Took Simba’s VIP tour experience to see some of Tunisia’s best sites near Tunis. For this customizable, private tour, we explored Carthage, Sibi Bou Said, and the medina in Tunis. Here, you can choose the Bardo Museum instead of the medina, but that seems better to do for at least a half day when you aren’t committed to see everything else in the area that same day. Would recommend doing this tour along with “Fun VIP Day Tour: El Jem, Kairouan & Monastir/Sousse (Pickup All)“ another day to see Tunisia’s greatest hits during a week’s visit. Our driver was Moez, who is professional, speaks English, and doesn’t pressure you to spend money at tourist traps as can be a common experience in this part of the world. He was so good that we requested him again for our second tour with Simba later in the week.

The day trip felt more like a simple cab service than an actual experience. While the driver Moez was OK and punctual, there was little to no structure or exploration involved. He was more about getting from point A to point B without much in the way of insights. Great if you just need a ride, but if you're looking for something more engaging service, this might not be for you.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Othmen. From the very start he made us feel completely at ease — more like we were spending the day with family than on a tour. He went out of his way to take us to every location we’d hoped to see and made sure the whole experience was smooth, relaxed, and truly memorable.
We were lucky enough to be the only couple on the tour that day, which meant our visits to the Medina, Carthage, and Sidi Bou Said felt personal and unhurried. Othmen shared insights, looked after every detail, and made sure we were comfortable throughout. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care really stood out.

Ahmed promptly arrived at the said pick up time. Very friendly driver and always cracking jokes. The journey from Sousse to Tunis was over 90 minutes. So the return journey nearly took up half of the day. Ahmed took us to the locations as per the tour. He advised what to do and see but left us to our own. Always at the pick up point which was reassuring. The only thing that was not good was that we were a group of 7 and plus the driver makes 8. The vehicle that the tour company provided was very tight for our group especially given the long journeys. But overall it was worth the trip

The tour operator was on time for pick-up. The places visited were beautiful but more time is needed in Carthage. Sidi Bou Said was the highlight of the trip. Highly recommend.

He is an amazing guy and accounts for 99% out the great time we had on this tour!!
We felt he went out of his way to be with us and to take us to all the best sites at Sidi Bou Said (which is amazing by the way!!)
There was no pressure from him and gave us as much time as we needed to visit the sites

Al Hussein was our brilliant guide for the day, he arrived at our hotel in Monastir shortly before our pick up time and had been in contact with us the day before by WhatsApp.
Throughout the day Al Hussein provided us with lots of information about the places we were visiting and about Tunisia generally, he helped us to tailor our day to give us the best experience.
Our first stop was Carthage the ancient ruined city, then onto stunning Sidi Bou Said where Al Hussein accompanied us and took lots of fabulous photos and took us to an excellent cafe. Our final stop was the beautiful city of Sousse where we poked around the Sousse Souk and Al Hussein helped us secure the best bargains. We had a delicious afternoon meal in an authentic and very old Tunisian restaurant.
The whole experience gave us a real flavour of Tunisia and the region thanks to Al Husseins knowledge. If you are looking for a day out with your own guide then Simba Fun and Al Hussein as your guide is the option to go for.

2nd tour I booked with Simba during my short time in Tunisia. Same as the 1st, I was happy to have a private driver take me to multiple places I wanted to visit. Driver was a really nice guy, passable English but not proficient. The tour is brilliant for getting to see some truly outstanding places in and around Tunis, for me personally the Roman and Carthiginian ruins were fantastic highlights.
I paid £139 for this trip, as I done it solo, and as advertised expected a "brand new car", instead a pretty old Toyota hatchback turned up, I've seen groups complain about this and can understand why, I'm 5'11 and felt a bit cramped alone in the back. Ultimately I don't mind as I got what I wanted from the tour, but that is a bit of false advertising, and groups should be conscious of this.

The driver was really nice, but there was no information about historical facts and dates. I was let out at the appropriate stops with a time when I should be back at the car. The times given in the description were not adhered to. Instead of 1.5 hours in Tunis as stated, I had to be back at the car within an hour. So I could hardly see anything of Tunis. I only could walk up and down the one main street to the Medina, because the driver let me out at the beginning of the main street, so that I had a long walk to the Medina. I had no information about where I could discover which sights. I had about an hour time in Carthage and in Sidi Bou Said just under an hour. It was some kind of a rush through the places. The driver was only the driver and not a tour guide. I paid over 150 euros for this tour. Not even a small bottle of water was included. In principle, I should have been refunded at least 50 euros. The only positive thing was that the journey with the driver was very pleasant.

The driver was very pleasant and friendly. The tour is very flexible, time wise, but I would have liked a little more guidance on what is a good amount of time to spend in each area. It's difficult to say how long you want to spend somewhere you've never been before.
Also some lunch options would be helpful rather than being asked where do you want to eat lunch.

The tour was not bad , the driver was nice and friendly. We did enjoy our day out however the car smelt so much cigarette. For non smoker people that can be a cons otherwise it was lovely , we did had lots of time to visit, the driver didn’t rush us at all ,

We visited Carthage, Blue Town Sidi Bou Said, and Tunis's Medina. Communication with the manager/owner via WhatsApp before booking was prompt and helpful.
On the day of the trip, our driver/tour guide met us at a gas station near the cruise ship port, confirming the pickup beforehand. The process was smooth, and the guide was friendly and informative throughout the journey.
The guide waited for us at each site, ensuring seamless travel to the next destination. Having a private driver/tour guide was convenient, allowing us more time to enjoy the trip without the delays of a large tour group.
After the trip, the owner/manager followed up professionally for feedback. Overall, it was a good experience!

On meeting I think the guide should be more informative. Did not introduce oneself, we had to ask questions. Also did not provide water on entering the car. Need to interact more with clients. Fun part was lacking. Luckily we had our own fun factor. Also he knew it was my birthday no happy birthday on arrival. However, we enjoyed the excursion to where we went. Star I gave a 3 because I know if he does all above then that could help. But we did tip out of been courteous.

Tour covered all the major sites. We were pleased to be able to visit 5 different sites in Carthage. The Greco-Roman villa with its extensive and colourful mosaics was our favourite Carthage site. Sidi Bousaid was pretty but the relentless crowds detracted from the experience. We saw the entrance to the Medina but lacked the energy to navigate the labyrinth of souks. The vehicle’s air conditioning was inadequate given the summer heat and the vehicle lost power due to contaminated fuel. Otherwise a decent tour.
