Itinerary
Meet your guide near the Õstermalms Saluhall, the oldest food market in Stockholm, where many businesses have been passed down through multiple family generations. Admire the intricate carvings on the interior wooden walls and eaves, which have been well-preserved for centuries.
Munch on some modern Swedish meatballs, slightly changed and much healthier than their traditional version, but just as tasty. Then continue your tour with a stroll through Stureplan, an area that most tourists skip. At Kungsgatan, check out K25, an urban food court packed with Stockholm's hip young residents. Try some of the local seafood and sip a glass of white wine while you do some interesting people-watching.
Take the chill off with a visit to Chokoladfabriken for their legendary hot chocolate, made with 65% cocoa and cardamom. Then pause at Hõtorgshallen to peruse the market stalls filled with Swedish delicacies and fresh produce. At the P&B Delikatesser, taste a dizzying array of homemade products like truffles, traditional Swedish licorice and cloudberry jam.
Hit up Husmans Deli for some artisan cheese, then visit Fagel & Vilt for cured meats like smoked reindeer and elk salami. Wash it down with some Norrlands Guld beer and chase it with some fresh fruit from Lisbeth Janson Frukt & Grunt.
Walk the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan, Stockholm's Old Town, and pause at a candy store before heading to your last tasting: a traditional Swedish fika. The nation's favorite mid-afternoon or evening break consists of a kanelbullar and a strong coffee.
With a full stomach and lots of ideas about where you'll want to eat on the rest of your Swedish holiday, you'll bid farewell to your guide after this 4-hour tour.

Cotton was an amazing guide and the range of Swedish foods that we tried was impressive, a very big variety. I won't say what we had but some recipes dated back to the 1600's. I suggest you don't have breakfast because there is a lot of food and we were very full by the end. I would highly recommend this tour.

We had a fantastic time on this food tour and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Stockholm. Our guide, Sarah, was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the experience. We learned a lot about Stockholm’s food culture through a variety of tastings across different neighborhoods, complemented by the insightful information Sarah shared. I especially appreciated the sit-down tasting at the seafood eatery and the FIKA break at the café—it was a great opportunity to relax and connect with others on the tour. Bobby and Gary

Knowledgeable local guide with deep respect for the vendors, and is as his guests. Fascinating facts, lovely food. A wide selection of foods showcasing Swedish fare. We even went back to a couple of the places he took us. He was great company and had great patience answering the 101 questions I had, from tax and healthcare policy in Sweden to broader questions of philosophy. The thinking persons guide. Come hungry, come with good walking shoes and an open mind.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you, Sarah - so glad you enjoyed the depth of the experience, from the wide range of Swedish food to the thoughtful conversations along the way. A guide who respects the vendors, takes time for questions, and shares fascinating perspectives is exactly what makes this tour special. Hearing that you even went back to a few of the stops is wonderful to know.

Food & the bits of Swedish history were interesting & informative but the tour guide’s voice was at times soft and he walked very fast. Not sure if his standoffishness was just typical Swedish personality or if that’s was him. Was most disappointed in the final item - cinnamon bun. It was dry & not particularly tasty.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you for the feedback - I’m sorry the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations. We always aim to offer generous tastings, clear guiding, and a relaxed pace so everyone feels included and comfortable. Your comments about the walking speed, audibility, and the final tasting are helpful for us to hear.

Wear your walking shoes! A good bit of walking is involved in this tour, but it was worth it. A good variety of foods were presented. Landmarks were pointed out as well. The guide, Cotton (spelling?), was wonderful. Don't miss this tour!
Ann_M, Sep 2025
Our travel guide was Cotton. He was very knowledgable about the food and the history behind what we sampled. He was a great guide. We visited two food halls for various tastings and finished with Fika in Old Town. It was a delightful tour…but beware of the salty licorice 😂
Wendy_H, Sep 2025
Had some food around Stockholm. More walking than eating.. I signed up thinking it would be a max group of 12 people but it was 20 in total. Way too many people for that kind of tour. We got to try bear, moose and reindeer which was fun but other than that, food was disappointing and not good. Took so long for everyone to get a taste.
Kimberly_L, Sep 2025
Cotton was an amazing guide. He not only gave a food tour, but also gave interesting historical background on the food and the buildings/areas we were walking around/ through. Fair warning, there is a lot of walking on this tour. And the licorice tasting is outrageous! And I tasted all of them. The samples were far out! Talk about salty🧂! WOW! But I definitely rate this 5 🌟
Candice_R, Sep 2025
Well paced, great food, lovely guide, educational and fun. Definitely worth it! Manageable amount of walking.
AnneMarie_C, Sep 2025
Our family has been on many food tours and this was one of the better ones. Our could-have-been-a-James-Bond tour guide Cotton was extremely knowledgeable about not only the history of the foods we sampled but how they were prepared. A very nice variety of foods were offered. It was an excellent experience!
Kris_T, Sep 2025
