First, let me start by saying, our driver Keri made the tour one of the best we have taken. She was personable, helpful and when an issue went sideways at our first stop, she handled it with grace & humour. Her recommendations on what to do and see were spot on.
This the second hop on hop off wine experience and it did not disappoint! Do it, you will not regret it.

Nice afternoon out at some beautiful places. Did the half day tour and squeezed in 4 stops. The bus was very efficient and came every 50 minutes so it felt a bit rushed but waiting for the one after felt a bit too long. Could do with having a full hour at each place so you could relax a little bit and maybe have a glass of your fav wine after the tasting session.
But otherwise lovely. Thanks to Sam our driver.

We did the half day tour & would recommend!
Loved:
- Both drivers (Kerry & George)
- Mt Rosa (1 - small great vibe), Nockies Palette (2 - beautiful views & scenery), the Winery in Arrowtown (3 - so fun to dispense the wine ourselves and I think a really fun way to start), Gibson Valley (4 - could take or leave but I think it’d be better if we did a formal tour with them)
- we fit in 4 stops! Felt like we made good use of our time. Tour ended approx 5-5:15pm.
- drivers offered to call and make bookings for tasting when we got on the bus
- bus very comfy, not super windy or bumpy
Of Note:
- you get a timetable & map immediately upon getting on the bus. You need to be a bit flexible with the wineries you go to since you don’t have access to it beforehand. There must be some reason they don’t give it out but 🤷🏼♀️
- the stops are approximately 50mins so it’s fast!! You would definitely need to spend two spots for lunch in order to have enough time to get your food & eat it. Since we were the halfway, we ate beforehand and had plenty of time to get a cheeseboard, bread, fries, etc during one stop
Overall really fun & would do again!

Had such a good day on this tour. The bus was easy to find, the driver was friendly and the whole vibe was relaxed. We got to hop on and off without any rush, and each winery had its own charm. Great views, great wine, great energy. Perfect way to spend an afternoon in Queenstown.

Great way to go winetasting from Queenstown. George was our driver and ne was absolutely incredible. Very knowledgeable and made sure everybody got to where they needed to be at the right time.

We had an incredible experience with the Queenstown HOHO bus! We’ve done a few of these experiences in Aus and now NZ, what a blast. Such a great way to see so many wineries covering the region in Otago (without the worry of having to drive or rely on lifts!).
Our driver was amazing, friendly & very great at communicating the schedule. We even got a personalised service drop off in Arrowtown (where we were staying) given it was a quieter day. thank you so much to the Hoho team! We will be recommending to all travelling to Queenstown!

It's a really fun wine tour! You can pick from 23 different stops and you can go to a maximum of 6 of them if you hop back on the bus every time it comes back. The only restriction is you can't go backwards on the list, but there are two stops that repeat. Most places have snacks and a few of the stops are taverns with full menus.
My top 3 spots were:
Mt Rosa: Had the best wine in several styles. The staff was really friendly and fun to chat with while walking through all of their wines.
Nockies Palette: Easily the best scenery of the wineries. It's run by a painter and the whole place is laid out in a storybook/fairy tale style. Their wines are good too with the standout being an amazing Chardonnay.
The Winery Arrowtown: Not actually a winery, it's a big tasting room with a bunch of automated wine dispensers so you can try a lot of things in small samples or get full glasses of the ones you like. You could almost do a wine tour with just this place.

You definitely should get the full day tour. Some wineries are a good way out of town. The driver, George, was outstanding, on time and entertaining.

A fantastic way to see Arrow Town, Ayrburn and as many wineries, gin bars, breweries at your own pace. You can spend the min time at a destination or wait , have lunch and some drinks and get picked up on the second time slot and carry on until 5.30 when you are dropped back to the meeting place . Peter our driver was on time every time and was a great source of information. I would 100% recommend this trip. Best day!

This was a fantastic tour! Without it, I think I would have missed a lot while in South Island. George our driver was great company, the beauty of this region is beyond explanation. I stopped in Arrowtown, The Church and Airfield, I wanted to stop in Frankton thinking it was a different town but it was just Queenstown again. So I passed. It was the most unforgettable birthday ever. A lovely farmer allowed me to see his sheeps and cows in one of the stops. My conversation and the animals were an experience I won't forget.

Overall, this is a nice way to get around to the wineries, and also stop at Arrowtown and the Bungy Jump to watch the jumpers.
Be aware that the bus only goes ONE WAY. It's not like many Hop On/Hop Off buses that have several buses running at one time and you can get off and on for just a few minutes even.
Each stop is about an hour, which is a good length of time for most wine tastings. It does mean that you'll likely only do 4 or 5 stops in a day, and don't miss stopping at the ones you want as you get to them. You won't be back.
Our driver George was awesome and was basically our personal chauffer for the 5 of us on the bus. We had a tire blow out on the highway and he handled it expertly. Luckily we were near Gibbston Tavern, so 3 of us walked there for a beer!

Booked a full day beginning at 10:30 am. Bus was on time! Nice way to see the wine region without having to worry about drinking and driving. The only downside is that you have to keep a close eye on the time so you don’t miss the bus pickup.
We were able to fit in Arrowtown and five wineries but it felt very rushed. We bought a sandwich in Arrowtown and ate it later in the day.

What a great day! The schedule is easy to understand, the drivers were polite and informative and I loved the stops I chose. Highly recommend for seeing a lot around the Queenstown area, and not having to drive. Arrowtown, Ayburn, Amisfield and Kinross were all lovely to visit, eat and drink wine.

Hi there, all drivers are on GPS devices and are tracked at all times, meaning we cannot speed. We try to give our customers recommendations but ultimately the final decision is up to you along with the booking for these places if in larger groups to save time.

The hop on hop off wine bus was the best way to experience New Zealand’s beautiful wine country, without the hassle of a potential DUI! We did a little bit of research beforehand and went to Amisfield (best wine), Gibbston Valley Winery and Brennans (beautiful orange wine!). The stop in Arrowtown for an explore was also a great way to ease into a day of wine drinking.
Hot tip: we saw a newly opened winery across from Brennans called Waitiri Creek and what a surprise it was! It wasn’t on the list, but had the best views of the whole day and brilliant staff. The Chardonnay and Pinot noir is the pick of the bunch. If you’re on the tour, don’t skip this one just because it’s not on the map.

A great way to see a few wineries in the one day without having to have a sober driver in your group. The bus drivers are all absolute legends and the experience itself was fun! I would recommend using the timetable & picking your places in advance as there are some limits as mentioned in the description.

This is a great way to see the region, sample wine and nice food. The route offers a great range of winerys, taverns and options for food. George was our driver for most of the stops. He was informative, friendly and most of all he enjoyed showing us around. George made our day enjoyable.
