Our guide was terrific! The food market tour was really great, buying food for a picnic and then bike ride briefly in city before Versailles ground was easy. See grounds on a bike very relaxing and having access to the palace and other areas on grounds was excellent.

At the end of the bike tour, you'll be able to visit the Palace of Versailles for as long as you want! The guide will give you train tickets and a map of Versailles town for the 15-minute walk back to the train station. The trains from Versailles to Paris run every 20 to 30 minutes.

Itinerary

Make your way to the meeting point at Paris’ Gare Saint-Lazare train station to meet your guide, then take the train from Paris to Versailles, the quickest way to reach the Palace of Versailles.

On arrival, stop by the Farmers Market in Versailles to pick up some food for your picnic lunch (own expense), then set out on a scenic bike ride around the Versailles Palace Gardens. Along the way, visit Marie-Antoinette's Hamlet and the Petit and Grand Trianons (admission tickets included), enjoy your picnic lunch overlooking the Grand Canal, and cycle through the picturesque Royal Forests.

Finally, enjoy timed-entrance admission to Versailles Palace and spend as long as you like exploring, including King Louis XIV’s apartment and the Hall of Mirrors.

After the tour, your guide will direct you back to the Versailles train station, where you can catch one of the regular trains back to Paris (tickets included).

We loved our tour with Guillene (sp?). He was so personable and knowledgeable. He was welcoming and inclusive of everyone on our group. I was traveling with a friend and my 10yr old daughter and we all had a fabulous time. The Versailles gardens are huge and beautiful and we never would have seen as much on our own or learned as much. The trip to the market to get food for a picnic was also absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this tour. Plan for a full busy day! My 10yr old fell asleep on the train ride back to Paris.

This was one of the highlights of our first trip to Paris. Our 14 & 17 year old loved the bike tour. Our guide, Giu Giu, was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the trip fun & insightful. The meet up in Paris for the train to Versailles was easy. Shopping for our lunch at the farmer’s market was fun and the picnic lunch by the water looking at the Versailles Palace across the pond is an experience we’ll remember.

Excellent event. I had been to the Palace before but had not had this extensive tour of the grounds. Our guide, Arnold, provided an excellent entertaining historical perspective that greatly enhanced our trip. My whole family agreed that this was a highlight of our Paris vacation.

Our guide, Arnaud was the highlight of this day. We did this tour in the off season and ended up with a very cold damp day. My kids still enjoyed it and said the learning about the history was their favorite part! I would highly recommend this tour for kids and teens.

Versailles is huge and riding a bicycle from the Palace to the gardens to the Trianon to the Petit Trianon was the way to go! My teenage sons and husband and I got a great lesson in French history from our guide who gave us some fun and spicy insights into the Palace and royals who lived there.

Palace of Versalles Bike tour

We booked a day trip to the palace of Versailles by bike along with a picnic. We started in Paris, 12 total took the train to Versailles from Versailles picked up bikes, then stopped at the farmers market for picnic supplies. Biked all around the walkways and pathways of Versailles, had a picnic and then ended at the palace of Versailles, where our host left us to visit the palace on our own so that we could stay as long as we wanted. After visiting the palace, we walked to the train station where we took the train back to Paris. The morning started around 8:30 AM and we arrived back in Paris around 6 PM so a full day. Tour guide name was Arnaud. Excellent guide very funny and informative and gave us just enough information, but not too much, thank you for a great day. We were there in early November so we had a little rain here and there, but the bikes came equipped with ponchos so we were OK.

A must tour tour when in Paris

Love love love ! Second time I did it and still my favorite tour. Here are a few reasons why - easy to navigate the train to Versailles with the guides, I really enjoyed the new added tastings in the market and the extra free time to explore to purchase picnic items for lunch, out the bikes I’d never see as much of the outside of Versailles, our guide Guigui was fun and entertaining which made the whole day light easy peasy and fun! The best part is that you’re left at the entrance of the palace so you can spend as much time inside or as little as desired. Overall a great blend of guided tour + free time! A must do when in Paris and a tour I always recommend to my friends!

Unique and fun; a wonderful day trip. We had an amazing time even on a cloudy day with light rain. Our guide Lena was really fantastic! Her energy was great and her knowledge of the area helped us focus and prioritize the most compelling parts of the tour. She clearly has great relationships with the market vendors, and also helped us navigate a train problem that we couldn't have done on our own. Oh, and she guided us away from known scammers. The bikes were great, comfortable single speeds with fully covered chains. And they provided bicycling rain ponchos and saddlebags. Without the tour, we would've gotten lost on the train trip there, had no bikes or probably crappy bikes, missed the market completely (or paid 15 euros for a small bag of fruit), and spent too much time looking at the less interesting things. Antoine was a very informative guide and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a rainy day, but it was still a really fun day. Our guide had to be flexible because when we arrived at the train station, it turned out it wasn’t running that day- but we pivoted and he got us there! It was fun to shop for our lunch before getting on our bikes to head out. It was a long day, so we were all tired by the time we got to the last gardens- so I recommend not making any plans for after the tour. I had to cut my time in the gardens short to try and get back for another tour in Paris. The guide does not go into the various palaces and at times, it would have been nice to have him in there- but I’m sure it says that somewhere in the description and I didn’t read it.

If you are older and not used to exercise (riding a two wheeled Standard bike and walking around at least 10k steps) you might consider a different tour (Nite: Versailles rents golf carts). If you can walk several flights of stairs and ride a two wheeled standard bike, then this is the tour for you!! We had an amazing time. It’s an all day event; don’t plan on heading back until after 6pm. We went too all the places Versailles while walking, eating/drinking, and of course bike riding. So much fun and we learned a few thing along yhe way! Guillaume or Gugu was so much fun. Would definitely do again. One of our favorite outings.

This was such a great way to see Versailles. As a solo traveler, it was nice to be in a small group of 10-11 ppl. The tour was on time and largely stuck to the schedule. There was more than enough time at most stops and we really got to do a lot of different things. From walking around the market to biking around the grounds and having a picnic along the water, it truly was a great day. A great time and I’d say well worth the money! Also, our tour guide Theo was awesome, fun, and engaging!

The Complete Versailles Experience!

This tour provides for a full experience of massive Versailles both outdoors (gardens and hamlet and other spaces) and the ability to self guide the Chateau. Our guide Michael was great and knowledgeably led us with confidence, flexibility and a fun attitude. I recommend this tour with the wish that the bikes used were lighter and 3 speed in character.

We had a great time in Versailles. Michael was very knowledgeable and had fun stories about the palace’s history. The bikes are very comfortable and the ride is long but with plenty of stops along the way. The marché Michael took us to buy food for the picnic is wonderful. We highly recommend this tour. Our kids 17 and 14 also enjoyed it very much.

What an enjoyable day! Aaron, our tour guide, lead us through the Versailles palace grounds/parks on bikes. He had a good number of stops, with interesting commentary about the history. The ride through the trees and around the water was very tranquil and nice to get out of the hectic crowds at the palace. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the palace.
