We had a lot of fun on this tour with our guide Kevin! Before the tour started, Kevin made sure to give us a safety briefing to let us know how to stay safe around the animals. Kevin led us down a trail giving us fun facts about any animals that we came across. We saw many different frogs, a few different bugs, and a snake.

The tour started near our hotel and the other guests were already there so I don’t think there was any pickup. The guide arrived on a motorcycle.
The overall experience was disappointing, we walked through the closed Butterfly cafe which we’d already visited earlier. Lengthy commentaries which you forget immediately. We came to see wildlife. Guide hardly set up his viewing stand and we spent a lot of time seeing the caged crocodiles rather than the night safari wildlife. Disappointing.

Based on your description — specifically mentioning the Butterfly Café and caged crocodiles — it seems this experience was with a different provider, as those locations are not part of our itinerary.
We always strive to deliver an authentic night safari experience centered on wildlife observation, with professional guides and proper equipment for spotting animals.

We didn't have time to see the park during the daytime so we took a night tour. Luckily we had other opportunities to see some daytime animals. We were able to see lobsters? Snake frogs lizards iguana spiders etc.... and the highlight was a random two toed sloth they spotted on the drive back on the roadside with its baby. Mosquitos were not a problem but it was incredibly humid so we were heavily sweating - short sleeves were fine.

Guide was brilliant and knowledgeable however was more interested in trying to find the ‘big and exciting’ wildlife that almost lost track of everything else. We spotted more than the guide!
The trail is one off the edge of a hotel so you pay an entry fee, means there’s not as much wildlife as the main park but still a great experience. We saw a snake, frogs and a few different insects.

Dylan was an incredible guide. He is smart and really cares about the animals and their environment. We saw everything we were hoping to see and more. Thanks to Dylan we also have amazing photos to keep. We saw spiders, frogs, butterflies, millipedes, a scorpion… and more. If we were staying another night, we would take this hike again! It was the best!

Prompt pickup with a shuttle, the guide was very knowledgeable and funny, he made us feel comfortable. Got tons of great pics of wildlife. I have anxiety so I was worried about getting bitten by a snake but as long as you stick to the trails, shine your flashlight everywhere as you walk, and wear some sturdy hiking boots and long pants you will be fine. We had a wonderful time.

Jon Paul was informative guide and helpful with finding many different kinds of frogs, snakes, geckos, spiders, scorpions on the night walk. We were with kids and they had a good time. He was safety conscious, well prepared, and respectful of the environment.

Quite expensive (add $10 for ‘entrance fee’ pp). Several groups traipsing around small area. Some animals were pointed out but there wasn’t a lot of information about them or storytelling, participants were not engaged. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed.

Great expérience to see the nightlife in the park. Some frogs. Small mammals and looots of spiders.

We booked this night jungle tour the same afternoon that we wanted to do it but it was canceled that evening due to rain. The tour operator gave us the option to postpone to the next day or request a refund, and we chose the former. Transportation was included, but we walked to the meeting point, in front of Hotel Playa Espadilla, as our hotel was nearby. There were 6 guests plus the guide, Juan. We were each provided a bottle of water and a flashlight. Juan showed us how to look for animals and expertly found animals in the dark. He fluently explained everything in both English and Spanish to the group. He described and gave additional information on all the wildlife we saw. While we didn't see any sloths, we were able to spot different kinds of spiders, frogs, lizards, insects, bats, birds, racoons, and snakes and take photos. The first part of the tour was a 20-minute walk in the adjacent gardens and the rest was a hike along a privately owned jungle path. The hike is pretty easy, but you have to be careful of rocks and tree roots. Although Juan brought a scope, it was not used very often as we could get up close to most of the things we saw. At the turnaround point, we all turned off our flashlights to experience just how dark the jungle is at night. Juan also used a blacklight to find things that fluoresce, but we didn't spot any. Long pants and closed toed shoes are a must, as part of the hike passes through areas with snakes, ants, and spiders. The tour took about 2 hours from start to finish.

Highly recommend this experience!! Luis was very knowledgeable and spotted lots of animals (lizards, snake, spiders, frogs, bats, birds, tarantula and scorpion)!!

I thought this was a tour that I did last year but it was not. I was pleasantly surprised though that it was a walk near Manuel Antonio Park. We tried to visit the park earlier that day but all tickets were sold out. So I was happy that my nephews still got a park experience with a professional guide, even though it was at night. The tour was very intriguing and fun!

Thanks to Harold! We saw a colourful 2 metre bright yellow and black snake and a vine-like snake, both arboreal; several different kinds of spiders, including many large tarantulas (from a distance-appreciated despite their being non venomous) and wolf spiders. Then there was the bizarre miniscule web spider that lines up the bodies of its prey along a single web thread. Couple kinds of frogs, one of which was a red eyed tree frog. Huge grasshoppers, tree scorpions that glow under uv (provided by our guide) and the only creepy bit-spider eyes reflecting our flashlights in the distance from a nest is a z a. Lots of them. Again, from a nice comfortable distance. Walking through the jungle at night was a surreal and magical experience. We always felt completely safe. Our excellent and highly educated/knowledgeable guide was fluent in English, important as our Spanish is rudimentary at best. Would do this again and recommend it to others.
