It was an very informative and exciting experience. Steep hiking. Definitely recommend long pants and a long-sleeved shirt and insect repellent. The tour had some amazing views. Ronaldo the guide was very knowledgeable and fluent also in English, he explained everything very well and answered all questions. I would definitely recommend this tour. Reynauldo was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, friendly, and local. There is a bit of walking so be prepared, but well worth the trek. Saw and learned about different wildlife. Also, the coffee was excellent and hands on with Cocoa was a bonus.

I had a wonderful travel experience. Everything was coordinated well from pick up and drop off in santa marta. Lunch was excellent. The tour guides were very informative and entertaining. You are able to buy small samples of artisan coffee and the original coffee beans here. I was with a group and everyone was friendly and helpful. Its important to bring hiking shoes and at least 3 litres of water due to the terrain and humidity to last you the 8 hours.

Wear good shoes because there’s some walking uphill. Have plenty of water. Private waterfall was a plus.

    Great Eco Tour!

    Humaira_G, Jan 2026
We had a great tour. Fun walking, great information about the eco system. The organic coffee farm & eco lodge were hidden gems I wouldn’t have known about if I visited Minca on my own.

    Full Minca Experience

    Julie_L, Sep 2025
This was such a good tour to spend a full day in Minca. We hiked to a coffee farm, saw some fantastic nature along the way. Then hiked to a waterfall and had the option to jump in. Afterwards, we traveled on foot again to a cocoa farm. There we had a lovely lunch, learned about the animals in the area and got to make some chocolate. Best hot chocolate I've ever had. We really enjoyed how passionate our tour guide was about the land and nature. I would warn that some of the hike is a bit strenuous so just be prepared!

    Informative, Fun Coffee/Chocolate Experience!

    Andrea_W, Mar 2025
Very informative. The guide had a lot of knowledge about coffee and the ecology of the area, and it was great that he did the tour in both Spanish and English. The woman who did the presentation on chocolate was also amazing and we even had a local singer/songwriter provide musical entertainment at the beautiful restaurant where we had a delicious lunch. Very much worth doing! Of course it was great we got to sample the coffee and the chocolate!

    Exceptional and Full Day!

    Vicki_B, Mar 2025
This was seriously one of the best full day tours I've ever signed up on. It was packed full of interesting activities. If you're just looking for physical activity and thrill, probably not the best choice but if you want to learn about the natural environment here, I can't imagine a better choice. The ride to Minca was by taxi. 🚖David, the driver, was very accommodating and picked me up at my hotel, even though I hadn't prearranged that. I was thankful to be able to save that extra half mile walk from the prearranged meeting spot. Tony was an awesome tour guide. Very very patient, kind, and extremely well educated about his natural environment. I learned so much about the jungle flora and fauna. I've been on coffee and cacao tours before. This was so much more informative with talks by 3 different local botanists/naturalists. I am a design-builder by profession. I learned a lot about bambo construction and how to naturally prevent termites from being attracted to wood. Ate coca tree leaves that cocaine is made from. We were introduced to leaves that can be used for natural mosquito repellent. But I didn't see any mosquitoes on the hike. At 69, im in moderately good shape and found the hiking part just a tiny bit challenging. 4.5 mi up and down moderately steep hills. It's nothing that someone who is active, at any age, can't handle. Minca is a really cute little town. The waterfall is really just a spillover into a man made pond, lovely and very refreshing. The perfect midday break after getting the coffee talk and taste. I highly recommend this tour to anyone with limited time that wants to pack a lot in a day.

Wonderful guide. He had a ton of information on the environment as well as the history of local culture. Of course the coffee was amazing and the cacao was the best I’ve ever had. Be prepared to hike! And bring a towel for the waterfall.

Fun day beautiful scenery in Minca

    steven_b, Dec 2023
Fun day lots of walking and beautiful scenery. The tour was probably 1-2 hours too long the lecture about bamboo and chocolate needs to be condensed into 10-20 minutes max as everyone in the group was tired and wanted to end tour at this stage

    Awesome!!!

    Tim_S, Aug 2023
Our guide was excellent! He was knowledgeable, fun, great sense of humour and kind. He even timed a rain shower at the end of our excursion during the chocolate making portion of the tour and then the sun came out! Awesome time and really nice people on the tours as well!

    10/10!! A must if in Minca/Santa Marta

    Riva_B, Jul 2023
Amazing tour to get to know the local culture and cultivation of coffee and cocoa! Our tour guide Tony was super fun and knowledgeable with the biodiversity of the region as well. Small groups made the experience more enjoyable and well-paced, you could ask all the questions in the world without feeling overwhelmed or rushed!

    Time & Money Well Spent

    Timothy_B, May 2023
The guide was engaging, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout the tour. The coffee, lunch, and ecology portions of the day were well executed. Seeing aspects of the landscape during the walking portions was interesting, as well.

    Great Tour!!

    Kristyna_B, May 2023
This was a great tour! We were picked up on time at the meeting point (along with a few other travellers on the tour) and were driven in an air conditioned van up to Minca. From there, we hiked ~45-60 minutes to the coffee plantation. Most of the hike was along a trail through the jungle, and it was mostly flat or uphill. Our guide stopped at a few points to talk about wildlife and bamboo which provided nice breaks. From the coffee plantation we hiked another roughly 15 minutes to the waterfall. The path to the waterfall was quite steep. Make sure to bring good shoes (runners or hiking shoes) and a bathing suit to swim at the falls. We then walked another 30 minutes or so to the lunch spot. This part of the walk was quite hilly but it was along the road (not the jungle trail) and our guide kept up a good pace despite the Colombian heat! Definitely make sure to bring lots of water!! I didn't see anywhere to buy water along the way. The lunch spot has a beautiful view, and the provided lunch was delicious (chicken, rice, veggies)! After lunch we learned about some of Colombia's biodiversity + learned about how to make chocolate before completing a quick 10 minute walk back to town to get picked up + driven back to Santa Marta. Expect to do ~2-2.5 hours of walking (mostly in the morning - the afternoon is primarily spent at the lunch spot).

Fab Tour of flora, fauna, coffee and cocoa production.

    Serena_L, Apr 2023
Great tour itself with lots of information on the Minca region, coffee production, cocoa production and biodiversity, and a refreshing dip in a waterfall. Bring waterproof case for your iPhone for pics and water shoes for the falls. The lunch was EXCELLENT and the views were spectacular. Nothing bad to say about the tour. As for the middle man agency that picked me up - delayed by an hour and thought my pick up was a different location despite confirmation. So that was a bit annoying.

    Fun, tasty and comfortable

    vilde_a, Mar 2023
Amazing tour! Our guide Sam was super lovely and engaging. Fun to see and taste the different steps of coffee and chocolate making - would recommend tasting the coffee with the syrup as well! Had a refreshing swim in the waterfall, so definitely bring swimwear. Most of the walking is done on roads, so not that challenging. We also had a safe and comfortable drive from Santa Marta to Minca. The tour is definitely worth the money :)

Favourite tour, Minca is a dream!

    Salma_S, Mar 2023
My favourite tour with beautiful jungle trek with local guides and waterfall for a refreshing dip! Lovely lunch with cocoa and coffee tasting! Very good communication in English too

    Fabolous tour

    Michelle_E, Mar 2023
This tour is a must. Pick up, communication and the tour all exceeded our expectations. The guides were funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. Remember to bring swimmers and comfortable shoes as some walking involved. Thanks Viator.

A must do in Santa Marta

    Jonathan_A, Feb 2023
The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee farm was a great experience. I appreciated the biodiversity class. And the cacao class, although short was a big hit if you’re a chocolate or cacao lover :)

    Wonderful!

    Jesus_P, Feb 2023
This was a wonderful excursion! Our guide Tony was fantastic - a professor of ornithology and biology, he was highly knowledgeable on the biodiversity of the region and clearly has a passion for what he does. The jungle sights were beautiful, and the coffee farm tour and cocoa presentation were incredibly informative. Be prepared to walk several miles on a variety of terrains and inclines, and bring a bathing suit if you want to swim at the waterfall.

    Don’t forget your swimsuit

    Olivier_H, Feb 2023
Coffee was great and informative Food was good Chocolate explanation was great. The trip to the waterfall wasn’t mentioned in the tour when we booked it. We had no idea we had to bring a swimsuit

    Very disappointed experience.

    Nikolaus_W, Nov 2022
The tour information tells that you get called minutes before pick-up. We were at the agreed pickup point in time. After 15 min waiting we went to our nearby Airbnb room, relying on the call to our Columbian prepaid cell number, which we provided during booking. No call. 20min past claimed time we got an email in Spanish (no English Tourguide as promised). They left without us. Then offered to inform us about another date 3 days later to take the tour. No call, No update. No refund. Very very bad experience! You lost a customer.

    Response from Host, Nov 2022

Good morning Nikolaus. I have as evidence the Tripadvisor chat in which they show that if we communicate with you. We waited for you for 30 minutes and you didn't answer the messages. If we pick you up at the place you indicated despite the fact that the pick-up point was not on our route, we did everything on our behalf to comply with you but you DID NOT ANSWER THE CHAT in which I have sent messages indicating that everything was ready for your collection. The other travelers of the tour are already annoyed by the delays of almost half an hour of waiting. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait any longer because of the pressure from the other travelers. Anyway, we have refunded your money. Happy Nikolaus day.

    Our guide was fantastic,...

    Byrion_S, Oct 2022
Our guide was fantastic, taking us on a wander through stunning scenery, and explaining local coffee and chocolate production. A stop for a swim at a waterfall, and an excellent lunch. Spotting a toucan was the icing on the cake. Five stars!

    A must do.

    Liseth_W, Aug 2022
This tour was worth the money. You get picked up from your hotel/hostel. You are then driven approx 40 min to Minca. And a guide will walk you up into the mountains, you will stop at a waterfall, which is amazing, then you will hike some more to the coffee farm, get a review of the process, taste the local coffee and be able to buy the product. Then you have lunch which is included (it was really good). And there they do a talk about colombias wildlife and the process of making chocolate. The tour guide Sam, was great very knowledgeable and funny. Remember to tip your guide and your pickup person.

Enjoyable and interesting, just had some issue afterwards with something I ate

    Cheryl_H, Aug 2022
I liked the small group that I was transported with. We then joined up with some bigger groups at the location. The plants and the few animals we saw were amazing and the tour guide is very knowledgeable. He explains things well In Spanish and English. The samples (coffee, Licor, chocolate)all tasted good. One problem: the restaurant food tasted good and looked healthy, BUT at 2 am the following morning, I got sick with diarrhea and vomiting. The excursion food was about all I ate that day (plus a snack of nuts), so I think something I ate or drank during the excursion was to blame. The next day was my last day in Colombia, and I felt so bad that I didn’t do anything I had hoped to do and was worried that I would feel too sick to travel. Also, I wish I’d brought a pair of dry wicks on the excursion. I didn’t know we’d be crossing several rivers.

    Great Tour, terrible transport

    Marko_D, Aug 2022
Positive: the tour was amazing. We would definitely recommend it! Wonderful scenery and delicious coffee and cocoa Negative: The transport was absolutely terrible! The taxi that drove us from the hotel to Minca did not have seatbelts and the taxidriver was driving like crazy!! We were scared for our life. Definitely a terrible experience.

    Good, remarkable, not for everyone

    Claudia_C, Jul 2022
Coffee and cocoa processes very well explained. Great lunch, coffee and cacao. Oído del Mundo waterfall was awesome. The guide was very good. Description of the tour did not include all information. It is a 5 hour walk uphill in the jungle on muddy trails. We were forced to pay extra for motorcycle transport after 4 hours.
