We had an amazing time on this tour. Ivanna was very knowledgeable about the city and was very friendly. The food was amazing and a great tasting of traditional Croatian food. The wine and olive tasting was also awesome!

Very bad and rude organizer. We arrived 30 minutes early to event. The organizer claims they sent us a message to look for us but this is incorrect. The message was sent AFTER the event was over. We called to request the next scheduled event but never received a message back. One can tell by how the organizer responds to bad reviews that they do not care about customer service only about getting their money.

We respectfully disagree with this account, as our records show a different sequence of events that we would like to clarify.
We are a local tour operator in Split, listing our tour through Viator, which handles bookings and payments. All of our direct communication with guests takes place solely through the Viator messaging platform.
Before the tour, guests receive an automated booking confirmation and reminder containing the precise meeting point, a Google Maps link, and a description of the guide, including their clothing, bag and the sign displaying “SPLIT FOOD TOUR”. These details help guests locate the meeting point and identify their guide.
Our guide arrived 15 mins before the scheduled start time and waited an additional 15 mins after the start before proceeding with the group. When you had not arrived, the guide informed us, and we contacted you through the Viator messaging platform at 10:39 am, nine minutes after the start. For clarity, this is the exact message we sent:
“Hello Deyra, your guide Ivana has let us know that you have not arrived at the meeting location. The group (10 other guests) and Ivana waited an extra 5 minutes but needed to start. They will stay very near to the 'SPLIT sign' for an additional 5-10 minutes. If you do not see them there, or are just running late, let us know and we can assist you in catching up. Oct 7, 2026, 10:39 AM”
This message was intended to help you locate and join the group; it was not sent after the tour had ended. We received no reply or request to reschedule. We therefore disagree with the suggestion that our communication was rude or that we failed to offer assistance.
The tour proceeded as scheduled with the other 10 guests, including 8 other travellers booked through Viator. They received the same meeting instructions, attended the tour and subsequently left reviews.
A few days later, Viator contacted us regarding your claim that we had not shown up at the meeting location and requested supporting documentation. We supplied records confirming that the tour had operated as scheduled, and Viator subsequently declined your refund request in accordance with its refund policy.
Viator manages bookings, payments and refunds. Any separate communications with its customer support team are handled directly by Viator and are outside our direct involvement.
We are genuinely sorry you were unable to join us. However, our guide had been arranged and the restaurant dishes had been ordered in advance. We gain nothing when a guest misses a tour; we would much rather welcome everyone and share the food, history and culture of our beautiful city. We take customer service seriously, and our priority is providing a welcoming, well-organised and memorable experience in Split.
Ivana was an extremely knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We got a lot of history but also a lot of cultural info. She clearly loves Split and the “chill out” vibe. Food was fantastic. Stopped at very nice restaurants.

This is really a Croatia history with food breaks. We did a history walking tour the day before so it was extremely repetitive. Guide was nice and very knowledgeable…but we were not expecting a 4 hour lecture.

Our tour is clearly advertised as a food, history and sightseeing tour. More than half of the experience is spent seated in restaurants enjoying and learning about our local dishes, with history and sightseeing woven throughout the tour as we move from one location to the next.
The fact that you chose to take a separate history tour the day before was your mistake, not ours. If you had read what you were booking, read the confirmation email from us, and also a few of the previous reviews, you would have known this.
As for describing the tour as a “four-hour lecture,” we are honestly not sure what you would expect from a guided food, history and sightseeing tour if not for your guide to share information, culture and stories, and to show you the sights along the way. That is precisely what a guide is there to do.
You say that the food was good and that your guide was nice and knowledgeable, yet you chose to give us one star simply because the tour contained something that was clearly stated in its description. We find that unfair to us as a small local business, offering an experience we are extremely proud of.
This was one of the highlights of our cruise to Italy and Croatia. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and the tour and food tastings were perfectly spaced out. Nothing felt rushed; the entire experience was calm and relaxing.
There was plenty of food, and the length of the tour felt just right. I really enjoyed learning about the city and its history while stopping along the way for delicious bites. Highly recommend for any foodie visiting Split!

Ivanna was the best tour guise I jave ever experienced, her knowledge and enthusiasmwas contagious. Absolutely wonderful. Super informative and the food was delicious, a little something different for everyone and plenty. You won't leave hungry for food or history. Cannot recommend it enough

We love doing food tours and this one was one of the best. Great food and our guide weaved in very interesting historical facts. Split exceeded our expectations. I would do the afternoon/evening tour because if there are cruise ships in, it can be crowded in the historical center in the morning. Loved this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour of Split with Mariana!
She was knowledgeable, engaging, funny, and made the history of the Old Town really interesting. It was a wonderful introduction to Split and ended up being especially helpful because we were staying for several more days. After the tour, we felt much more comfortable finding our way around and knew several places we wanted to return to on our own.
The food was also incredibly generous — by the end, there was so much that we simply could not eat it all!
Except for the gelato, of course. 😊
Mariana was a fantastic guide, and this was such a fun way to begin our time in Split. I would definitely recommend doing this tour early in your stay so you can enjoy what you learn for the rest of your visit.

Great tour!! Focus on special restaurants in Old Town with one just outside the main wall. Super personal guide who brought so much history and positive vibe to our tour! Highly recommend!!

Tea related the history of the Dalmatian Castle while introducing us to the best food of Split. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining. All eating establishments were arranged before arriving so that we missed the crowds.

Our tour guide Ivanna was amazing. She was friendly and knowledgeable. The food tour was one of the best we have had —because the portions were normal size and each stop built upon the next and by the end you had a six course meal.

Tea was excellent and lots of different types of food to try. Tea also provided great information. It was a great way to see palace and combine it with fun eating traditional Croatian food.

My wife and I had an outstanding tour with Ivana!! Ivana was an amazing guide- super friendly, personable and extremely knowledgeable. This is as much a history tour as it was a food tour which we loved.
Ivana guided us all around the history center. We made 5 different stops experience local cuisine which was excellent. You will most certainly not leave this tour hungry.
We would highly recommend this tour and especially Ivana!!

We loved every minute of it. Ivana was an amazing guide as we strolled around the UNESCO heritage site in the center city. In her excellent English. She shared the interesting history of Croatia and of the culture and food of today. Definitely be hungry because the food was delicious and generous at five stops: a large charcuterie board, cuttlefish pasta with squid ink sauce, traditional beef pot roast with gnocchi, savory cheese and beef pastries, top off with incredible gelati cones. The three restaurants were a lovely hidden gem plus two stops that were packed with locals and tourists. We were served a shot of the local liquor but any other wine was an additional cost but reasonable at about $7-8 euros. Plenty of water was served at the restaurants which has very nice bathrooms. The memorable tour was well worth the cost. There were big crowds while we walked on a beautiful Saturday July evening but Ivana helped us negotiate them and kept the pace comfortable. No whisper equipment was used but I had no problem hearing her narration even though I wear hearing aids. Ivana answered everything with good humor and seemed to enjoy herself, too. Our tour only had nine people so it made an intimate experience we won’t forget. Highly recommended.
