Book early to get yr bearings

phil_r, Nov 2025
We really enjoyed this food tour overall! There was quite a bit of walking from the Old Town to the port, but it was a great way to see more of Nice and work up an appetite between stops. The highlights were definitely the Barbajuans, the Socca, and the local cheese — all delicious and a great introduction to Niçoise flavors. Our guide was knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts about the food and the city along the way. All in all, a really nice experience — would happily recommend it to anyone wanting to taste some local specialties while exploring Nice. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fabulous Food and a Fun Evening in Nice

Alyson_J, Oct 2025
This was a fabulous tour! 5 out of 5. Our tour guide Vanessa was the best. She was knowledgeable, engaging, kind and fun. She was sensitive to our mobility issues as my husband had recently hurt his back. We were grateful that the tour had comfortable spots for us to sit and enjoy the food and ambience. The food was delicious and plentiful. We tried many local specialties, and enjoyed some wine as well. We were very full at the end of the tour - and very happy. We gained an understanding of the beautiful historic area and enjoyed the evening energy of this area. This was a highlight of our time in Nice and will be a memory we hold dear for a long time. We have done many food tours and this one stood out as a favourite. We would highly recommend!

Great Food Tour.

Great Introduction to Nice Old Town Food

Samuel_B, Oct 2025
Our guide was very knowledgeable about Nice and the Old Town. He arranged for some excellent sampling locations featuring local foods as well as a full meal featuring the local specialty Socca.

Nice tour but it was off...

Carla_T, Oct 2025
Nice tour but it was off to a slow start. After the first stop to a chocolate store, the next stop was an hour at an olive oil store where we’d received a lecture on olive oil production. Barely a food tasting, speech was comparable to a lecture, it was uncomfortable standing for an hour and a bit slow and boring, the rest of the tour picked up a bit and was enjoyable.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your response. I’m sorry to hear that the beginning of the tour felt long for you. I spoke with your guide, and he assured me that the explanation about olive oil was given as planned, for about 30 minutes, not an hour as you mentioned. Moreover, I believe it’s a rather special moment, giving you the chance to meet a local producer who takes the time to explain the process. I understand that it may sometimes feel lengthy, but isn’t that the very essence of our food tour: to connect with the people behind Niçoise gastronomy? It’s a pity that you only mentioned one of the five stops you visited, but I assume the others went well, which I’m glad to hear. Thank you again for your feedback.

Awesome food experience

Sallie_T, Oct 2025
Our guide Lena was amazing she provided a lot of information about Nice at a comfortable pace. Each of the food destinations were delicious and a variety of specialties of Nice. Highly recommend this tour

Great for foodies

Not quite as expected

Robert_T, Sep 2025
Extensive walking between locations. Very small sample portions. Guide was not as engaging with participants

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear that your experience was not fully satisfying. However, we would like to point out that a walking food tour naturally involves some walking between the different stops. The historic center of Nice is actually quite compact, so the distances are relatively short and part of the overall experience of discovering the area and its heritage. That being said, we truly appreciate your comments and will take them into account as we continue to improve our tours. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

Highly recommended

Timothy_P, Aug 2025
Shanae was wonderful. The food choices were perfect. We even started and ended with dessert! I learned much about the culture of the city we were in and the culture of the food we ate. Highly recommend this tour.

Just ok - not what we were hoping for

Greg_M, Aug 2025
The tour was ok, but we've had much better food tours in other cities. The first two locations had very small samples and seemed more interested in selling us products. After that was something like a pizza dough dish that was tasty, but still not what we expected based on the price of the tour.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your feedback, which we take into careful consideration as we continuously work to improve our experience. We’re sorry to hear that it didn’t fully meet your expectations. However, it seems that some details may have been overlooked in your review. The first two stops do include tastings, but they are also designed to introduce two emblematic ingredients of Niçoise cuisine. You also didn’t mention the cheese tasting stop. As for the "pizza," it is actually a pissaladière, a traditional and iconic dish from the region. I will check with the guide who was present to ensure that the dish was properly introduced and explained, as it is usually very well received. We do hope that the historical and cultural part of the tour was enjoyable and allowed you to learn more about the city of Nice.

Great and tasty introduction into Nice

Victor_Z, Jun 2025
Terrific tour that combines cultural, gastronomical, and historical insights into Nice. Leo walked us around Vieux Nice and the Port and provided us with a fantastic glimpse into the culture of the city. I recommend this tour for an introduction into the city during your first day or two here.

Fountain is good landmark...

Aisling_O, Jun 2025
Fountain is good landmark for initial meeting place. Lots of samples of local cuisine during the evening. Leo was a lovely informed tour guide. Learned a lot from him as well as the other locations we stopped at. Great way to spend our first night in Nice. Merci!

Great Food and Great Guide

James_T, Jun 2025
The food in Old Town was amazing! Our guide, Leo, was friendly and very knowledgeable. We stopped several times for him to tell us something about the history of Nice.

Expensive for what it is but worth doing!

Paul_W, Jun 2025
This was an excellent tour conducted by the lovely Isabelle. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that was very easy to follow. We went to several places and finished in a bar/restaurant where we tried socca - the local dish. I didn't feel it was worth the money though as the food we sampled was quite meagre - but it was nevertheless an interesting experience. I'm glad I did it.

The Breadwinner

Michael_B, May 2025
Our guide Leo was very good in representing his hometown and the dishes at each stop. Problem was the up-and-down menu of food. It started well at a landmark chocolate shop, but then there was a drop-off at a tasting of mediocre olive oil. The food ticked up again with a tasty Swiss Chard appetizer fried in batter, but slumped with two squares of focaccia-style pizza. A fine selection of five local cheeses built upward momentum, only to have the bottom fall out when the "main course" was delivered at the last stop: two more slabs of focaccia-style pizza followed by the local favorite, socca, a chickpea-based crepe the size of (what else?) a pizza. At least the vegetarian dessert with a lemon curd dip carried the tour across the finish line a winner. Add the slices of baguette to accompany the cheese tasting and dough was an element at every stop after the first two. Less bread/crust and a more substantial main course, and Leo would have much more to work with.

This tour was wonderful! ...

Richard_L, May 2025
This tour was wonderful! Our guide took us to places we might not have found on our own. The shop owners were very accommodating and what we ate/drank was some of the best of Nice! Highly recommend this tour!

Awesome Food Tour

Miriam_B, May 2025
Great food tour! Everything was great, and they accommodated for one of our travelers who was gluten free. Leo our guide was awesome! Super helpful and informative with great recommendations!

Lovely guide & authentic Nice cuisine

Brooke_J, Mar 2025
This was one of the best food tours I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of. Of course the traditional Nice restaurants were perfect, but what really made it was our guide. She made everything AMAZING!

Fun Activity and Good Food

Jason_C, Feb 2025
It was a great experience. We got to try a few things we didn’t know about, and the host was very nice. It is a lot of walking, but the host told us about the history of the town and the areas we were in as we traveled. I would recommend.

The tour was a lot of...

Kalpana_S, Nov 2024
The tour was a lot of fun. The wide variety of tasting experiences - sweets, cheeses, wine, and local specialities - and the tidbits of Nicoise history made for a wonderful trip. Vanessa was an enthusiastic and considerate tour guide who accommodated our mobility needs and shared her love for her city with us. The many proprietors on our trip were also excellent.

Very very poor food tour

Janet_H, Sep 2024
Myself and two friends have been on numerous food tours throughout Europe and had lovely experiences but this was the worst by a long way. There were only 7 people in the group but the guide was disengaged and barely spoke in the first hour other than to introduce herself. She spent most time looking at her phone, following a map as she seemed to have little idea where we were going. She provided barely any details of the history or of the food. We spent a lot of time walking behind her in silence There were 5 food stops - an olive and truffle shop which was simply a hard sell, with the tiniest morsel to taste a take away for half a basic tuna salad sandwich a cafe for a fried item - I asked the guide if hot or cold but she didn’t know followed by small squares of pizza and onion tart A restaurant for exactly the same pizza and onion tart and a sweet pastry An ice cream it was simply awful and such a rip off

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Dear Janeth,Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. I truly appreciate your thoughts, and I wanted to take the time to address your concerns after speaking with your guide and gathering her perspective on the tour.As always, the guide began the tour with her usual enthusiasm and professionalism, aiming to ensure everyone felt welcome and included.Regarding your mobility needs, as you mentioned using two walking sticks, she shared that she suggested several times to adapt the tour to your comfort by taking more accessible routes and slowing down the pace. However, I understand that you declined these adjustments, preferring to continue as originally planned. To provide more clarity, I’d like to share some of your guide’s thoughts directly:"During the tour, as I always do, I engaged with the group between stops, sharing insights into the culture of Nice, its history, landmarks, and gastronomy. I also enjoy conversing with the group and answering any questions they may have. Unfortunately, this particular guest did not seem very receptive to these exchanges.Due to her walking difficulties, her group was often trailing behind. I made it a point to pause regularly so everyone, including her, could catch up and listen. However, there were instances where she didn’t seem to be paying attention. At our stop at Sini and Jiji’s, one of her friends asked whether the barbajans were served hot or cold. When I asked the waitress to confirm, another guest had already tasted them and noted that they were indeed hot. This seemed to upset her, as she expected me to have known this information beforehand. She then expressed dissatisfaction with my knowledge of Niçoise cuisine, feeling I hadn’t provided enough information up to that point. I sincerely apologised and reassured her that I would share more details moving forward, encouraging her to ask any additional questions. For the remainder of the tour, I made sure to provide more detailed insights into the gastronomy of Nice, along with other interesting anecdotes about the city. I also continued to stop regularly to ensure she could hear and follow along."Elea, your guide, is known for being thoughtful and professional, and I’m surprised by the feedback considering her efforts to ensure you had an enjoyable experience. I do hope that, despite the challenges, there were moments of the tour that were enjoyable for you.Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we always strive to improve where possible.Best regards,

Fun & informative

Eat like a local

Launa_M, Aug 2024
We had such an incredible time on our food tour. More food than we were able to eat and it was incredible getting the additional information about the city from a local. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to see the more authentic side of Nice.

Great tour guide, fabulous authentic food tour

Lea_L, Aug 2024
Patricia is very knowledgeable, helpful and made the tour fun. Enjoyed eating foods I never knew about.

Great experience. Highly recommend

Lisa_V, Jul 2024
Lena was a brilliant guide. Very genuine friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the time with her. It was a very personalised experience. Highly recommend.

Didn’t start, but poorly organised from the start. Paid in full no tour

Rashmika_M, Jun 2024
We didn’t do the tour, my mom had a recent knee injury which prevented us from doing the walking, the tour tells you to arrive 10-15 minutes prior which we did, waited in the hot sun, the guide arrived 20 minutes later, and with no warning or apology( had I not texted her we would not have known) the tour operator provides you with a picture of your guide before hand via WhatsApp and their contact details- seeming as we were the only people on the tour I would have appreciated correspondence. She also arrived and just sat looking at her phone at the meeting point- waiting for me to approach her. My mom asked how long the stops would be, and if we could get an itinerary so as to map out if she could do it, which the response was very dismal- I don’t know if it was a language barrier or what bud the tour is advertised as being in English too so I’m not sure why, it was at that point that we decided to cancel the tour. I’ve personally done many food tours around Europe, this was a very poor experience for me I must admit. Organisation could have been better. I was also told that I cannot get a refund ,even a partial one by the tour operator as all people had to be paid, which I find hard to believe, that a guide or restaurants are paid if no patrons arrived or tour took place.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Hello, I wanted to reply to you, especially for people who can see your comment. You are being dishonest because you started the tour on time and the guide was not late, and we have proof of this. What's more, you decided of your own accord to leave the tour after 10 minutes, telling our guide that you didn't want to walk (which is a pity for a gastronomic walking tour). Our guide even tried to shorten the tour so that you could stay, but you refused. Once you'd left, you wrote to us asking to be reimbursed, to which I replied that it wasn't possible because yes, madam, we have to pay our guide and our partners anyway, and that's what's called doing clean business despite your dubious behaviour towards us. We make every effort to do a quality job with our customers (the number of positive reviews is proof of this), which is why I find your comment dishonest and gratuitous, when the decision to leave is yours alone.

Lots of food, drink & fun

Linda_F, May 2024
Patricia was a fun and knowledgeable guide as we tasted our way around Old Nice. Highly recommend this experience.

Great flavors of Nice

David_K, May 2024
We had a wonderful Nice food tour with our guide, Lena. We highly recommend it to any foodies out there. On a fun walk weaving through oldtown, Lena shared a wide variety of very unique, Nicoise and French dishes. It was amazing experience and greatly enhanced our trip to Nice!

Come hungry and ready to learn about Nice!

Mark_M, Apr 2024
Leo does a wonderful job sharing the history and highlights of Nice and showcasing many of the famous foods of the town. We tried many different foods and sweets and were definitely not hungry at the end of the tour!

Bread-heavy and over-priced

Paul_T, Oct 2023
The group was friendly, our guide was knowledgeable, and the Old Town was a great place to walk around. Unfortunately, the value for money was poor. £75/Є90 per person got us a street-food sandwich, lots of bread + ONE SMALL WINE (!!) and some ice cream. This may have been a bad day as most of the reviews are very positive, but I've been on similar, cheaper tours in places like Funchal, Bucharest, Malaga, and this was extremely over-priced for what you got.

Response from Host, Nov 2023

Hello Paul, Thanks for your message. We love working with our guides, they’re excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. However, the food that you have tasted is not only “bread”, but typical dishes and products such as socca and pissaladière. We would like to clarify that they’re not types of bread: in fact, there is not a gram of flour in the socca, made from chickpeas. A full list of the products we offer during our tour is available on the online description. I’m sorry you were disappointed, but unfortunately, the cost of living in France is definitely higher than in the cities you mentioned.
