It was amazing. Our tour guide Carrie was amazing. We had the best tour ever. She made us want to come back to Sitka
It was an excellent choice for us, my mom has mobility issues and getting her on a shuttle to get into Sitka was not going to work. We were picked up at the port and had a great time. Our guide was so knowlegedable and nice. She gave us great information and allowed us the time we needed with my mom. We were supposed to be dropped off in town but she had time and was gracious and took us back to the ship which was so helpful and amazing my mom had a great time.
Mail lady Kari was super knowledgeable. Not only did she do the standard sites but showed us the lake and hydro dam as well as the road to nowhere. She gave us a great recommendation for the gentleman that runs Biguns and we got a fresh huge Dungeness crab boil that was melt in your mouth good.

A little miscommunication when arriving. our guide had been told to meet us under some bridge, and the instructions from the company said to proceed up the ramp and to the parking lot and look for the minivan with the tour sign on top. Being from overseas, its not a matter of just "calling a number", not to mention coverage is not the best in AK. Finally some other local staff helped us find our way, as the tour operator/manager was mor arugmentative than helpful.
When we finally got connected with our guide (who could have driven over to us much easier than my sister n law who just had hip surgery walked over to the other location), we were on our way.
The guide was local (obviously) and very knowedgable. You could tell she had a real connection with Sitka, and was passionate about its history.
We went to all the usuals, fortress of the bear, raptor expeience, totum, etc. A strange highlight for us was the salt store (what a great story the owner has if you get to meet him), and a nice cup of choweder at the cart (not the shack, which was already sold out at like 11am) to warm us up.
The tour could have been customised to anything we wanted, we stuck with the "usual" program and took advantage of being on our own timeline.
Our driver was very personable and knowledgeable. She took us to some places we planned and then she had some great suggestions. I would highly recommend ty into anyone that isn’t a fan of big crowded buses . You are on your own schedule
We had a very clean and ready to go minivan all to ourselves. Carrie was our driver and she was very knowledgeable about Sitka. She made many suggestions on places to visit and learn about the native culture. She took care of my elderly mother helping her in and out of the car and taking care of her rolling stroller.
Carrie was amazing. She made the tour personal, and fun. She tailored our tour to exactly what we wanted. We learned a little history, ride to all the places in a warm car and heard a few personal tales of Sitka. Highlight of our trip to Alaska. Personal drop off at the ship was clutch!
Our driver/tour guide, Carrie, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and showed us interesting things around the island. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and she tailored our drive towards what we wanted to see specifically. The day was rainy, but the weather didn’t dampen our experiences. Thank you!

The tour guide Carrie was great! She’s long time resident in Sitka and knew the area very well, and took us to all the places that we wanted to hit in a short time. Very knowledgeable about the local area and very comfortable in the van. Missed the cruise group tour crowds going through the fortress of bear and raptor center. Awesome experience!
Carrie was fabulous!! She took us to all of the best Sitka places! We loved the RaptorCenter and the Fortress of the Bears. Very knowledgeable and customized our day to our wishes and also our needs. Definitely the best way to experience Sitka plus the van was super comfortable!!!!

Hiring a driver for two hours was absolutely fabulous in Sitka! We had a wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly tour guide by the name of Kerry!
We thought we booked a trip with them specifically in the morning and they changed the time to afternoon and did send us that info via email but we did not realize it! So we walked around and saw most of the things they were planning on taking us to. So you could save that $385 and do the majority of it on your own. Our tour guide Kari was extremely knowledgeable, kind and did take us to a few other places though.
Carrie was awesome and really knowledgeable about Sitka and the history of the area - we were able to see so much and so comfortably- Alaska Raptors, the Bears, Russian Orthodox Church, the totems, had Ludwig’s crab chowder..
Best way to learn the history and actual daily lives of those who live in Sitka. Our driver was exceptional. Lived here her whole life. Shared so much history with us.
This was a great option as we did many things offered by shore excursion in a shorter time. We saw Fortress of the Bear, raptor center, went over the bridge, hiked in the rainforest, and went through town. Carrie also recommended some excellent chowder to try and it was so good. The entry fees were not included but still a good deal for a few people traveling together.
Ben was a fantastic guide! He showed up on time and was friendly and knowledgeable. Took us to all of Sitka's highlights.
We traveled with two teenagers and all four of us very much enjoyed our tour guide and her choices. She took use to the bear rescue center and raptor rescue center. Our teens felt that the bear center was one of the highlights of our Alaska cruise.
What a wonderful way to see Sitka. Our driver was extremely knowledgeable, made sure we saw all of the sites and made recommendations on where to shop and eat!

Going to the downtown, seeing the few locations of Sitka that made it into The Proposal, learning about the history of Sitka, seeing the bears, the dam and waterfalls.
I'm very disappointed with Baranof Taxi & Tours. We had our tour confirmed and pay for way before our cruise. We reserved the private tour for 11 am since the ship was planned to arrive and 10 am. Baranof change the plan and send me an email one day before the planned tour, knowing that we were sailing and that it was impossible for me to receive any email by then.
The ship docked at 10 am and all passengers could disembark at 10:30. By 5 min passed 11 we started to call Baranof and a fellow named Pad told us our tour bus had departed since 10:00 am which was not the agreement!!!! He refused by all means to help us out. But thank God we manage to get another tour from another company, and we still could enjoy Sitka. In the meantime, I've been refunded for this tour and for me this case is closed.
Carry was great, friendly & so knowledgeable. We definitely recommend the excursion and the company. Would recommend it if we wanted to stop and see something she was more than willing to do that. It was just so much easier than being on a big bus full of people.
Keri is very informative! She’s a local and knows the area very well. She even took us to a new place (mountain), very nice view, as long as you’re not afraid of heights. It’s also close to the cruise ship docks. 🙂
