Enjoy a fantastic day out amongst some of Queensland’s best scenery on Great Keppel Island. Depart Keppel Bay Marina on a short ferry ride and then have the day to explore the island. Either head out and explore the many walking trails and reefs, or else just camp out on the beach and relax. Lunch at a local bistro, featuring gorgeous views, is included.

Keppel Island was amazing. Beautiful clear oceans excellent for snorkeling. Nice hiking trails. I felt the service providers didn’t provide enough guidance, like maps or things to do, we just had to figure it out ourselves and could have ended up in trouble easily. Do your homework before heading there.

Hideaway bar and bistro on great Keppel Island is very run down, and unkept, I would not recommend this trip to anyone, as its totally over priced for $80 a head all you get is lunch and 1 drink, toilets were very run down.

Great Keppel Island is so beautiful - plenty of walking trails to various beaches.

I went over to see what the old resort had been to reduced to as I holidayed there in 1984 as a 19 year old, it's a shame it was left in such a state. On a lighter note we went for a walk over to Long Beach and the through the bush to Monkey beach which was a great experience and then onto the Hideout for a great lunch, staff were very friendly but the seagulls aren't. We also checked out the accommodation and are thinking of spending a week over here sometime in the future, we totally enjoyed the day. Also a big shout out to the boat crew who made our trip over there and back an all round great day. ( Only bad point are the bloody seagulls 😂.)

It was an easy trip over & back with a friendly crew.
The food was disappointing. Breakfast was cold & lunchtime fish was overcooked.

Lovely day cruising over to Great Keppel Island for the day Great value and lunch including a drink was very tasty. Crew on boat friendly and everything went very smoothly. Only downside to day was slightly dated facilities on the island itself but beaches and water are beautiful.

The weather was very rough the day we went to Great Keppel, so not the best experience. It didn’t take long to look around the island, as there is not much over there to do. We did however, have a delicious lunch at the resort.

Great Keppel has over 1400 hectares to explore with 17 beautiful beaches; some of wish you can snorkel of on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Keppel Dive and Snorkel have SUP Hire, Kayak Hire, Snorkel and Diving tours as well as a water taxi service dropping guests at smaller surrounding island. Great Keppel is a back-to-basics true island experience with plenty to do for those who love the outdoors. Kind regards, Rachel.

Very good value for money with lunch included, GKI is a beautiful island but unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side so a full day there seemed a bit too long, make sure you pick comfortable shoes because if you want to go to any of the more secluded beaches like monkey beach and long beach it’s a BIG trek and the paths are quite dangerous.
The crew on Keppel Konnections were great and really friendly and the lunch was very nice. On a sunny day without rain you will have a much better experience but I also feel like there should be an option for being able to take an earlier boat ride back but overall we had a lovely day :)

Hi Athena, thank you for leaving us a 4-star review! The walking tracks are public council land so unfortunately not been maintained as we are not a National Park. However, the team at the Reception next to the Hideaway Bar and Bistro have local knowledge of which are the best tracks and which to avoid. Viator automatically books guests on the 4:00pm return but guests can ask the Keppel Konnections team about changing their return time to any earlier ferries and are happy to oblige. Easy to book and great value - was worried that the place would be busy but it was not. We hired snorkel gear and a gorgeous beach. Lunch was good but a long wait so take that into consideration. Glad we did it

Checking in at the green shed the lady was lovely and helpful. Staff on the boat were friendly. Service on Keppel was great. Food was awesome. Definitely would go again.
