For the pick-up, tell us the hotel, private house or hostel. If you provide your own transportation, the meeting point will be the Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge. Once we get to meet each other each person has to purchase their own tickets, it costs $17 p.p it can be paid to Hacienda Baru cash or credit card.!

Freddy is a great guide and knows the property well. We saw five sloths, a stick bird, a couple of monkeys and several javelina. We learned a lot about the history of the area and enjoyed our tour.

Freddy is incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the Baru reserve. He knows about the ecosystem and each of the animals that inhabit it. It was well worth the cost for the private tour as we saw many more animals than the folks who did not book a tour!

We wanted to see quite difficult birds - antbirds, antshrikes, manakins. We met our guide Pedro to start walking at 6 a.m.. He was amazing in his abilities to hear birds and to mimic their calls. He was able to show us a good selection of our targets. Altogether a really well worthwhile experience.

Enthusiastic and Knowledgeable Guide!

This was one of the last days on our trip to Costa Rica, and still I feel like we learned and experienced so much on this private walk. Our guide had a depth of knowledge and experience with this specific nature preserve, which he explored even as a child. As such, we felt like we were in the best of hands for this guided tour. The highlight for sure was the 30-40 minutes we spent watching the monkeys "cross" overhead. We must have seen several dozens monkeys, in the right place at the right time (and yet, not an accident -- our guide listened and observed an knew what to expect). Our family was also enthralled with the leafcutter ants, and we learned so much about these remarkable creatures and their work. I appreciated our guide's enthusiasm and knowledge.

Freddie did an outstanding job as a guide he is amazing at finding wildlife He saw animals that were invisible to us so I would highly recommend if you go here hire Freddy as your guide he grew up on the reserve and knows the area

Excellent Hacienda Baru tour

The tour guide, Freddy, did an excellent job, explaining the flora and fauna, and spotting several animals. In a two hour hike we were able to see agouti, peccary, coati mundi, white face monkeys, and several birds, among others. Great tour and value, and we avoided the crowds in Manuel Antonio.
