The observation deck provides a striking view on all sides of the waterfront and downtown Seattle. Despite some overcast, we managed a glimpse of Mt. Rainier.
We enjoyed a cocktail in the rooftop bar and then took our time to take the self-guided tour of the ground floor museum.
A fun experience. Cocktails were well made. I had the Espresso Martini. I like the edamame, well seasoned and tender. The view was great and Mount Rainier was gracious and made a nice appearance.
Booking 2 adult tickets on Viator was cheaper than buying online or in person at Smith Tower.
The original west coast "skyscraper" is a must see when in Seattle!
Seeing the sunset at Smith Tower was a beautiful way to end the day. The light playing off the water surrounded by ferrys and other boats was picture perfect. The menu promoted local distilleries and played of the prohibition era.
Ask the elevator attendant about any living US President. He is a bank of knowledge!
We visited mid-week at noon and had the entire place to ourselves. The museum is quick and informative, and the bar and wraparound deck gave a great view of the city.
We really enjoyed it.
A really great historical building that offers fantastic views of the city. Cheaper than the space needle with lots of historic charm.
this is a short but sweet self guided tour. You’ll learn amazingly interesting facts about the building, pioneer square, and seattle as a whole. at the end, you get amazing views and an amazing bar with friendly and sociable staff. would definitely recommend whether you are a party of one or 20. the observatory sour is delicious! i was able to sit right at the window with a great view since it was not that busy; even with the dreary weather, the views were fantastic and dare i say better than going to the needle?! for $20 you can’t go wrong. next time i’m in the city i will be back.
I was so excited to take the self-guided tour! I didn’t realize that L.C. Smith was the creator of the typewriter, and I also learned more about the famous operator Hattie Freeman, who worked by day and lived it up by night. After the tour, head up to the 35th floor for delicious small plates, crafted cocktails, and wine, then step outside to enjoy the 360 view of Seattle. It’s such a wonderful, intimate experiece.
We booked Smith Tower but there was a wedding reception being held 45 minutes after our arrival. We were told on arrival that we could only stay for 1 hour.
Worth every Penny!!! The history is so interesting and then the food in the restaurant was very good. And to top it off the views were spectacular!
We had reservations and when we went the young lady at front desk screamed we are closed even though it was 2 hrs to closing and wouldn’t even explain why when we had reservations

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear that your experience at the Smith Tower Observatory didn’t meet your expectations. We always aim to provide the highest level of service and hospitality, and it’s clear we fell short in this instance.
I’d appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and see how we can make things right. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at mgibson@smithtower.com — I’d love to hear more details and work toward a resolution.
Thank you again for your honesty. We value all feedback and are constantly striving to improve.
We paid $22 for a ticket that was offered for $10 at the booth. Buy local. Smith Tower was great though.
Great history. This was something you must do to elevate your Seattle experience. Highest building west of the Mississippi.
It was awesome! We got in and walked through the museum like part of the exhibit. People were really friendly and super knowledgeable. If you have an opportunity to go, please do. Worth every penny!
The views were spectacular. We were late due to traffic and our tourist status, but they still accommodated us as best as they could.
Very cool look into history. The self guided tour and views were amazing. The speakeasy area was really busy (probably common for a weekend day) so expect a wait. The staff was super friendly even with all the crowds (not something your normally get from stressed staff). The food and drinks were great.
Observatory and museum very well. Bar and restaurant had terrible service and mediocre food. Eat before or after going
Wont refund you even though they are happy to sell a ticket online during a time and day they are closed for a private event.
Call ahead of time. I booked this tour and it was cancelled. Us four sisters flew into Seattle as a reunion from all parts of the world. It was disappointing to be told our tour was cancelled, if we wait an hour and pay more money we may attend another group. Out of all the viator tours I have done, this was the only one that let us down.
The Smith Tower is a must-see in Seattle if you like architectural finds! It is beautiful. We had lunch on the 34th floor. It has Asian food and was delicious. The views are amazing. On a map of the city St James church was marked. We went there and it is a magnificent church!
Reservations via Viatour might be good if you want to ensure you get a table. We were given a “reserved” table that was not in a great space. It was a bit disappointing. The food and drinks were better than I expected and were high but in line with these sorts of observation decks.
Great! It was under renovation but the Staffs were still professional and we were able to take more photos!
Our first time to the Smith Tower, the history displayed and the old elevators made the experience awesome. The restaurant at the top had a nice view and we were able to enjoy lunch while enjoying the view.
The history of the tower and of course the views food and drink at the observatory on the 35th floor! Charcuterie was delicious!
Great experience and awesome views !!
Lots of historical information on the way up and a very entertaining elevator operator made for and excellent afternoon. Beautiful old building with an entertaining past.
walking around the top and seeing the sights , the food was excellent but a bit pricey. We totally enjoyed the whole experience.
Do not go. It was not impressive. Food was way over priced and the service was extremely slow. The view wasn't great.
Good view of the downtown Seattle skyline. An interesting part of Seattle history. I went on this tour years ago. While some things haven't changed. Some new buildings have been added since the last time that I visited Smith Tower.
Wonderful 360 degree view. Reserved table, food and drinks available. Can stay a long time if desired, light rail access only one block away.
Have a few drinks in the historic bar. Walk outside with no glass between you and the Seattle skyline. Watch the sunset while feeling the breeze.
