As announced by the Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage, we would like to inform you that from 11 January 2026 to April 2026, Michelangelo's fresco of the Last Judgement, located in the Sistine Chapel, will not be visible to the public due to extraordinary maintenance work. Please note that the Sistine Chapel, with its vault decorated by Michelangelo, the Vatican Museums and Raphael's Rooms will remain open to the public throughout this period. However, the entire wall of the Last Judgement will be covered by scaffolding to allow for a complex and delicate restoration process.

We were really happy we chose this private tour! Our driver got us from the ship to the guide and back. He was a good driver. He spoke no English but we were able to communicate a little bit. Everything went smoothly throughout our entire day, arriving back at our ship before departure. Massimo was our guide and he was fantastic! He shared so much knowledge of both attractions! We especially liked that he gave us time to take pictures and told us many times, “You need a picture of this!” We had great weather for a day of touring. The only negative would be the lunch. Although provided, the menu only consisted of pasta, no salad, beverage, or dessert. Pasta is good but both options were pasta. Thank you for a fun day!!

Worst day of our vacation

We knew right away that the day was going to be interesting. We thought the driver was going to meet us at the port at 7:30am but didn't show up until 8:30am. Allegedly, the tour company didn't receive my text reply to their message confirming the 7:30am pick-up. Carlo, from the tour company, argued with me and stated I didn't send the text when I could clearly see it was delivered. Once we got into the minivan, our driver Tony, told us that our tour guide was in an accident, and they were trying to find a replacement. He said he was going to drive us around while they tried to find someone. Carlo called us and said that there were no guides because everyone is on vacation in Rome right now. We asked if we could possibly join up with another group, and he said it was not possible. He said our driver could drive us around, and we could look at the Colosseum from the outside. We asked if we could have a refund for our tickets since they were included in the package. Carlo said he could email us the tickets, and we could tour by ourselves which we agreed to. It was disappointing to tour the Colosseum by ourselves, but we made the best of it. After the Colosseum "tour", we were taken to the restaurant for lunch. The food was great, and we were given several options to select from. The wait staff was friendly, and it didn't take much time to get our food. This was the highlight of the day. We were told that a guide was located for the Vatican portion of the tour. We met up with Giancarlo who led us through the Vatican museum, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. Due to the time we spent waiting at the beginning of the tour to find a guide, we had very little time to get through the "fast track" line and the lines inside. Giancarlo was extremely knowledgeable and did his best to get us through as quickly as possible before we had to get back to the cruise ship. This day in particular was the day we were looking forward to the most, and it turned out to be the biggest disappointment of our entire trip especially for the money we spent. Tony and Giancarlo really tried their best to make the experience as good as possible.

Dear Ms. Myers, we thank you for issuing your review. Therefore, it is only fair to state what happened more precisely. Our agency, sent you a message on your personal phone, to ask you if you wanted to anticipate the pick up from the Port of Civitavecchia at 07:30, on August 08 but to this message, you did not respond, so much so that on the morning of the tour itself, you admitted, yourself on the phone, that you had not done so. Unfortunately, as we took care to inform her, our guide, had an accident and could not do the morning Colosseum tour service, therefore, we offered her an overview of Rome and the car at her disposal, which is not provided on this tour as the car, is only for transfers. She contacted us, because, however, she told us that she would visit the Colosseum by herself, we sent her the tickets via whatsapp. We tried to replace the guide but at the last moment, on August 12, it was not possible, believe me, we did everything. We found, among our guides, one who was available in the afternoon for the Vatican Museum visit. It is not correct to say that because of the time spent finding a guide, the time at the Museums was short. The entrance to the Museums has a time indicated on the vouchers that one must respect and it was 1:30 p.m., the tickets were skip the line, the one that forms at the detector controls, for security issues, cannot be blamed on our agency and anyway, the driver came to pick you up at 4:15 p.m., to take you back to the port on time, exactly in line with the duration of all the tours that are conducted at the Museums. We thank you, for the compliments at the restaurant for the food and the courtesy of the staff ( one of our staff came there to further explain what happened) for our driver and our afternoon guide. We are regretful, for the incident to our guide, designated for his tour, probably if he had not had it, now the review would have been of full satisfaction as all those given to us. Outstanding day in Rome

Smooth on-time pickup at our cruise ship, then dropped off with our tour guide for the day, Massimo. He was outstanding. He had the timing down perfect - when to go in to each venue, where to stop along the way for discussion, photos, etc. He was extremely knowledgeable me about everything we saw and Rome’s history. I would highly recommend, as it was our family’s best day of our trip (4 teenage boys).

THE ONLY WAY TO SEE ROME IN A DAY!

What an amazing experience! Our Driver, Carmela, picked us up right in front of the ship and took great care of us in the crazy Rome traffic. We were met at the Vatican Museum by Marco who was beyond fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing, we had a fabulous lunch and finished the tour with the Colosseum and Forum. Marco and Carmela made sure we were back to our ship in time for departure. This is the only way to see Rome in a day and well worth the extra $$.

Le colisée était extraordinaire à voir le Vaticanla guide en français enfin pour nous c était super mais malheureusement ce n'est pas une bonne excursion à choisir si vous arrivez et repartes par bateau par manque de temps l'excursion à coûté 2500 pour voir le colisée et le Vatican sans la basilique St pierre et chapelle sixteen donc très cher
