I had Catia as a host. She is a wonderful and inspiring woman. I was lucky that the course took place despite being alone. Thus, it was very individual and tailored entirely to me. It is important to note that there is no market on Sundays. In place of that, Catia gave me a small city tour. The cooking class then took place at her home. Everything was very personal and well organized. Catia is a really good cook and can explain everything well. You get involved a lot and learn a lot. The food was very delicious. I will definitely come back. Catia is highly recommended without reservation.

    Very disappointing experience.

    Alan_E, Sep 2025
Coordination to and from this event was terrible. Meet up point was misidentified which left us standing for 25 minutes. It was very difficult to contact host. Then “five minute walk to host home” turned out to be 40 minutes. We told host we were really fatigued after full day of walking and he intimated his home was nearby. Host said we were going to market first but with delayed meetup the market was closing. Host spoke little to no English. We communicated only through translation phone app which was not good. When we finally arrived at his apartment we were reluctant to enter because it looked sketchy. Apartment was surprisingly nice but the Kitchen was small enough to hold only 3 of our 6 attendees. Apartment was very warm! Host invited brother and mother to dinner who also spoke very little English creating uncomfortable silences. The meal prep took a really long time and only included one dish (homemade pasta) with sauce host had premade. We also made dessert. Host had prepped a couple appetizers in advance. Host, David, was kind and had a lovely space to dine. After dinner we had trouble getting taxi to return us to hotel which ended up taking 30 minutes because of remote location. Bottom line, one of our all-time worst Viator experiences.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Alan, thank you for your feedback. It is always important to listen to our customers. We are very sorry to read these lines since we always try to do our best in order to provide the greatest experience possible for our guests. Please note that all our experiences are held in private homes, so for privacy reasons, we can't disclose the address before booking. The address shown on the VIATOR platform is a generic one. I genuinely regret any frustration this may have caused, but his important information is clearly stated also in the Viator's Voucher that each client receives after placing the reservation. We are happy you appreciated your time with David and we will take into account your feedback about his usage of English. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts,

    The host was 25 minutes...

The host was 25 minutes late and we had to walk 45 minutes to his apartment. We missed the market because the meetup time was so late. Our host did not speak much English and had to keep talking into the phone and letting the phone translate. And we could not talk with him. The kitchen was so small, only half of our six person party could cook. The rest sat in the dining room the whole time. The appetizers were delicious. The dinner was very disappointing, just spaghetti with olives and anchovies with tomatoes, not even fresh Parmesan on the spaghetti. The tiramisu was delicious. Our host was kind. We’ve done cooking classes in many Italian cities and they have been so much fun in beautiful places with unforgettable food. This experience was unforgettable for the wrong reasons.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Tammy, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re really sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations and that the logistics and space made it frustrating. We’re glad you enjoyed the appetizers, tiramisu, and found our host kind. Your comments are very helpful, and we’ll take them into account to improve the experience for future guests. Best regards,

    Cooking Experience with Catia

    Amanda_S, Jun 2025
It was my first time to Padua, and I was looking for an authentic experience where I could learn about the city and the cuisine that makes it special. I was so lucky to have found this tour with Catia, who went out of her way to provide a wonderful experience that I will cherish forever! She was so hospitable, from a detailed tour of Padua that included all the best attractions, to opening up her home to me where I learned how to make Bigoli and Tiramasu. She showed me the proper techniques of making and kneading dough, and taught me how to make and serve a plate of appetizers that was made using the freshest flavors of the Summer. Her home, her family, her garden, and knowledge of cooking and the city’s history - is truly a gift every visitor of Padua should experience.

    Highly recommended

Sharing the shopping experience and the language and his very specific techniques in cooking the meal; totally different than what is shown on TV; more than excellent.

Our chef was wonderful and very gracious. The experience with the company’s communication was not. I had push messages with two different addresses and time right until the day of the event. It was clear that my cook had changed however the confusing messages came after that.

    Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Tamara, Thank you for your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with the chef and found her gracious. We sincerely apologize for the confusion with the messages and any frustration caused by the changing addresses and times. We are continually working to improve our communication process to ensure that guests receive clear and consistent information leading up to their experience. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us make future experiences smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. Best regards,

We had a very enjoyable 5 hours with Catia. We met at the market at Piazza Erbe. She took us through the outside produce market and indoor meat and cheese market. All the while she gave a historical summary of the many buildings around Piazza Erbe. When we arrived at her house we were put to work making tiramisu, cicchetti and bigoli pasta our thirst quenched by some very good local Cabernet Franc. We highly recommend the tour with Catia

A wonderful day of cooking with a new friend!

    Sara_D, Jun 2023
My cooking experience with Catia was the highlight of my time in Padua. She was so generous and passionate about sharing her love of cooking, drawing on her family history as well as her own. This was not the cooking class I expected, rather, it was a special day with a friend who had invited me to her home and kitchen. And of course, the food we made together was amazing! This is an experience I will never forget!

    Magical and memorable experience

    Michael_G, Jun 2023
When we first met Catia, she was so warm and knowledgeable as she guided us through the market place, and sharing the history of her beautiful city and all the best places to get our favorite items, then she so generously treated us to a cappuccino and we were on our way to her home to cook. What a magical experience to be truly immersed in the culture of Padua through meeting Catia’s family and hearing of her generations of cooking Venetian traditions and picking ingredients from her own garden! We started with a Venetian appetizer of chichetti, which were like tapas but each was a work of art. And Catia is an artist! A painter! Then we made homemade Venetian pasta called Bigoli on her grandmother’s heirloom pasta maker and then we made traditional tiramisu. It was organized and at the same time relaxed. She had so much patience for all of our questions and our messy spills and we truly feel like we made a lifelong friend. This experience was the highlight of our trip and one that our family will never forget!

    Italian Cooking with Catia

    Stephen_M, Nov 2022
Extraordinary day with on our small group tour and cooking class in Padua. Catia was an exceptional host, warm and welcoming, as she guided us through a wonderful day. Even before meeting up for our experience, she was in contact, giving us confidence about what to expect and reinforcing our meeting place and time. We started the day by learning the fine points of shopping in the busy marketplace, along with perspective on its history and place in Italian culture, as we gathered ingredients for our lesson and meal. There was also excellent explanation about the regional food differences in Italy. She then brought to her home and made us feel like family as she guided us through a fun and insightful afternoon celebrating food and its preparation. With some of the market purchases, she put together an amazing assortment of Venetian appetizers with her own special twist. It was a beautiful meal in itself. And that was before we even got down to the pasta and tiramisu preparation! Catia was an excellent teacher showing us some traditional ways of making fresh pasta and the tiramisu in tandem, offering valuable perspective to ensure success. Even with some cooking experience we learned a lot, tried some new things and had great fun working together. The results were magnificent, delicious and completely satisfying. The best part was that we did all of this in great company. This was an outstanding experience all around and highly recommended. Great memories created that we’ll likely think about whenever we’re shopping, cooking or enjoying food with friends and family.

    A must do in Padua!

We walked through the Padua market, enjoying the many different stalls and shops. Then we made magic with semolina flour and water, bucoli! Fabulous day, great host.
