Rod was funny, engaging, and a great teacher. He made the experience so much fun. It was much better than any of the excursions from the cruise ship. FYI - keep in mind that local time is one earlier than cruise ship time so plan ahead on the timing.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We found the facilitator, Rod, to be passionate, informative, and helpful throughout the entire day! We enjoyed the cultural and historical elements of the class. Also, the tasty chocolate was the cherry on top! Definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting PVR!

Chocolate lover's dream!

There's only so much time I can spend at beachside or poolside during a two-week stay in Puerto Vallarta, so we book activities and excursions. A class at the Chocomuseo has been on our repeat list for several years already! Wander through the free museum and learn a bit about that item the Aztecs called "the food of the gods." Sign up to make chocolates, and/or truffles, which you will get to take with you. A newer addition is a mole class, that rich smoky sauce with a bit of unsweetened chocolate. We've never been disappointed by the instructors nor the delectable treats!

Amazing class

Almost three ours of very entertaining class on how to make chocolate. Be prepared to sit for long stretches on stools. You will be involved in making ganache and chocolate truffles. You take away what you make, unless you eat it first.

Great experience

What a great experience! We got a taxi driver (never take a taxi, they're corrupt, always take an Uber!) Driver drove us to wards downtown, stopped, and told us the meeting location was "just around the corner. " he was lying! We walked and walked, and our experience was supposed to start. They called us to be sure we were coming- we told them we were lost, but couldn't find street signs to let them know where we were. They called us about 5 minutes later to check in, and were very concerned. They said they would wait for us. The next call from them, i had to tell them we weren't going to make it. They said we could try again the next day, but we were on a cruise, and couldn't do that. They offered a different chocolate experience layer in the afternoon and we were so relieved and appreciative of their help. We finally found it, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!! Was so much fun, and something so different to try. We loved it, and appreciated how kind they were to us! Highly recommend!!!

Was a Great Experience! Zoar was a Great and Patient teacher! Learned lots learned about tempering chocolate. Reallly enjoyed ourselves and well worth the money. Don’t hesitate, coming from a bunch of Hosers from Pumphandle Alberta, we give it 5/5!

This was spectacular! We learned about how cocoa beans are harvested before grinding and combining the powder with cream to create dark chocolate. Then we learned about ten flavorfully powders like cinnamon to improve the chocolate taste. Then there was about ten different liqueurs like amaretto that could be added in a very amount. We ended up making truffles that were amazing. The guide, Rocky, made the experience memorable and enjoyable.

Chocolate lovers dream

This was a chocolate making class, not watching someone make it, and soo much fun. Rod was a great teacher. Started with a gnache. There were so many flavors to choose from it was hard to decide. We then made bon bons while we waited for the truffle shells to harden. You get to take home everything you make so we left with almost two dozen truffles and bon bons. The museum itself is cute too with lots of chocolate themed items. We'll definitely go back to try different flavors.

This was so fun and so educational (not to mention delicious). Rodrigo was our instructor. He was fun, funny and knowledgeable. We laughed the entire time and made some delicious chocolates. I will never again complain about the cost of truffles and gourmet chocolates again after seeing what it took to make ours. :). Highly recommend this activity.

Viator was SO UNHELPFUL

FIVE STARS FOR ROD! Amazing teacher, fun class, and would definitely recommend him. If I could, I would’ve given zero stars for the beginning of this experience. I booked a tour for four, but one of my party was having medical issues and wanted to cancel so she could rest. Unfortunately, we were 45mins past the 24hr deadline. I contacted viator and they said they had to honor the deadline but to ask the operator. I ask this place and they tell me they can’t cancel and to ask viator. Since they both said no, I decided not to cancel. The party member with the issues said she would do her best and push through. We arrive on time and during check in, the guy says we had canceled. I explain everything to him and he even pulls up the email I sent and the response saying they can’t cancel it. He brushes me off as if it’s my fault. I ask to speak to his boss and he says he doesn’t have one. I argue with him for about 15 minutes and he tells me they booked too many people for the tour based on my request to cancel which they denied. So we are at 9 people and the class only fits 8. I tell him, give me a refund, let us in the class (there was a small child and so we could’ve just squeezed), or I’ll call the cops to get me my money. I only threatened the cops because he was being rude even after he admitted it was their fault. He magically manifests a boss at this point on the phone. He offered to reschedule but we had yours booked the rest of our stay and weren’t coming back to the area. Viator was just as unhelpful by the way. By this time, it’s 30mins past the time we are supposed to start and this guy is holding up the rest of the participants experience. Only when THEY say they’re willing to squeeze does he agree to let us join the experience. But we end up having to start an hour late so they can set up for all 9 people. Such an annoying experience in the beginning, only for the actual class to be led by someone who was nice the entire time (Rod). Can’t say I’ll recommend them or booking through viator but my chocolate was delicious lol

We are sorry there was a confusion with this booking. We asked you to ask Viator for a cancellation because we cannot cancel it from our part, only Viator can do it. Our understanding was that you were not going to come to the workshop. When this happens, we usually receive a message afterwards from Viator with the refund request. We are glad that you enjoyed the workshop, the chocolate and the instructor after all.

Wonderful Experience!

Rod was the best instructor! My family really enjoyed this experience. He took his time and explained to us the history of chocolate and its relationship to Mexico! We had so much chocolate! We prepared chocolate, molded chocolate, tempered chocolate, and best of all tasted so much chocolate and had plenty to take with us! This was one of the best experiences we had hands down. Thank you Rod and see you next year!

I usually can’t be bothered to write a review, but this was AMAZING. The teacher of the class, Rod, made this a wonderful experience for me and my son. Not only was it a fun way to spend an afternoon, but the chocolates we made are seriously delicious. They will make great souvenirs to bring home (if we don’t eat them first).. I would recommend this to anyone.

Choco FUN

This was a valentines gift for my husband and it was a Hit!. I highly recommend this class. The chocolatier has such a joy of teaching others his craft, he is very engaging and knowledgeable. He gave everyone attention as if you were the only one in the class. I did not know that we would be able to take home all the chocolates that we made. I will take the class again when I go back to Puerto Vallarta.

A Fun Chocolate Making Workshop!

We had an unforgettable time making (and, of course, eating) chocolate. The experience was wonderfully hands-on, ensuring we were covered in chocolate from start to finish. Rod, our instructor, was super nice and patient, guiding us through our chocolatey mess. It was a fantastic activity that everyone enjoyed. A special mention for their store’s chocolate and passion fruit infused tequila – it’s an absolute must-try and simply delicious!
