We enjoyed this tour, but had we relied on map’s accuracy to find the address, we would still be looking for 99 George st. Keep an eye out for the yellow flag carried by the guide.
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Google Maps knows what's what but we've been struggling with correcting Apple Maps incorrect pin for that address, so we also include a description of the meeting point, cross streets, and GPS coordinates in our tour descriptions. We're glad you found your guide and enjoyed your tour.
Our St John’s food tour with Tyra was a fantastic way to learn about Newfoundland and taste some traditional foods in charming settings. Tyra was a kick!! Full of wonderful information and delivered with lots of passion and a great sense of humor
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Sounds like Tyra delivered the whole package. So glad it was such a fantastic way to discover this place. Thanks for sharing!
This food tour is a must! Mackenzie was an awesome tour guide. We have family from Newfoundland but we still learned so much about the history including the coca cola boycott. Every stop had awesome food and we ticked off some bucket list places and dishes all at once. With so many things to do while visiting, this should top the list!
Response from Host, Sep 2026
Even with family from Newfoundland there's still so much to discover. Thanks for taking a walk with us and for the lovely review.
Ian led an excellent beer tour in St. John's. He provided a great deal of interesting information about the history of beer in Newfoundland. And we sampled quite a few different brews at several locations. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Sep 2026
History, hops and plenty of sampling, sounds like Ian covered all the bases! Glad you had such a great time and thanks for the recommendation!
Come hungry. Great portions and an even greater learning experience through our awesome guide. McKenzie was the best! Even sang the old Newfoundland anthem at our request.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
McKenzie really does go above and beyond! Come hungry is always the right advice. Thanks for this brilliant review!

Thanks for taking a walk with us and we're glad you enjoyed your tour with Mackenzie.
Our tour guide, Mackenzie, was great. The food was also quite good but this company falsely advertised the prices and would not take accountability for it. I booked this tour for me, my husband and my 8 year old son (the ticket clearly stated 2 adults one child). When we arrived we were told oh by the way we don’t provide food on this tour for kids under 10. Nowhere on the Viator description did it say anything about kids under 10 not being provided with food on a FOOD TOUR. I had booked 2 adults and 1 child and paid the total that it asked for via Viator. We were given a number to call about this and my husband called it. The man he spoke to was immediately defensive and hostile, stating multiple times “so what, you think you’re just going to get free food for your kid??” It was explained to him multiple times that we paid the stated total for the party of 3 I had booked and we had the ticket as proof I had paid for 2 adults 1 child. When he took a look at the Viator site he stated oh Viator changed the description. Well that’s not our problem. That’s between them and Viator. After having to engage in a very long and unpleasant phone conversation, he had us pay significantly extra for our child to be provided food. I would not have minded paying this when I initially booked the tour but the ticket I was paying for was supposed to include the 3 of us. This was absolutely false advertising and was handled extremely poorly by management. Just be aware that if any families book the tour with kids under 9, it does not include food for those kids despite this not being written anywhere on Viator or the ticket.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
We’re sorry that you weren’t happy with your food tour. For the record, the child’s ticket was $0 so only the two adults were paid for. We are a small business and cannot afford to give away free food. The fee we asked you to pay was the same price we pay for the food on the tour. There was no markup.
We had the disclaimer written into our tour description but it seems that Viator has used AI to rewrite our description involuntarily and has omitted important information. We have since added more clarifying language elsewhere that free child tickets don’t include a meal.
In 4 years of running this tour this is only the 2nd time that anyone has been confused by free child tickets.
As for the tone of the phone call, we apologize that we matched your aggressive tone. We should have done better, although we did have to ask you several times to lower your voice while we sorted through the issue.
We’re happy that you enjoyed your tour with Mackenzie.
Tyra was excellent guide, keeping the perfect balance between history, interesting facts and stories and of course, introducing the food. Food was excellent and ample; guide was even better! This was a perfect way to spend 3 hours and get fed while being entertained!

Melissa made us feel like Townies with all her tales of what it’s like to live in St. John’s. We loved all the restaurants and cafes she took us to, many hidden gems. The food was delicious. At the end we were stodged, ie., stuffed.

Hey David. Thanks for the great review. We are happy that you enjoyed your tour with Pierre. Cheers!
The walking tour had just the right amount of participants (11) to make it friendly but not overcrowded. There was a good balance between walking and stopping to sample! Our guide was very friendly, knowledgable and easygoing and it was lovely to spend time with a real Newfoundlander and hear about this very interesting place 😊. I would definitely go again and it was the right decision not to eat in advance!!
