Wear comfortable shoes.- walking on cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Some stairs but many have handrails. The guide was very knowledgeable and had some amusing anecdotes. He is clearly used to visitors from all over the world. He gave us great tips on where to eat and drink and how to avoid scammers. Highly recommend!

Mario was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had.
First of all we were a bit confused on where to to meet but I recognized him from the tour information listing. He welcomed us to the group.
The pace of the tour was perfect. We never felt rushed and had time to truly explore and take pics.
Loved that Mario asked us questions and waited for us to aware. I’m sure he’s an excellent professor. He gave us information at each stop and was never overwhelming.
I would highly recommend this tour of Split with Mario. If we find ourselves back in the area we would book a tour with Mario without hesitation.

As someone who has traveled extensively and done plenty of walking tours, this is one of the most memorable and best.
Mario is a great guide with a wonderful sense of humor. His lessons on history are rooted in reality and he does not romanticize anything that doesn’t deserve to be romanticized.
It’s nice to have a guide who is young and has experienced how Split has changed during the last two decades. He has a real understanding of how this region has adapted to that changing landscape and how locals have experienced it.

This was such a great tour for anyone interested in the history of Diocletian’s Palace, local food and some tips for the area, as well as some friendly travel tips. Mario was very engaging. I’d highly recommend doing this tour one of your first days visiting as you’ll get really well oriented to the layout of the palace and it makes getting around so much easier. After the tour we had a list of ideas in our heads of what we wanted to see more of and where we’d want to eat.

Amazing experience! Mario was knowledgeable about the topic but also other things that he weaved into the tour masterfully. He was entertaining and attentive. His explanations increased both our understanding and interest in the history of Split, Croacia and the region in general. He also gave us useful tips that helped us throughout our vacation. He even recommended us a fantastic wine! 🥳

This was a fantastic way to see Split and learn its impressive and storied history. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us learn so much in a brief amount of time. I would highly recommend this tour as a "first activity" when arriving in Split- it gives you a lay of the land, and helps you know what you're looking at as you continue to travel around this historic city.

It hits all the sights, and the guide gives you all the context and historical anecdotes and tidbits to increase your understanding and appreciation. We actually had a substitute guide, Elena, and she was terrific -- not only all the crucial stories, but witty and engaging.

Mario was unfortunately not available for this tour but had set us up with one of his colleagues Elena who was an incredible tour guide. She was informative, funny, and a true local that knew the history and highlights of Split! We had a great time on our walking tour with Elena and she was very thoughtful in finding shade for us during a hot summer day
Kumar_B, Jun 2026
Excellent tour with lots of great information about the history, culture and heritage of the region. Learnt quite a bit and Mario kept the entire tour quite engaging. Worth the 2+ hours. This tour is a great intro to the country and the city. His passion for his country and the subject is quite evident in his depth of knowledge on a range of topics spanning sports, history, food and wine.
