Pick a different tour operator!

Wanda_R, Dec 2025
Kevin, the guide, was friendly and knowledgeable and the location is lovely, but the tour is advertised as a two (plus) hour boat ride and all we got was 45 minutes on the water. The check in clerk assured me that the delayed arrival of some of the tour participants would not effect the length of our excursion, but, alas, after about 30 minutes on the water we were informed that we would be turning around because it was low tide. Hmmm, all the other boats (from other tour operators) managed to continue on further downriver. It was obvious the staff just wanted to go home at their usual time rather than make good on their commitment to the paying customers. My advice: pick a different tour operator!

Thank you so much for your comments. We need to inform you that this is a tourist area and we are currently in peak season. Customers are experiencing difficulties along the way due to heavy traffic and others. You will encounter various issues in Costa Rica by this period, from restaurants and tours to airports. This company is not exempt from this type of problem. We are surprised because we are not affected by the tides. There must be some misunderstanding. We think that your displeasure stems from having started a few minutes late. As you know, we also offer private tours where you won't encounter these kinds of problems. This would be a very good option for you. Thank you for your kind words about our guide and the place; and we would be delighted if you could visit us at another time of the year.

Interesting activity

Very nice place and friendly people. They gave a short walk around the territory and explained couple of plants growing there, super interesting! The guide at the boat ride explained the nature and wildlife. Highly recommend this tour.

The goal of the entire group at Nacarcosta is to be able to offer excellent service so that we can have you back. Thank you for visiting us and we hope to see you soon.

The best tour of our trip. Family is 6 with three kids ages 7, 5, and 3.

We have been in CR for 10 days and we have done a lot of tours. This was the favorite for most of our group. We had tickets for Manuel Antonio but chose to do this instead. We are very happy that we did. We have three adults and three kids (7, 5, and 3) and everyone was exhausted from a very busy 10 days. The idea of dealing with the parking scams and the huge crowds in Manuel Antonio was not appealing to us. We have done many animal tours and didn't think that MA would be much different from those. We chose this instead and we were closer to the animals than any other tour. We saw camans, capuchin monkeys all over the place, Jesus Christ Lizards running back and forth across the river, a mangrove boa constrictor, and other animals. This tour did not allow feeding of the capuchins while other tours on the river do. They let us know very clearly that this not allowed and not ethical. The tour also included interactions with Palm Oil harvesting and a water buffalo which was very cool and unexpected. The lunch at the end was really tasty.

t is a pleasure to hear such good comments. We are very pleased that you understand that we cannot feed wildlife. It is prohibited by the Republic of Costa Rica and wild animals are sick because of this practice. We hope to see you soon in Costa Rica. Thank you very much for understanding our principles.

Nice experience!

This was a great tour and our guide was so knowledgeable! He showed us so much before even going on the boat and then we saw a ton of animals on the boat. It was a great experience! Nice and relaxing!
