This was one of the absolute best parts of our very first ever trip to Puerto Rico! Our guide, Felix, was so warm and welcoming. He was so funny and informative and the drive from San Juan to Lajas (where the bioluminescent bay is) was very scenic as we go through the mountains! The van we were transported in was very comfortable and we had an intimate size group of just 6 people which was awesome compared to most tours where it can be overcrowded. Felix was kind enough to point out Salinas and Ponce as we drove when I let him know that’s where my family came from. The meal we were provided was very tasty and not heavy so it was perfect to eat just before swimming. I had the garlic shrimp with fried plantains and my friend had the grouper bites with rice and beans. There was plenty of time after eating to explore the tiny town where there were several vendor stands and souvenir shops. Going to the sandbar on the boat and swimming with the tarpon fish in crystal clear water at sunset was a beautiful experience. They fed the fish right by us at the boat so we could see them and pet them. Then we headed to the bio bay while vibing to Bad Bunny. There were plenty of sodas, beers and waters provided in a cooler for us. The bio bay had warmer water than the sandbar and is 15 feet deep so they provide floatie noodles. We went like 2 days after the new moon so there was good visibility although it was cloudy and rained a bit on and off. We didn’t mind, we’re already wet from swimming either way. The bio bay glowing effect is hard to capture but Felix did take some photos for me which was so sweet and very appreciated. It looks blue in photos but in reality it’s like these white glittery sparkles like stars. You can make magical trails of stars in the water like you’re Tinkerbell when you move your arms and legs. I saw the starry water glitter on my hair and drip down my arm which was extremely cool looking. If you really kick your feet a lot and open your fingers and make like angel wings in the water with your arms you can make a bigger effect of lots of starry glowing bubbles and waves. We had plenty of time in the water and then headed back to the boat where we were taken back to get changed into dry clothes. There was not much bathroom space for this so bring something simple to change into. Also it can get chilly once you’re wet and the sun has gone down so bring a jacket for afterward. For the drive home Felix was kind enough to take us directly to our Airbnb instead of the original meet up point. It was a long day — we left for Lajas at 2:45pm and we got home around 11pm but it was very much worth it! A real bucket list experience. Cannot recommend this company enough!

Best experiences in the world! I didn't know that it existed in Puerto Rico. I will come back to bring my whole family.

Felix, the driver was wonderful, treated us like family. Took care of us during the drive. The experience was seamless, and epic. If you ever get the chance to do this, don’t think twice. This is one of the best experiences of my life, and the tour provided clear instructions on where you would be picked up, the van was clearly marked, so I knew how to look for. The crew on the boat did a great job providing drinks and information about the lagoon where the bioluminescence takes place. And we saw exactly what we wanted to see. And it’s not even describable, you have to do it for yourself. Epic experience!!

Great experience and not to be missed. Our guide Felix, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. The stop to swim with the Tarpons was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this tour.

Felix was a great guide! Captain Ryan a great captain! The sunset swim at the sandbar was fun and the bioluminescent swim was absolutely amazing! Bucket list item checked off.

Fantastic day with Felix and Ryan - driving from San Juan across the island to La Parguera for dinner and some salsa dancing in the square, before heading out on the boat to the sandbar to watch the sun go down and then on to Bioluminescence Bay for the main attraction, and it did not disappoint! The water is bathtub warm, and the bioluminescence was magical - tiny diamond-like stars appearing when you moved your arms and legs in the water. With a dark sky and just the stars above and the glowing in the water, we didn't want to leave. A truly magical experience that is well worth the time (around 8-10 hrs all in). Felix (Mr “Family”) and Ryan were amazing hosts. 12/10 would do again in a heartbeat.

It was relaxing and amazing! You will enjoy dinner and shopping in La Parguera You will have two opportunities to get into the water. You will swim amongst some large fish and then experience the glow of the bay. My husband and I are in our late seventies and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the group we were with. It was fun!

Great experience, chill trip in nice van, provides dinner and trip on boat to view sunset and relax in water
The bay is pretty cool, not quite like the pictures but still worth it. Tour guide Julian was great. Would recommend

Our guide George and boat captain Ryan were incredible and key to making this an experience we'll never forget. The small lunch was delicious and we felt very welcome. George's attentiveness made this long day so worth it.

This experience is a MUST DO but especially with this company. Our guide Felix took care of everything from start to finish , had such a fun and upbeat personality and explained about the island on the drive. He was very funny and accommodating. The meal provided in town was tasty. My kids age 5 and 8 did very well although the water is a bit chilly at night just be ready with warm jacket and towels for the boat ride back.
I would highly recommend this tour and we are so glad we did it as a family!

Swimming in the bio-bay was fun! So was our stop at the sandbar. Driving over the mountains provided excellent views of geology and geography. Our guide Julien was kind and knowledgeable, and made us all feel safe and welcome.

I never received any communication other than the Viator confirmation email. The tour operator arrived to pick us up 30 mins prior to the time in the confirmation email and then were incredibly rude when we were not at the pick up spot. They then said turn the Uber around and drive 20 minutes in the opposite direction to meet them (we were on the highway in lots of traffic). They then sent me a screenshot of a text they claim then sent but I never received. I’m sure the tour was lovely but I wouldn’t know. And they refused to give me a refund.

What an incredible day! George was fantastic! Super informative, patient and made you feel comfortable throughout the entire day! Pack a sweatshirt and some snacks for the ride back. Definitely a very long day but so worth it!

An excellent tour from start to finish! Our tour guide/driver Felix was amazing, high energy and helpful from pick up to drop off, he did it all! Swimming in the bay was such a unique experience, highly recommended. Consider bringing something warm to wear on the boat, it's a chilly ride after the sun goes down and after you're already wet.
Megan_H, Feb 2026
This was an awesome experience and definitely worth the money! Transportation, dinner, sunset at the sandbar, waters/beers/soda, and swimming in bioluminescent bay all included. I had an awesome time and would definitely recommend this excursion!!!
Steven_S, Feb 2026
Felix was a great host and made the trip fun and comfortable letting us know about sites on the way and what to expect. The bay was not as bright as some pictures but the sparkling water was amazing.

The tour lasts several hours, but we got to drive through and see Puerto Rico. A boat takes you out into the water into one of the phosphorescent bays. We had a great experience. Our guide Felix was amazing!
Erica_W, Jan 2026
Wonderful! It was amazing to swim in the bioluminescence!! Definitely recommend. The guide was super fun as well.
Virginia_P, Jan 2026
This was an amazing trip. Our driver/guide Felix was friendly and learned everyone’s name quickly. There were 12 people in the group. He drove us to the southwest shore, we had a quick yummy dinner then boarded the boat. First stopped to swim at a sandbar, then after dark continued to the bioluminescent bay. We were able to swim and interact with the “glow in the dark” organisms by moving our arms and legs. It was an incredible experience. Felix also took photos of us with the blue glow from the boat as it was hard to photograph while in the water (even with waterproof cameras). Remember to bring tip money with you on the boat to tip the boat captain as well as tipping Felix afterwards. Anything you bring with you on the boat may get splashed. It is a bit of a drive but over good roads so we felt safe in a comfortable vehicle and Felix driving.
This was a much better experience for us than some tours where you are paddling a kayak in the dark. Plus we got to swim in the bay!!!
Highly recommend.

This was an amazing activity. The guide was great and the trip was fantastic. I would do it again any time I return to PR.

Really neat experience. The bioluminescence wasn't apparent from the boat, but when we got in the water it was like glitter flowing from our fingertips when our hands moved.
In addition, we enjoyed the boat ride to the sandbar to watch the sunset, and a yummy dinner in Parguera beforehand. The trip was totally worthwhile and we'd recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience.
Arden_D, Dec 2025
What a beautiful experience!!! Its not quite like the pictures you will see, which are taken with a long exposure, but it genuinely feels like swimming in starlight. Almost like fireflies going off in the water when you move!!
It was beautiful and our tour guide, driver, and captain were all amazing. We even experienced some unexpected rain and were ready to call the whole thing a wash, but they turned everything around and kept our mood up and it ended up being such a blast even with the rain!
Could not thank these guys enough. What am unforgettable experience!
Sara_N, Nov 2025
George, Our guide was fantastic. The meal was quite good. We were able to see the bioluminescence and it sparkled!
Jaimie_S, Nov 2025
This tour was the highlight of our trip! It is a long drive from San Juan to the bay, but the scenery is beautiful. We had a great meal and had plenty of time to swim in the bay and experience the bioluminescence. I highly recommend this tour and would book it again when in San Juan.
RhodaValdez_B, Oct 2025
This is how to experience a bioluminescent bay - swimming in it! It’s worth the money instead of kayaks and boat.
Jesseca_D, Aug 2025
This tour was incredible! Getting to swim in the bioluminescents was a bucket list experience. Felix, our guide was fabulous, super kind and attentive. I recommend the garlic shrimp at the restaurant. The van ride was a little snug since it was full, but the ride over was beautiful. Highly recommend.
Jason_E, Jul 2025
Got picked up in a nice travel van with comfortable seats with usb chargers, cold ac and waters during travel. Host was super friendly and even shared info of the sites and areas during our drive. Food was great and authentic. The boat ride and captain was really good with info about the bay and experience, answered questions and also took pictures. Overall 10/10 full service experience
Shawn_O, Jul 2025
We had such an amazing time. Our Guide, George, was incredible. He made the experience so comfortable. He engaged us during the boat trip and the Bioluminescent water was surreal. I’ve never had an experience like that in my life.
Anthony_S, Jul 2025
The most amazing experience. You’ll never do anything more incredible. Felix was so kind, the food was amazing, the beauty of swimming in something like that is something words cannot describe. Highly recommend.
Belinda_G, Jul 2025
Worth every penny! We were picked up in a sprinter van and driven to La Parguera. The drive was extremely smooth and saw beautiful views out the window. The bioluminescent bay was the best thing I've ever seen in my life. Swimming in the water and seeing it on your arms and hair was magical. I'm so glad I chose swimming in the water over kayaking. Pro Tip: Don't put your phone in the ocean water because the salt will ruin it and it still won't turn on a week later. Water resistance doesn't mean anything.
