Excellent guide. Originally from Argentina, she's been living in France for 20+ years and her enthusiasm for the area was on full display. She was super informative, didn't rush the tour, gave ample time for photos and answered every question. Really patient too, as part of our group could't find the meeting point and she walked them through where to meet us on the phone.
Montmarte is definitely worth visiting. Very different vibe than Paris.

This is a lively and informative tour, given by an expert guide named Camila. She is so knowledgeable about this town. We had such a good time. Prepare to walk mostly uphill but absolutely worth it.

Not much. Tour “started” at 10:30. We arrived at 10:15. By 10:50 the guide had not shown up. Viator office tried to call their office but it was closed. Viator had no other options. We found a free tour on our own where the guide depended on tips. It was quite good. I’m expecting a full refund from Viator.

I was very excited to see off the beaten path places and stories of Montmartre, like where the artists hung out, ate, drank and collaborated, and learn some less known info on the area, but this is not that tour. Beyond a quick stop at the studio where the Impressionists studied shortly (which we’d already seen in another tour… so clearly not off the beaten path), there wasn’t really any exciting info offered in this tour. We had a long stop at the Moulin Rouge… again, not off the beaten path, and the tour guide was nice enough to get us a good croissant at a local boulangerie, but this tour was nothing special. We told our her we were pressed for time because we had another tour scheduled for an hour after this tour was supposed to end. In spite of that, we spent 15 mins discussing where everyone was from and what they do and don’t like about Paris. We also waited while our tour guide answered calls and texts and took some photos for some random teenagers on the street who asked her to take their pic. We ended up missing the end of the tour because so much time was wasted on these other things. I would not recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful, fun and informative tour with Camilla. She was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of insight and inside information to make our entire trip to Paris even better. She made the hills doable for us. I liked that there were only 8 of us on the tour. Great experience and a must see neighborhood

Max was a wonderful tour guide! He lived in the neighborhood for several years and is an artist himself. He’s clearly passionate about art and the amazing history of the neighborhood, and he did an amazing job bringing everything to life during our tour. Read some about artist in Montmatre so you understand the magnitude of what you are seeing. It will be a better one if guide has a microphone. Her English is great but the streets are busy and loud at times.

Easy walking, the route climbs, but slowly traverses the big hill. Our guide, Cecilia, knows art history, which is perfect for this tour, because of the famous artists who lived and painted here. We avoided the crowds to arrive at Sacre Cours using a backstreet. Allow time after this tour to wander downhill along the Rues des Martyrs. This is authentic Paris, enjoy it.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're grateful you chose our tour and enjoyed Cecilia's expertise in art history. Taking the less-traveled path and avoiding the crowds is one of our favorite ways to showcase Paris’ rich heritage. We're glad the tour inspired you to further explore the vibrant Rues des Martyrs. Hoping to welcome you again soon for another immersive journey.

tina_m, Feb 2026
Was not easy to locate the guide at the meeting point. No flag or sign visible so the group was together but didn’t see her. No Vox box so couldn’t hear her talking while walking she really just talked to one person walking next to her the whole time. She was pleasant enough, but didn’t get much out of the tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Tina, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're really glad you joined the tour and found our guide pleasant. We're sorry to hear you had a difficult time locating the meeting point for your tour. We always provide meeting point details and emergency contact information in advance, and our leaders always wait as long as possible. Regarding the microphone issues, we understand how frustrating that must have been, and we appreciate you pointing it out. We've taken steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We hope to see you on another tour soon.

Max is the perfect guide. There is a lot of walking and some steep inclines, but it's well worth it.
Patricia_B, Dec 2025
This was an amazing tour. Although we lived in Paris many years ago and visit often quite our guide led us through many parts of Montmartre we had never discovered before. We also loved hearing about the lives of the artists who lived and painted in the Montmartre. This tour is a must. It goes beyond the usual "tourist" route and offers some of the best vistas in Paris.
Annika_M, Nov 2025
The tour was super interesting and our guide Max did an amazing job. Strongly recommended for everyone who is interested in Paris besides Eiffel Tour and Louvre.
Jill_D, Nov 2025
Very educational about the area & beautiful walk. Cecilia was a great guide. She even got us all croissants from an award winning boulangarie.
Megan_S, Nov 2025
Max was an exceptional tour guide. He knew so much about the area, told us great information about the history, the art, the people, the buildings - it was incredible. He kept a great pace, such that my 7yo daughter was fully engaged and my 83yo mother could keep up. He’s charming, speaks many languages, and has a delightful demeanor. I can’t recommend him highly enough!
Aurora_B, Nov 2025
Max was amazing! Thank you for the tour. Very knowledgeable about the area and the art. Really beautiful!
Merci!!
Robin_A, Nov 2025
Max, our tour guide, was terrific. He knew the area well, guided us through the region with stories and history. I'd recommend this tour high on the hill. Even though the weather was foggy, it was still worth the trip.
Catriona_B, Oct 2025
Wonderful walking tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable, funny and gave us great advice about what else to see in the area. I would thoroughly recommend taking this tour. You will learn about the history and artists who lived previously in the area as well as new street art. A lovely gentle meander up to the top of Monmartre. Do it!
Susan_I, Oct 2025
You get an amazing and expansive history of the area as it relates to Paris which I found fascinating. The enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide was wonderful. I really enjoyed myself!
Laura_M, Oct 2025
Cecelia was a wonderful tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about the history of Montmartre and the artists who lived there. I would highly recommend.
SWEELIN_L, Oct 2025
Had a wonderful walking tour with Max. He somehow managed to pick routes that avoided 90% of the crowds in the afternoon. He was really knowledgeable about the area as a former resident. Magically, he brought us up to the cathedral just as the sun was setting and through a back garden with very few tourists. This was so much more than a walking tour - he focused a lot on the art and the artists, along with their techniques and how the art landscape was changing over the decades.
