This tour was everything I hoped for — and then some. It was very well-organized from start to finish. The 4x4 vehicles were incredibly comfortable and handled the sand like a dream — smooth, powerful, and built for the terrain.
We started with the surreal pink lagoons of the salt pans, followed by a surprise bonus: flamingos and pelicans! I hadn’t seen them the day before and didn’t realize they were part of the itinerary, so I was thrilled. Then came the highlight — the breathtaking sight of towering sand dunes meeting the ocean. Driving along the beach and over the dunes was exhilarating and so much fun.
I’d expected a quick lunch stop with a simple sandwich — but what we got was an absolute feast: schnitzel, meat skewers, fish fillet, fresh oysters (!), salads, desserts (koeksisters, brownies, and more), and even sparkling wine — all served picnic-style on the beach with the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic and dunes.
While the “shipwreck coast” was really just one wreck (not a whole coastline), it still made for great photos and a perfect lunch setting. No complaints — the entire experience was thoughtful, exciting, and full of unexpected delights.
Highly recommended if you want a day that combines adventure, scenery, wildlife, and a few luxury touches you wouldn’t expect in the middle of the desert!
