When to visit

The Coral Coast is a popular destination for tourists, and the prices (and crowds) tend to grow in the high season from June to September. This time of year is also when the island hosts the Hibiscus Festival and Bula Festival, both serving as an introduction to Fijian culture. If you don’t mind a bit of rain and are looking for a quieter visit, opt for the low season from November to April.

Getting around

You will find affordable taxis in Suva, as well as public buses that run between the Coral Coast's larger towns. If you would rather not try to navigate public transport, you can rent a car to travel around the region independently or check with your accommodation to see if they provide transportation; many resorts offer shuttle services for their guests.

Traveler tips

A 10-minute drive from Sigatoka, Nakabuta Village is the ideal spot to browse and purchase local art. Using techniques used by the Lapita culture and maintained for more than 3,000 years, the artisans here craft pottery characterized by geometric designs and a rich glaze produced from tree resin. At the village, you can watch pottery demonstrations and pick out souvenirs to remind you of your trip.
