the advertised tour. I gave the tour 3 stars, 1 for Bearded Butler and 5 for Tyrone. He was great. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about Curacao's history and culture. I would recommend booking directly with him.

Tyrone is Amazing!!!

This was so awesome! I was fortunate to be paired with Tyrone. He was so very knowledgeable about Curaçao and its history. I told him I wanted to know about the country, its history of colonialism and enslaved Africans and he knew it all! He was kind, fun, and catered the tour to my desires. He took me to see the flamingos, turtles, the government building, and more. He truly loves his job and that makes it all the better! I now have an experience I'll never forget because of Tyrone!

First off Tyron was amazing! Such a knowledgeable guy with so much information and history. Unfortunately the state of his vehicle was subpar. The passenger side back door did not open. The inside was filthy. During the tour the interior panel of the driver side back door fell off. We were with my sister and her husband and were looking forward to a 'private tour', which to us implied a bit more luxurious. Unfortunately Tyron's vehicle really brought this tour way down. We also stopped for lunch. Tyrone joined us, which was fine, but he didn't even offer to pay for himself (which would not have taken but the fact that he just assumed we were paying really irritated my husband.

Wonderful Guide and Exciting Itinerary

Ty was fantastic and kind as he showed us around the island. We loved learned about the history and culture while exploring lots of amazing places in between! We saw sea turtles, flamingos, Watamula, we swam at a beautiful beach and even got to do a cliff jump into the ocean. We made amazing family memories in Curacao and would love to return someday. Thanks Ty for being an amazing guide and finding fun for us and our kids!

This was a comprehensive tour. We started with a stop in Willemstad, some history about the city and slavery with a view of the bridge and the square. Then off to the North, drinking from coconuts and watching waves after wandering through the National Park. So many beautiful and different beaches, where we saw sea turtles and flamingoes. Highly recommend touring with Tyrone. He knows his history and the land!

The Bearded Butlers were Great!

Great experience around Curacao. We saw all of the interesting sites and learned a lot about the island from our guide Waldemir and his helper. Waldemir was so helpful in giving me directions to the meeting place and all of the information I needed before we even met. The bearded butlers were great with giving us information and showing us the island. I would recommend this tour.

Tyrone is great! Very knowledgeable about the island. You took us to places that we wouldn’t be able to go to otherwise and gave us lots of in-depth information about the history of the island in addition to places to eat, etc., and of course, the best beaches.!
