If you have an interest in the history of NY, you need to take this tour. Black history is what I expected, but my guide Larry took it all the way back to the Dutch! When i tell you, I was enamored with the facts and details that Larry knew about NY. The walk is less than a mile, but takes 1.5 hours. It’s jammed packed with the history of Harlem!

Hesitation Be Gone! This Tour is Worth It.

    Renee_R, Nov 2025
Larry was a wonderful tour guide. Great sense of humor and source of knowledge. Thoughtful guide, worked a break into the tour. The tour felt very manageable for walking, at 2.5 hours it felt like it was only an hour of walking while getting so much fantastic knowledge and getting a great sense of Harlem. If you think you know what Harlem is like, what its history is, what it has to offer now...you don't quite until Larry gives it to you! Top recommendation!

Experience the hidden gems of Harlem

    Ann_R, Nov 2025
Larry was a fantastic and engaging guide. He unlocked the history of Harlem that we’ve never heard about and showed us the neighborhoods filled with architectural homes and buildings unlike anything one ever sees or hears about in movies or television shows featuring New York. We’ve been to NY many times but never gone to Harlem, and know we’ve been missing out on a thriving area full of cultural gems and wonderful restaurants.

A journey through Harlem's rich history

    Lynda_W, Oct 2025
This walking tour of Harlem was great — easily one of the most lively and inspiring experiences our family had during our visit to New York City. From start to finish, our knowledgeable and welcoming guide Larry (along with his witty friend Adiana and her sweet pup named Harlem) brought Harlem’s Black history to life with storytelling that made every block feel like a living museum, and kept even our teenagers engaged! We explored landmarks that shaped the Harlem Renaissance, learned about the neighborhood’s role in civil rights movements, and heard stories of artists, activists, and everyday people who built and sustained this vibrant community. It was an education + a celebration of resilience, creativity, and culture. If you want to understand the soul of Harlem — its music, art, politics, and people — this tour is a must. I highly recommend!

    The Soul of Harlem...

    Sonya_G, Oct 2025
The Soul of Harlem Walking Tour with our guide Larry was an unforgettable experience. He brought the neighborhood to life as we strolled through Harlem's beautiful brownstone lined streets, admired vibrant murals, and learned about its rich history and cultural landmarks like the legendary Apollo Theater and 125th aka "two fifth" train station. Larry's knowledge, engaging storytelling, and warm personality made the tour both educational and entertaining; far more meaningful than a typical hop-on, hop-off bus tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to truly feel the spirit and soul of Harlem.
