This was one of those experiences that you get for your lifetime. Really kind people, that will explain to you all about how the farm and fruits/vegetables are grown and maintained, then the farm itself on which you will try fruits and smell spices maybe even for the first time in your life, directly from garden, and then you will prepare and cook in a traditional way, and in the end eat all those delicious foods. Also, to mention really tasty herbal drinks. Anyway, great experience and please continue doing it great.

    Wonderful experience with the kids

Wonderful experience and the kids loved it, 9 and 6 years old. Got to see and pick all the ingredients around the farm before cooking a delicious lunch together.

    Excellent Cooking Class

We had a great time at the cooking class. We particularly enjoyed picking all the herbs, fruit and vegetables in the surrounding fields that we then turned into food. Great hosts and a fun morning. Highly recommended.

Amazing time with some amazing Balinese guys

    Tripp_F, Jun 2025
We have lived in Indonesia for 8 years and this is our 6th time to Bali. This cooking class is one of the best experiences we’ve ever had traveling, and we have been to lots of cooking classes before. You get to go out and pick most of the ingredients (the veggies) off the plants, and you are fully involved in the entire cooking experience. The young guys who lead this class are amazing: they are fun, have great English, and are very eager about what they do. We sat around for probably an hour after we ate and just chatted about their life, soccer (football), and all sorts of things. We were there for probably 4 1/2 hours and it is the highlight of our trip to Bali so far. Highly recommend!!

Harvesting and preparing the herbs and vegetables for the base components and sauces. Utilizing the outdoor grill and fire stove to prepare the meal. Staff were fun and engaging through the entire experience.

    The highlight of my trip

    Alyna_N, Jul 2024
I did this cooking class on the last day of my trip, yet it was the undefeated highlight of my entire vacation. My instructor (korong I think) was the bubbliest, most knowledgeable person! I was laughing the entire class. The scenery was immersive and authentic. The food itself was delicious. I could not recommend more.

Incredible hands-on class with delicious food!

We had the best time at the Balinese Cooking Class at Mai Organic Farm! From the moment we arrived at the farm, we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing fresh coconut. The farm tour was a great start to the experience. Walking through the community farm, we learned a lot about the farming practices and had the pleasure of picking fresh ingredients that we would later use in our cooking class, truly embracing the farm-to-table concept. With the tour complete, we were treated to a fresh juice made with locally sourced vegetables and fruits that was a refreshing pause before we dove into the cooking session. The cooking class itself was a delight! We prepared authentic Balinese dishes, including the incredible tuna sate and to-die-for corn fritters. The expert instructors guided us through the process, and what impressed me most was the flexibility they offered. Everyone in the group's dietary restrictions and preferences were happily accommodated, and they even made a spicy and non-spicy version of most dishes - which made me super happy as a person who craves that heat. (Other classes will cater to those with the least tolerance, and give you some extra chili to add afterwards, which just isn't the same.) I left eager to find the specialty ingredients back home and try to recreate some of the delicious things we made. What really made this class stand out is the wonderful folks facilitating the class. Each one was so friendly and outgoing, it also encouraged the participants to get to know each other, and it really wasn't long before it felt like we were hanging out with a group of friends. I can't recommend this Balinese Cooking Class enough. It's a unique opportunity to connect with nature, learn about sustainable practices, and immerse yourself in the rich culinary traditions of Bali. If you're planning a trip to Ubud, be sure to include this cooking class on your itinerary – you won't regret it!

Mai show incredible care for the land and produce they grow. You can sense their enjoyment in what they do and how they do it. It was a great experience to share in the process and taste the freshness in all the ingredients.

    Amazing experience!!

    Frank_C, Aug 2022
WOW, where can we begin? We were 4 of us, a family with 2 girls 12 and 13. All 4 of us loved every moment, from start to finish. It's amazing to have a pick up and drop off service (with the last minute pick up location change), and the whole experience completely exceeded our expectation. The other participants also seemed to be having the best times (and they told us so)! It started out with fresh coconut water, explanation of the time together, then off to the farm to pick the ingredients. Along the way, we ate banana from the tree and learned more about local culture. The kitchen/ dining area was absolutely beautiful! I want to post photos but Viator is not allowing my files, so you will have to see it for yourself. You will not be disappointed. The whole community cooking part was really fun, easy enough but also interesting enough for all of the participants. It was a lot more fun than we had all expected! There was no time to be bored. And the food was absolutely delicious!! I loved that we got to experience true communal cooking. It felt like a very authentic experience, instead of having it watered down to the Western tourists. Their mission to support the community and spread the organic farming practice is admirable. Last but not least... Kadek asked us in the end how to improve their cooking class! What? By the way, we couldn't think of any, and we are quite hard to please. After all that and giving us a recipe book as well, nobody asked us to review. Really classy. I cannot recommend this class enough. It made our final day in Bali. Go do it!!!
