Food allergies noted were not accommodated- had to walk away from tour. Allergic to bony fish but were told that 2 of the stops included bony fish- no alternates offered- so we just left,

Let's be very clear. You did not inform us of your allergies in advance of the tour, and I confirmed that when we met when I looked at the booking that we received from you that stated “No” to any special dietary requirements. We can reasonably accommodate most allergies when given advance notice, but you only informed us of your allergies when you arrived for the tour as it was beginning. You next told me that you are especially allergic to bone-fish which we have two servings of on our food tour. This is Newfoundland, whose history and culture developed around the cod fishery so naturally we have cod fish, a bone-fish, on our tour. When I asked you about the severity of your allergies to bone-fish you expressed concerns about cross contamination and I then informed you that in addition to the two restaurants where we would serve bone-fish, 3 others have it on their menu. You then looked to your husband and said, perhaps we should bail. If you cannot even be in a restaurant that serves fish due to possible cross contamination that could activate your allergies, what exactly was I supposed to offer you instead?
Had we been made aware of your fish allergy and its severity ahead of time, we would have recommended that you not book our food tour.

The guide Tira was excellent! Also, come hungry! Loads of food! Interesting history. Loads of yarns, enough to make a sweater. Be prepared for stairs but not a strenuous walk otherwise.

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Mackenzie, was absolutely wonderful! She had so many interesting stories about St. John’s and Newfoundland, in general. We stopped at 6 restaurants, and the food was great. We ended up going back to 3 of the places later on our trip. I highly recommend this tour.

Once we figured out the meeting place (read the actual meeting point do not use the Google map location provided) everything was excellent. The stops were close to each other and all of the food was delicious. Dave was personable and funny but he was also super knowledgeable about the history of the area and the food. He is a great story teller and we enjoyed listening to him. He chitchatted with us and gave suggestions and recommendations to us about our visit to the area. The food was a good mix of sweet and savory and a sample of the local fare. I was full at the end but not unpleasantly so. It also provided my husband and I with a few places that we will likely go revisit for a drink or a bite to eat. Don’t have anything negative to say and would recommend this tour to visitors to St. John’s.

Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable and did a fine job taking us around and telling us about St John’s. I expected (just based on other experiences, I was not intentionally misled by this group) to taste special foods at local restaurants and food trucks, but instead most of the tour was pubs. Not for beer but for fried pub bites. The food was fine to good, just go knowing what to expect.

Dave was an excellent story teller. He used a speaker and microphone, which was much appreciated. He also threw in the Newfoundland accent every now and then for authenticity. The meeting place was easy to find and the tour included a moose slider, pastry, toutan, fish cake, fish and chips and ice cream. We didn't need dinner after that. The walk around the town was also very interesting, which explained the history of the buildings and the lives of the residents. It was a worthwhile and fun experience.

Incredible tour! A must do! We stopped at 6 different places to eat. All the food was amazing! Tyra our tour guide was the best! So knowledgeable and fun to listen to. We learned a lot about the history of the island. So it’s not just a food tour, but a city tour as well. There is some walking but honestly not bad at all. You should definitely do this when you’re in St John’s!!

We had a wonderful time touring with David! He was so knowledgeable and fun. The food was fantastic, history was great and the culture was cool. I've been to Newfoundland probably ten times in my life to visit family and this was my first time doing any type of tour in the city - HIGHLY recommend! We LOVED it!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job sharing the history and stories of St. Johns. She was friendly and fun and even shared personal stories. Food was amazing, good portion sizes so dont eat before. One thing that should be mentioned is that you will be walking up very steep hills and many steps. this is not a tour for anyone who may have even slight mobility issues.

Great tour with. Great guide who provided so much information about the area and about the food. 6 stops with wonderful tastings and many stops along the way to talk about history and traditions of St John. Tyra was outstanding. It was pouring rain at the beginning of the tour and we arrived early she was already there smiling and welcoming. A wonderful guide !!
