Great Tour, Great App

My husband and I used this walking tour during a recent cruise stop in St. John’s. We have used various walking tours in the past and we found this app and narration both to be well- done. The app is easy to use and the tutorial was super helpful. We downloaded everything the night before and could start anytime. Some other walking tours expire in 24-hours, but not with this company. The auto-start narration with GPS worked most of the time. Mine had a problem repeating the previous talk at a few stops, but it was easy to make it change to the right one. The stops were interesting and the tour went in a logical order, getting up to higher elevation early and then working down toward the harbor. I saw in another review someone commented about going to the “rough part of town” due to some unhoused people in tents making them nervous. We saw the same thing, but it was literally just two tents in a park near “The Room” museum. It was not at all unsafe or “dodgey.” If being in the vicinity of unhoused people is for some reason frightening to you, just skip walking to that place. The Rooms Museum was the “turn around” point at the upper part of the tour. If you decided to skip it you would save some steps. At one point there was an optional side trip of 800 meters on Water street that we decided to skip. I regretted it later because the post office was right there and I needed something from the post office.

Great way to tour St. John’s!

Loved the walking tour! The tutorials helped me figure out how to use it. Map showed me where I was. Liked that there was audio and a written transcript. I learned a lot on the walk. Much more fun than just walking around on my own. Would recommend this to others who want to learn more about historic St. John’s.

The activity would be great but I was with my 90 year old mom and the unhoused people in the area had police stopping on a few different places. Not a place to be walking around in.

Worth the money spent

Easy to use and full of information you wouldn’t get on your own. The speaker was very engaging. Had some minor quirks that I think were user error and it would occasionally start talking about a previous lstop while walking to another spot. We heard about McMurdo’s lane 3 or 4 times while travelling along george street. Overall a worthwhile investment for a couple hours of wandering St. John’s.

It was informative and brought you around the majority of the town but a little confusing with the app reverting back to places we had already passed and had to keep updating where we were.
