Amazon Experience

Peter_L, Apr 2026
This was a fun & informative way to experience the Amazon. Our guide Franco was truly amazing. We enjoyed every minute we spent with him.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

It means a lot to us that you enjoyed every moment, and we will definitely share your comments with Franco—he will be delighted to know he made your trip so special. We hope to welcome you again for another unforgettable adventure in Ecuador! 🌿

Read review before booking!

Amy_V, Apr 2026
The great thing is that it is clean and the guides are awesome. Our package was all inclusive and the food is not good and there are no snacks so you may go 7 hours between lunch and dinner. We bought food off the menu and saw most people doing the same. Even then, it was not great. The amount of physical exertion in the activities is underrated. Make sure you are fit! We did not get to go on the night walk because our initial schedule when booking said after dinner but at some point the guide decided before dinner and we had no clue. You do not get a schedule when you arrive. It is very vague, at least our guide was. We saw no animals except birds and insects, except in the rehab zoo. Well we did see monkeys on one excursion but only by our guide bringing food to feed them so they are trained. The caymen crocodiles are in a small lagoon owned by a family, again fed so they stay. We paid for the hot tub upgrade but it is not worth it. They have to fill it up every time you want to use it because there is no heater or jets. It is not clean. We did not use.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate every comment, as it helps us continue improving our services. We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed the cleanliness of the lodge and the work of our guides, as they are a very important part of the experience we strive to provide. Regarding wildlife, we would like to kindly mention that all activities take place in a natural Amazon environment, where animals are not domesticated. Sightings depend on factors such as weather, timing, and natural behavior, which makes each experience unique and authentic. In terms of the food, we work with fresh, locally sourced ingredients to offer the best possible quality in the region. We’re sorry to hear that it did not match your personal taste, as we understand preferences can vary. As for the activities, our team always provides prior coordination and guidance. We understand there may have been some confusion, but we’re glad to know that you were still able to enjoy the night walk during your stay. Regarding the jacuzzi, it is very important to us that our guests enjoy clean and hot water. For this reason, we offer a filling service upon request, without a fixed schedule, so guests can use it at their preferred time. As mentioned during your stay, this service can be requested at any moment. Additionally, since the jacuzzi is located outdoors and surrounded by nature, it is normal that leaves or flowers may occasionally fall into the water. This is part of the Amazon environment and not a sign of lack of cleanliness. Thank you again for your feedback and for visiting us. We truly hope to welcome you again in the future for an even better experience. 🌿

Pleasant 3 day trip

Joao_L, Dec 2025
I had a pleasant experience and I am glad I did the trip. The journey from Quito to the jungle lodge is 4,5 hours. The lodge accommodation is good and the staff are present but not very engaging. Our guide for the activities was thorough and good.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Interesting activities to keep everyone happy

Nita_S, Dec 2025
The first two days were full of activities, but on the last day there was a so-called chocolate tour, which was nothing great. They should have included an adventure activity instead.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us. We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed the first two days of activities, and we truly appreciate your comments regarding the chocolate tour on the last day. We’re sorry to hear that this experience did not fully meet your expectations. Your suggestion about including an adventure activity instead is very valuable, and we will definitely review our itinerary options to continue improving our tours. Thank you again for helping us enhance our services. We hope to welcome you back in the future for an even better experience.

Perfect short excursion

Robert_L, Dec 2025
The lodge is on the edge of the upper Amazon basin. Brilliant accommodation. We were concerned about mosquitoes but in the end saw none. The activities were well organised by local guides with extensive knowledge. The night walk was a highlight with such a large assortment of insects spotted.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for your great review Robert! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the lodge and felt comfortable during your stay. It’s also wonderful that the activities and our local guides made your experience memorable — especially the night walk. We appreciate you choosing our tour and hope to see you again for another Amazon adventure!

Look no further! This place is absolutely incredible and truly Magical! The views, lodge, tours and staff are amazing and we loved every single moment here. There’s such a mixture of learning, exploring and experiencing all of the jungle authentically. With the river tubing, jungle hikes, visiting the indigenous families, and visiting the conversation centre. We cannot thank Bryan enough for being the BEST guide and making our trip the most memorable. He wasn’t so knowledgable, kind and an overall joy to be around! Hands down the highlight of our trip!

Great way to get a taste of the Amazon!

Marc_S, Jun 2025
Our guide Brian was amazing. He grew up locally and was great at explaining how the native live and use all the plants in the jungle. I thought this itinerary sounded ambitious, but we did everything on the description. The resort was very nice as well. Definitely recommend this tour as an awesome introduction to the Amazon

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Marc thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience and that Brian made such a great impression—he truly has a deep connection to the regionWe're also glad the itinerary lived up to your expectations and that you found the resort comfortable. We hope to welcome you back for another Amazon adventure in the future!

This tour was actually...

Joan_C, May 2025
This tour was actually hosted by the Suchipakari lodge, which sits in a quite rural and isolated place. The staffs were very nice and friendly. Food were good too. Room was very nice, but without air conditioning. Fan was available though which helped a lot. The biggest issue was the communication. We were supposed to be picked up by an English-speaking guide at 8:00am, but at last minute, we were asked to leave at 5:00am without explanation. The driver who picked us up could not speak any English. According to the itinerary, the driver was supposed to stop at a few scenery places and explain to us what they are. However, due to communication issue, we only stopped at two places, and the driver took some pictures on us to fulfill his task, I guess. After 2/3 of the trip, the English-speaking guide finally hopped on and showed us the monkey beach. Our guide, Carlos was very nice and knowledgeable. He showed us different plants, gave us a night walk to see different insects. Next day he guided us to take a long (~45 minutes) forest walk to get onto the canoe. This forest walk was indeed pretty tough since it was raining pretty heavily and road condition was pretty bad: muddy, slippery, crossing the very shaky bridge. We had to do two of this walk, going there to meet the canoe, and coming back after the canoe ride. Speaking about the canoe, the driver was very experienced, I can tell. However, the life jacket was not enforced, which was extremely dangerous, given that we were traveling along the Napo River! However, I understand why some passengers did not want to wear the life jacket since they were so dirty! Overall this was an interesting experience for us. I just wish the communication could be better so we would be able to enjoy more about this trip.

Response from Host, May 2025

Dear Joan, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the hospitality of our staff, the local cuisine, and the activities led by our guide Carlos, who always strives to provide an enriching journey through the Amazon’s biodiversity. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the last-minute schedule change and the communication issues. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we are already working on improving coordination with our drivers and ensuring that an English-speaking guide is available from the start of each tour. Your comments about safety during the canoe trip and the condition of the life jackets have been taken very seriously. We have already begun the process of updating our safety equipment and reinforcing the importance of wearing it during all river activities. We understand the jungle trek in heavy rain was challenging, but we also hope it added to the authenticity of the Amazon experience. Despite the difficulties, we’re happy to hear that overall it was an interesting and memorable trip for you. Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us grow and improve. We hope to welcome you back in the future, with these improvements in place, so you can fully enjoy the wonders of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

They’re turning the lodge into a bop house

Anonymous, May 2025
This review is about the SUCHIPARK lodge the tour was on . It was empty the first night , the second they bring all these people to make some content , all of these people were p*rn actors (I don’t know who is in charge of marketing but selling a family vacation with p*rn/onlyf**S people ) they were filming everywhere, you were not able to use the pool or anything unless you wanted to be in the videos and online . Very noisy , also the activities were nothing as advertised, the “wild nature walks “ is basically a 20 min walk around the resort . Please choose other lodge and another activity’s maybe . But avoid this place .

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We have been in touch with the lodge regarding your comments, and they confirmed that during the dates of your stay, a group of young Ecuadorian influencers was also hosted. They are known for creating lighthearted and humorous social media content—not adult content. Like all guests, they were informed about the lodge’s noise policies and respectful behavior guidelines. We understand that their presence may have impacted your experience, and we sincerely regret that. The lodge also confirmed that when noise levels rose, the group was asked to reduce the volume in order to respect all other guests. However, at no point was any inappropriate or adult content being filmed. As for the activities, we’re surprised by your remarks, since the lodge is consistently praised for its natural setting and immersive jungle experiences. On the first day, the tour includes a short introductory walk in the afternoon (given the time of arrival), followed by river tubing, dinner, and a night walk to discover the rainforest after dark. This schedule is designed to ease guests into the environment, with longer treks and explorations taking place on the following days. That said, we take your review seriously and will use it to improve our coordination with the lodge to ensure all guests feel comfortable, respected, and fully satisfied with their stay. Your opinion helps us grow. Thank you again for your comments.

It was a Nice place and...

MayraElena_G, Jan 2025
It was a Nice place and with several activities but with very little time in the real forest and well preserved areas. The zone is very transformed into ranches and plantations so it is more a cultural than a natural experience of the selva region

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you very much for your feedback and for joining our 3-day Amazon experience. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the lodge and the variety of activities, though we’re sorry the immersion in untouched forest areas didn’t fully meet your expectations. The lodge is located in a transition zone between primary rainforest and areas where local communities live and work, which is why our tour includes both nature-based activities and cultural experiences — something many travelers value when visiting this part of the Ecuadorian Amazon. We also want to share that the deeper jungle activities typically take place on the second day of the tour, including longer hikes and river-based excursions. However, your feedback is very important and helps us keep improving our routes and expectations for our guests. We truly appreciate your comment and hope we’ll have the opportunity to offer you a more in-depth Amazon adventure in the future. Warm regards

An amazing adventure!

Louise_B, Jan 2025
It was an amazing experience in the Amazon Rainforest. We enjoyed all the wonderful activities plus the pool, dining etc.

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you had an amazing experience in the Amazon Rainforest and that you enjoyed not only the activities, but also the pool, dining, and overall atmosphere at the lodge. It means a lot to us to know you had a memorable stay — we’d love to welcome you back anytime for more jungle adventures! 🌿✨ Warm regards

A great experienced

Steve_M, Nov 2024
The tour was a great experience. We were collected by a private taxi from our hotel in Quito and driven 4 1/2 hours to the lodge. When we arrived it was raining very heavily there is a five minute walk on a trail which was very muddy We were glad we had left our large suitcases At the hotel in Quito. On arrival we were given a local drink and told the times for breakfast lunch and dinner We were advised they have power cuts from 11 to 3pm and 8 to midnight which added to the experience that you were in the jungle and it was great to walk around with torches and candle lights. highly recommend the tour the naturalist guides were very knowledgeable and they made the trip memorable. Reading the comments from past guests about being hungry. We found the food was plentiful It had flavour and the chef used local ingredients you was not left hungry! The schedule is vey action packed with lots of activities throughout the day once the tour started the guides explained to you what to wear and what to expect. The only negative comment there was no clear schedule so we did not know what we were doing. A very easy fix could solve this problem by a notice board or timetable could be in your room this is the same at meal times you had no idea what the menu was. For a two night trip highly recommend did not see much wildlife You need to go deeper into the jungle and spend at least 5 days. We recommend upgrading The room to the jungle suite for the extra $50per night. The tour ended in Tena And we got the local bus back to Quito for 9 dollars pp vs a private taxi for $130

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed review! We're delighted to hear that you had a memorable experience at our lodge and that you enjoyed the unique aspects of being immersed in the jungle. It's great to know that the naturalist guides and activities made your trip special and that you found the food both flavorful and plentiful – we take pride in using fresh, local ingredients to provide an authentic taste of the Amazon. We truly appreciate your suggestion regarding the schedule and meal information. Your idea of a notice board or timetable in the rooms is excellent, and we’ll work to implement it to enhance the guest experience. Clarity and convenience are important to us, and we’re grateful for this feedback. We’re glad you upgraded to the jungle suite and found it worthwhile. It’s also good to hear you explored a local option for transportation back to Quito, showcasing the flexibility we aim to provide for our guests. Your note about spending more time to venture deeper into the jungle for wildlife spotting is a great tip for other travelers. Thank you again for your thoughtful insights and for recommending our tour. We hope to welcome you back for an even longer adventure in the future! 🌿✨

Absolutely amazing!

Ashley_B, Oct 2024
From start to finish this tour was everything we could have hoped for! Erick (driver) arrived on time and taught us so much along the way. Please note there is significant climate change from Quito to the Amazon so I definitely recommend layers! Upon arrival to the hotel in the Amazon we were greeted by our guide Brian who is clearly passionate about the work he does. He was so knowledgeable and accommodating. We upgraded our room to the jacuzzi suite and there were only twin beds. Staff promptly carried down another bed for our son and turned ours into a king size bed. Lunch was delightful and the hammock on our suite was so relaxing! The tours were exactly as advertised and so informative! We especially loved the visit to anaconda island (read:no actual anacondas here) and the rescue center. Some important things to know: 1) book a massage! Seriously the best massage my husband and I have ever had. Mine was in the afternoon at 4:30 and it started raining which perfected the ambience. I did the chocolate exfoliant and massage for 90 min and my husband did a 60 min deep tissue. We have very different styles for massage and both were perfect with the same masseuse. 2) there is no power 2-6 at the resort. Both am and pm. This also means no wifi but lots of time to experience the pool and make new friends! The 2-6am was rough because it is hot with no fan. I would recommend packing a little battery operated fan for comfort! 3) bug spray! Obvious right?! I don’t mean while you are out trekking, obviously bug spray and full clothing helps. I mean at night after your shower! A majority of our bites occurred while we were sleeping but this is the Amazon so we did expect some bites and prepare! Pack Benadryl or antihistamine to help with the itch. 4) remember what a blessing it is to be able to experience this beauty! Sit on the second level of the bar and take in the beauty, watch the nature! It is hot, there are bugs, but it’s also a magical place!

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! It sounds like you had an incredible time during your stay, and we’re thrilled to hear that everything, from the punctual and informative transfer with Erick to your time at the lodge with Brian, met and even exceeded your expectations. We appreciate your helpful tips as well, especially about the climate changes and the importance of layers. Your room upgrade experience, along with the staff's quick assistance, highlights the dedication of our team to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hammock and the suite’s relaxing atmosphere sound like a perfect retreat, and we’re happy you enjoyed the tours, especially Anaconda Island and the rescue center. The feedback about the massage is great to hear! It sounds like the perfect way to unwind, especially with the chocolate exfoliant and the rain creating such a serene atmosphere. Regarding the power outages, we know this can be a challenge, and your suggestion of a battery-operated fan is very helpful for future guests. And yes, bug spray, especially for nighttime, is essential! Thank you for reminding everyone of the unique beauty of the Amazon. We’re so happy that you embraced it all and had such a magical experience. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

it’s overpriced in my opinion

Julia_A, Oct 2024
the tour guides and drivers were super nice . Room was nice too ( we upgraded to jungle view ) . it was nice but if i had a chance to do it again i would not spend money on it . Breakfast was very small and very simple ( we were hungry all day ) . Lunch that we had on a tour was very poor . Dinners were good but late and we were so hungry waiting for them . prices for drinks and massages are very high for Ecuador. the tour itself…i was not too impressed with program . it would be ok for half price or if you travel solo but 2 of us paid almost 1000$ with upgraded and it felt like it was too much . the grand ceibo trail was advertised as trekking . But it was actually just a walk around hotel which was still nice but not as advertised. hotel is far away from Quito and when we arrived we still had to walk quiet a bit to the hotel . the main program was scheduled for 2nd day . While it sounded like a lot on paper , we started at 9 am and were back at 3:30 pm . Animal rescue center was nice but don’t expect that you will get to feed or play with animals. These animals are meant to be released back in a while ( some not ) . But you will not get close to them. Basically , i was not impressed with the whole arrangements and felt like it was not worth it . We travel a lot ( it was my 9th country this year ) , so i can tell the difference between quality and just what was advertised. one thing i have to mention: our tour guides : Brian and Carlos were amazing . they really tried to make it as special as they could . thank you for that . and remember: the tour will not end back in Quito . You will have to pay additional 130$ to get back which was weird. But we got an hour and a half to spend at hot springs on the way back . Also : no hot water in our room few times at all . they had power off 2 times a day and because of that we had no wifi and no hot water but because our room was high up , we did not get cold water either

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you for your honest and detailed review! It seems that there were several positive aspects, but also some challenges during your experience. We’re glad to know that Brian and Carlos did everything possible to make your trip enjoyable, and that you appreciated the upgrade from a standard room to the suite with a jungle view. We understand that you felt the additional cost wasn’t justified, and it’s true that our standard and superior rooms are very comfortable, but the Deluxe Suite stands out for its higher location and exclusive amenities. We regret that the food did not meet your expectations, especially regarding the portion sizes for breakfast and lunch. While many of our guests praise the quality of our food, we will take your comments into account to improve. We will also consider the possibility of offering additional snacks to better meet the needs of our guests. As for the dinner schedule, we understand that the wait was uncomfortable. We had to adjust the schedule due to power outages that are currently happening nationwide in Ecuador, which we communicate to all our guests, and yes, this has slightly affected the service. We appreciate your patience with this matter. Regarding the prices for additional services, such as cocktails and massages, we have received positive feedback from other guests, as we maintain accessible rates compared to those in the city, despite being in a remote location. As you mentioned, guests must walk to our lodge, which is in the middle of the forest. We strive to offer experiences like the one-hour hot stone massage and Amazonian bamboo therapy at competitive prices so that our visitors can fully enjoy the experience. The Grand Ceibo Trail is another area where we regret it did not meet your expectations. It is important to note that the duration and type of trail activities can be adjusted according to guests' preferences. Your comments will help us improve communication on this matter, so it’s clear during the welcome briefing. As for the animal rescue center, we are committed to preserving wildlife and reintegrating animals into their natural habitat, so we do not promote direct contact with them. We have revised our program description to ensure it’s clear that there is no physical interaction with the animals. Regarding the additional cost to return to Quito, our program states that the tour ends in Tena, as many guests continue their journey to Baños or other destinations. However, we also offer options for public, shared, and private transportation, such as the one you chose, which allows stops at relaxing places like the Papallacta hot springs. We are sorry that the power outages and lack of hot water affected your stay. We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, as it will help us improve the experience for future travelers. We especially appreciate your recognition of the effort of our guides, and we hope that despite the challenges, Ecuador remains a special destination for you in South America. Thank you again!

We found a lot of the experience to be misrepresented. We upgraded to the jacuzzi room, but the jacuzzi was empty, we asked them to fill it, they did and it was super dirty, and then they drained it later that same night. There was also ongoing construction the entire duration of our stay, so instead of hearing the sounds of nature, we were listening to construction equipment go the whole time. Some of the outings were interesting and a cool cultural experience, others (like the chocolate "tour") just took place on the property of the hotel. Also, the food wasn't great.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re genuinely surprised by your comments, as we pride ourselves on providing excellent service and high-quality food, which we believe is among the best in the area. Regarding the jacuzzi, since it’s outdoors and surrounded by the forest, leaves can accumulate, and we try to manage this by filling and cleaning it as needed. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. As for the chocolate tour, we are proud of this aspect of our offerings. Our project emphasizes maintaining local traditions and permaculture, which is why the chocolate-making experience is held on our property. This process showcases the organic fruits and ingredients we cultivate ourselves. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and will review them with our team. We hope for the chance to provide you with a better experience in the future.

If you are in Ecuador, do not miss this trip!

It is a wonderful treat to been guided by a person who truly loves the rain forest. After the first day (tubing, rainforest walk, nightwalk) there was a guide change: on the second day, we went with Carlos Yaku Waira for the whole day, and we did cacao/chocolate on the last day with him, too. His friendly and time-embracing style was a real treat, and he opened our eyes for the rain forest. Thanks to him for this unforgettable and once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Carlos Yaku Waira’s passion truly shines, and it’s fantastic that he made your time here so special. From tubing to the night walk, and of course the cacao/chocolate experience, it sounds like you had an unforgettable journey. We’re grateful for your kind words and thrilled to have been part of such a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for you. Hope to welcome you back for more magical moments in the Amazon! 🌿🍫✨

Highly recommend- Carlos and Alex made this an unforgettable experience!

Elysa_M, Aug 2024
Carlos and Alex were the bomb!!! From start to finish it was a wonderful, easy and well supported time. The accomodations, while not fancy, were clean, comfortable, and had a simple charm. We had a surprise visit from a tiny bat that the staff carefully and quickly relocated to the jungle. The drive down and back up to Quito with Alex was beautiful with fun stops for food and adventure. Don't miss the caverns and hot springs if you have time! Definitely grab a cheese empanada, too! Carlos is super knowledgeable and we got to learn about the jungle plants, animals and insects from a master. We thoroughly enjoyed our travel companions and the shared eating experience. We would definitely recommend and look forward to a return trip! Thanks Suchipakari. Elysa, Delilah and Viggo!

Worth every penny :)

Wow, what can I say, this trip far exceeded my expectations. We were picked up from Quito in a veru comfortable car with our great driver Alex (we had the car all to ourselves, even though it was technically shared transport) and taken to Suchipakari, a little slice of paradise nestled deep into the jungle. We upgraded our room to one with a jungle view and weren’t disappointed, although the rooms with private jacuzzis also looked great. The three days were packed full of activities. The first day was literally just the two of us guests, Alex our driver and our lovely masseuse came along too! We had our own private guide Brayan who was extremely knowledgeable and was able to tell us about all the plants and creatures in the jungle. On the first day we had a pretty muddy jungle hike, river tubing and night hike. Finished off with some cocktails in the jacuzzi (sadly the swimming pool is out of action for the foreseeable). The second day included chocolate making, wildlife rescue centre, indigenous families, ceramic making and we added in some cocktails and massages also. It was a fantastic birthday and the staff did everything to help make it one to remember, in organising a birthday cake for me on the first night. All the staff on site were super friendly, our masseuses were fantastic (bamboo and hot stone!), our tour guide Brayan was very attentive and spoke great English with lots of enthusiasm. We got to meet the son of the owner of the place, Santiago who enlightened us on the history of the lodge and how the jungle has been changed in the last 30 years. Couldn’t have asked for better value for money in my opinion. I would definitely recommend!

Incredible trip, cannot recommend enough!

Melaina_L, May 2024
Carlos 1 was an INCREDIBLE guide! Everything on this trip was amazing from the personal pickup from Eric from our he scenic drive through the Andes (with as many bathroom breaks as I wanted) to walks tailored to our pace through the jungle we had an incredible time and came home with pottery hand made from the Kichwa people we visited. My personal favorite was the trip to Amazoonica, an animal sanctuary where we were joined by a troop of wild monkeys in the trees. I cannot recommend it enough!

This trip was great Amazon experience, well worth of the time spend there.

Nadiya_C, May 2024
The trip was extremely well organized, starting from picking up from Quito and arranging our way back to Quito. The lodge is very remote and located in real jungle, in the middle of the land where Quichua people still leaving in their traditional stile. The lodge is well maintained, the room was good and the food very satisfying. We spend three days with Brian, our gide, who is local person and gain his knowledge about nature, culture, and traditions just through his life here. We are happy with this choice of experience of Amazon!

We spent 3 days in the Amazon forest with the most amazing guide. Carlos took 4 of us tubing down a river, through the forest and some amazing walks teaching us about the plants and the night animals. Our driver was prompt and spoke good English, he was really informative on the way. We loved the food, plenty of it. Everything was very clean. The guides were very helpful, the pace perfect, all activities really interesting. We thought it was great value for money and really enjoyed our time there, in fact we stayed an extra night and just hung out by the pool and relaxed. We booked a driver to take us back to Quito, again he was very helpful and spoke English, we even stopped off at the Hot Pools for a few hours on the way.
