We booked a full-day boat charter through Viator, and it was an exceptional experience. The boat was well-maintained, and both the captain and his assistant were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their thoughtfulness really stood out—they took us to shallow, tranquil beaches and a private area with clear water after we mentioned our group's fear of the water. The right-hand mate was fantastic with my nieces, guiding them through snorkeling with patience and sharing her knowledge about marine life. She even took pictures of us throughout the day, adding to the fun. The relaxed atmosphere on the boat, combined with great food and drinks, made for a perfect day. Compared to other charters we've done, this one was top-notch due to the personal service and friendly approach. I highly recommend this boat charter for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day on the water. Their thoughtful crew ensures a memorable experience, especially for groups with members who may be hesitant about getting in the water.

Do Not Book This

Tyler_G, Mar 2026
We recently went on a Disney cruise and booked 1 excursion off of Viator because most of the excursions through Disney were already picked over by the time we were allowed to select. We put in our cruise, and it populated the itinerary that our cruise was on. We successfully booked a private sailboat excursion for 6 that was going to the Virgin Islands National Park. The next day after booking, we were contacted by the captain of the boat, telling us we had to cancel our excursion because we had 6 people, and there was already 2 people booked on his boat for that day. The max was for 6 people, but he said that there was a bug or glitch on Viator that doesn’t show when there are spots taken on the available seats, causing constant overbooking. He said not to worry, and that he had a friend that did the same thing and he would send us his link on Viator. He sent us his link and we booked his friend. His friend called a day or so later with the same thing. He wanted us to cancel our excursion because he had a family that wanted to book him 6 days straight instead of the 1 day that we booked. He didn’t ask us to validate that we were on the right day. He didn’t make sure we were on the correct Virgin Islands. He was just worried about getting a bigger booking than what we were. We emailed him a few days before we left on the cruise about towels, and he shot back a short email telling us towels weren’t included and we needed to make sure we brought gratuities to tip them. On our excursion day, we got off the boat and headed over to the taxis as instructed by the tour operator. We handed our tickets to the taxi driver, and he looked at my ticket and laughed at us. He said that we were on the wrong Virgin Islands and that no taxi could get there, and even a ferry couldn’t get us there and back on the boat on time because of the timing of the ferry's. I called Viator from the boat and explained that the excursion was not clearly listed and that it was booked for the wrong island. It should not have let me book something in a destination that I was not in per my itinerary. Additionally, if there are multiple “Virgin Islands”, I am sure that this is not something new where someone unintentionally booked the wrong island. I was not aware that there were multiple islands labeled as the Virgin Islands, so nothing flagged me until I was laughed at and they showed me the mistake. The tour operator was only focused on profits on our call, and not ensuring the accuracy of the booking or making sure that we were taken care of. Everything about this excursion felt like we were put together: -Booking details (Private full day sail in Virgin Islands National Park) -Itinerary details (Sail to the Virgin Islands National Park and snorkel with sea turtles and reef fish! Relax and explore some of the most pristine beaches around!) -message from operator (Just take a taxi off the cruise ship to us at American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. There are plenty of them. Please bring your own towels, reef safe sunscreen, and money for gratuity. Everything else is provided.). How were we expected to now that "Red Hook" was not taxi distance from our cruise port when we booked the excursion. They leave the booking vague enough to get you to book the excursion, and then you have a problem the day of where you can't get your money back because it's not within the 24 hr cancellation window. We have never been to the island(s) before to know that I wasn't able to take a taxi/ferry as instructed by the tour operator. Additionally, the site should not have let me select an excursion that was not available for the port I was at for that day. The first operator confirmed that there were glitches within Viator. This confirms it. We feel misled by not being given enough information to catch the error, especially since we had never been to this location or island before. I will be calling my credit card company to have charges reversed. Operator kept all of my money to not do anything off of a vague listing.

Beautiful Day on the Water

Our hosts were gracious and kind. They took time to personally work with our less experienced snorkelers. They took us to perfectly hidden gems of beaches and grilled us a wonderful lunch.

Incredible Experience!

Alyssa_M, Apr 2024
My husband and I booked the private full day sail with Max Charters and it was *pure MAGIC*! We were waited on hand and foot all day, got to go to the best snorkeling spots, and heard some really fun stories from our captain and Casey. We had so much fun and felt completely spoiled. If I could give this experience 15 starts, I would! Definitely recommend booking it to anyone coming to the islands!

Highlight of our trip!

Karisa_C, Mar 2024
This was an amazing experience! The boat was nice (yay restroom on board!) but what really made the day were our incredible expert guides, captain Aaron and first mate Casey. We were timid snorkelers but their enthusiasm for EVERYTHING was contagious and we couldn’t help but have the most amazing and memorable day. This was the highlight of our trip!

Fun beautiful adventure!
