We had a great guide who was very knowledgeable and made it fun overall. We saw sloths, boa constrictors, iguanas, Jesus Christ Lizards, and had capuchin monkeys hop on our shoulders. I highly recommend it.
Fun and quite laid back and chill.

The pictures are deceiving, as they show a BUNCH of monkeys on people and it is why we chose this tour. As soon as the tour began, our tour guide made an announcement saying we absolutely do not feed monkeys, because we don’t want to disrupt their natural habitat, so if they do decide to come into our boat that’s one thing, but we don’t attract them to us in any way. I was taken aback, as the monkeys were what I promised my 11 year old on his birthday, solely on the pictures I saw on viator. I told her my concerns, she said no way. So then I texted the person who I was chatting with through WhatsApp in charge of this posting and he said there is nowhere in the posting saying it’s a monkey experience. I told him that their pictures are deceiving and it’s a misrepresentation of what they offer. The conversation started to get heated and as soon as that started, we saw a bunch of monkeys on a different boat and they were feeding them, everyone there who wanted, would feed a monkey so they would come to them. In the end a couple of monkeys came into our boat and it happens to be that my birthday boy was the only one that the monkey went on and someone from another group took a video of it and sent it to me, so even though I was super disappointed, it ended up being just ok. My other son was disappointed that the monkeys didn’t come in him and frankly, my husband and I would have loved go experience it as well. If you’re looking for a monkey experience, look somewhere else. We saw a snake, some termites’ nests, some crabs, a falcon, and that’s about it. It obviously is up to nature what shows up at any given time. I just want to emphasize AGAIN that this is NOT a monkey experience and there’s a bunch of other tours who do feed them and get them on people and get a bunch of super cool pictures. This is NOT that. The tour guide was very nice and took photos of us whenever we wanted and sent those pictures to me right away.

I'm sorry for your bad experience. Unfortunately, our company does not feed wild animals, which is prohibited in Costa Rica. In any national park or biological reserve, you'll find signs that say "Do not feed the animals because it makes them sick." We are 100% committed to the environment and do not disturb their habitat. If you saw other companies feeding monkeys, that is completely illegal. As I mentioned before, they face fines and the closure of their businesses by the Costa Rican government. We do not practice that. We offer tours for observing animals in their natural habitat. If you see some people with photos of monkeys in this product, it's because the monkeys decided to jump off the boat on their own, because that was their decision, not because we fed them. That is the true meaning of our phrase "pura vida"... you, being Costa Rican, should know that better than anyone.
If you check the rest of our reviews on this blog, you'll see that people comment positively about this activity because they appreciate that we don't feed the animals...
If everyone's experience were like yours, we wouldn't have such good reviews...
Best regards

Great trip with knowledgeable guides. They were super nice and tailored the trip to our needs. Highly recommend

Mangrove tour itself was fine, but our guide got very drunk with one of the other passengers. The man who drove our boat was incredibly knowledgeable and pointed out some amazing animals, but unfortunately the overall experience was not relaxing given the main tour guides drinking activities. We learned more about the guides three ex wives than we did about the history of the mangroves and the animals within.

Hola estimada amiga !

Gonzalo was our guide, very knowledgeable about the area and was able to find so many animals that we missed. He answered all the questions I had, even though some were random. But the highlight of the experience was the monkeys!!! He knew them by name and could even tell us about their personalities. It was so cool to watch the entire family interact with each other and us. I would definitely recommend this tour. Just remember to wear something that you don’t mind getting a little muddy….but it’s worth it!

We LOVED this tour! We booked last minute and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of our trip. We saw monkeys, a caiman, crocs, a sloth, turtles, bats and more.

Tour was 30min late. No guide. Fortunately for us the guide who showed up was INCREDIBLE..Alex. If you can, ask for him. He mimicks so many birds and monkey sounds. He was incredible. My issue with the tour is that they tried to charge me more- during the tour. I had already purchased through Viator and spent $223. They claimed the never received payment even though it was charged on my Amex card. I felt almost harassed during the tour- which I spent emailing and texting Viator for receipt of payment instead of being able to enjoy the tour. They continued to insist after the tour that I needed to pay more. I stood firm and did not pay any more money. The owner of the company reached out to me threatening that if I left a poor review- I would only hurt Alex. Just bad business all around. We saw owls , birds, reptiles, turtles- no monkeys in our monkey tour. That was disappointing as well. Alex did try and try to call them to him. Again- had it not been for Alex who was knowledgeable enthusiastic and entertaining, I would have given this tour 1 star.

Hello dear friend!
I'm sorry about what happened!
The person who contacted you wasn't the owner of the company, he was a receptionist and has already been fired from his position for what he did. We don't do that kind of thing at our company, which is why we have good reviews, and 99.9% of our clients leave HAPPY. I'm very sorry about what happened. Well, it's a monkey tour, but that doesn't mean they're caged. The monkeys are in their natural habitat and tend to move around. They're not in one place. In that case, it would be a zoo. In Costa Rica, we don't have zoos. We're nature interpreters, and the animals appear 99% of the time!
I'm very sorry about your experience!

We loved this tour! There were so many animals to see and the host was fantastic. He made sure everyone on the boat had a great time and really integrated everyone into the experience by letting us feed the monkeys. 10/10.

We had an amazing time with our tour guide Nicho! We saw the cappuchin monkey troops up close, lizards, iguanas, two different boas sleeping on trees, bats, exotic birds whose names cannot remember, many different species of heliconias. Nicho was very knowledgable and shared interesting stories and facts about the flora and the fauna. Would highly recommend!!

Tour operator argued with me for 45 minutes that we had the wrong company. I showed them my tickets and confirmation of payment. After they finally spoke with someone at Viator, they said we could go on the tour. The tour itself was good, but they wasted a lot of precious vacation time.

Hola.

Hello dear friend!
I am very sorry to read your comment!
This generally does not happen frequently in our company, if it were like this we would not have good comments from people who have loved this tour and have given many good reviews!
I will immediately speak to the entire work team so that this DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN!
I am very sorry for what happened!!!
your comments help us to be better
