I have never had a guide as good as Erik...in nearly every sense of what a guide can be. He was beyond knowledgeable of the rainforest - the flora, the fauna, the history of the place, the history of the indigenous people, the ties to current Colombia, etc. etc. etc. (and I emphasize the etceteras!!). You can feel his passion as he takes you across the 9-mile trek out and back. He loves Tayrona and everything in it. And his passion goes beyond walking through nature - Erik is also an accomplished and incredibly talented nature photographer (ask him to see him pictures!). From start to finish, I knew that I was in good hands. Erik loves to stop every few minutes to take a calm look and appreciate what is going on around you. Getting to the beautiful beaches was only the cherry on top of an otherwise incredible experience. In fact, if your goal is simply to just "get to the beaches as quickly as you can," I'd say you're wasting Erik's time! He'll happily take you, of course, though you are missing out on what would otherwise be such a deep and beautiful experience.

Fantastic day in Tayrona with our guide who was kind, respectful and thoughtful about our experience. We also had a great driver to and from Santa Marta that was included in the experience. We probably could have figured out the trip on our own, but it was well worth the cost to have someone take care of us door to door.

This tour will be incredible no matter who your guide is. It’s a hike through a jungle teeming with wildlife leading to three picturesque tropical beaches. But we got David, who is an absolute gem. We ended up inviting him to our wedding and meant it. He is as knowledgeable and professional as you need and as friendly and funny as you could want. Can’t overstate how great of an experience David and this park provided us. If you’re staying in Santa Marta and have a free day, do it. (Also shout out to our driver Alex!)

Fantastic tour - well worth the time and effort. Wouldn’t want to do this hike without a guide - we learned so much about the park, the indigenous tribes and the wildlife. David was amazing and fun to be with all day. If you are worried about the hike, it is completely doable. There are some climbs in the beginning, but it’s mostly flat and some very muddy spots closer to Cabo San Juan. Bring cash to spend along the way - there are many opportunities for popsicles, fresh coconut, fresh juice, restaurants, etc along the route. Also: Cabo San Juan itself is over crowded and over-rated. Do as David suggests and stay at the 2nd beach for more swimming time, less crowds and more chill vibe. We were dumb enough to push on to Cabo San Juan and then circled back to 2nd beach instead (La Piscina).

Our guide Diva was a 10 out of 10. Very knowledgeable a we had a wonderful experience. It did not get a 5 as the horses during part of the trip detracted form our experience .

Couldn’t have asked for a better day! Well, maybe turning down the heat a bit.
Great communication from the tour company, prompt pick up, safe and comfortable trip, friendly and knowledgable driver and guide, delicious food, wonderful views - it really was a wonderful day! Yes, it’s expensive but for the convenience and the organisation, information and help i recieved from my guide, Cesar, it was well-worth it. Cesar showed me things I would have missed, answered all my questions and made sure I was safe throughout the whole trip, not only helping me but others on the hike as well. I think it would have been incredibly tough to do it on my own, with the little Spanish I have and how very hot it was. Remember to bring a change of clothes and a bit more water for when you’ve hiked back to the car - you’ll feel so much better!

César was a fantastic tour guide. Not only did he have interesting knowledge of the park and the areas around it, but he was also very concerned with our well being and making sure we were good the entire time. It does get HOT there, so bring plenty of water. You can buy at a few places in the park but it's of course more expensive.
10/10 would do again, but only if we go with César a second time!

This tour was my absolute favorite day during our visit to Santa Marta. Everything ran so smoothly from pick up to drop off.
Our guide, Cesar, was AMAZING. On our way from our hotel to the park entrance, Cesar told us all about the history of Santa Marta and Tayrona Park. I was a little worried about the hike, but Cesar let us keep our own pace and we stopped occasionally for photos, history lessons, to see animals, and to learn about the different plants. The trail is mostly flat with just a few inclines/declines. Make sure you bring water, but there are also plenty of vendors along the way selling some if you run out.
We were a little hesitant to book a private tour, but it was honestly so worth it. We got to explore and swim at our own pace and Cesar was super flexible with whatever we decided.

We had an amazing time with our tour guide, Paula! She was knowledgeable, helpful, and fun & friendly! We learned many things related to Tayrona and Colombia. It gave us peace of mind to be with someone to guide us and take us to a calmer beach. My only complaint is that it’s expensive. We didn’t think it was worth $300 US dollars.

I was looking for a private tour because I wasn’t sure if the group tours would return me in time for my flight. So glad I came across Bukap Travels. The co-founder Juan Carlos was personable and allowed me to amend my tour to add another person last minute and pick up hotel. It was such a pleasure dealing with him. Our professional bilingual guide Andres Salcedo had us so entertained and was such a great guide through Tayrona. We learned so much from him about everything. He’s also pretty funny too. Our professional driver Hernando Martinez was a fantastic driver and was wonderful to talk to. Highly recommend booking this company!!!

The tour was great. We have visited all the beaches in the park, have explanation about the fauna and lunch organized without to have to wait. We have also skipped the line for entrance. The guide was great. Highly recommended

We (party of 2) had an amazing trip to Tayrona National Park. We had been debating on doing it on our own to save money but in hindsight we are so glad we did it through this tour. Our driver Edgar got us to and from safe and sound. He was prompt and arrived 10 mins early. Our guide, Andres, made the trip a memorable one. He had a lot of knowledge and passion about the park and Colombia in general. He knew areas to pause and wait for monkeys and other interesting critters to come out. We even saw a capybara which was such a unique experience. Andres was the most professional tour guide we have ever met. He showed us things we would have missed and is very worldly, curious, and insightful. The three of us had great conversations throughout the moderately challenging hike. We relaxed on the beautiful beaches and Andres arranged lunch with the best view in the park. Andres will go above and beyond for you. He even arranged dinner reservations in the city center for us. If you are hesitant, don’t be! The level of English all the guides had was the best we had experienced in Colombia. It was a day that we’ll never forget.

Tayrona was amazing. We saw a coral snake (from a safe distance), monkeys, and amazing birds. The trek was definitely a real hike, so be in shape to go on this excursion. We went all the way back to the second swimming beach for just over nine miles round trip. If you like amazing vistas, beaches, and forests this hike is for you

Alex was an excellent tour guide! Both he and our driver, Aldo, were professional, prompt, and very considerate from the very start. We were picked up from our hotel and comfortably transported privately to the entrance of Tayrona Park where Alex helped us obtain park tickets. He was able to lead us through the trail to eventually reach the final beach, Playa Cabo, which had a breathtaking view. Along the way, Alex knowledgeably responded to all our questions regarding Colombia and its culture. He was also able to expertly point out interesting plants along the trail and helped identify several animals (including Capuchin monkeys!)

We had a fantastic guide in Mr. Eduardo Mejia - he answered our questions in great detail, giving us social and environmental contexts, gave us an overview of Colombian history and culture and also made the effort to understand our own cultures, drawing parallels across cultures. And ofcourse he was very patient with our speed of hiking! We loved the park even more because of Mr. Mejia.

Diva is a very knowledgeable guide and she brought the park to live for me, pointing out floras and faunas I would totally ignore without her. The pace was perfect for me and You would have the freedom to choose where I want to spend more time. Along the way you would also hear the history of the local tribes and even meet some of them after Diva introduces you. I feel like walking with a friend to places she’s familiar with.

Honestly, this is a difficult hike but worth the views. Diva, our guide was great at going at our pace and explaining things around us. We got to see two types of monkeys, including howler monkeys. The beach was worth it. The nicer and calmer beaches are near the end of the hike and we stopped at the calmer beach, swam, and had lunch there. Because this is a private hike, you can go at your own pace and time which is nice. If you choose the hike, be sure to have something calm to do the next day lol.

Marvelous experience!! First off our tour guide Eduardo and our driver Mario were right on time to pick us up from our hotel. They knew to leave early to beat the traffic and get there at an early hour. Once we got there Eduardo took care of everything from getting the tickets to securing a passage into the park in our private car. Once we got there he set expectations and was every informative about everything pertaining to the tour and also any questions we had about the country. He took us to 3 beaches and let us decide were we wanted to lay out and jump in the water. He recommended what places to eat and which bathrooms to use. He was a great tour guide. He even helped us get a reservation at a restaurant back in Santa Marta. If you are looking for a tour into the park look no further book with Eduardo. He deserves all the stars and more.
