Enjoyed this walking tour learning about historical buildings and architecture along with history of Jewish immigration and integration into México, however fact checking is advisable as number of discrepancies were present in factual history. I also sensed a bias against US and some personal political views expressed by Carlos that were not appropriate in this context of historical tour. He was considerate of his group abilities and allowed for questions.
Glad I did this tour, but would not take all information at face value, also note that it can run over 3 hrs, ours was 3.5 hrs., so be prepared.

This was the most comprehensive, educational, and engaging tour we have ever taken. Carlos has been leading this particular tour for 17 years and has been guiding for even longer. He is exceptionally proud of his heritage and is a wealth of knowledge on everything from the ancient development of Mexico City, its Jewish history, its rich art culture, and the political structure. We learned about both the Safadi and Ashkenazi Jewish diasporas to the City and how the Jewish culture evolved over 5 centuries. We also the Diego Rivera murals and even learned of the Jewish symbolism portrayed in a couple of them. That was an added bonus for us.
This tour was an excellent introduction for us on our first day in the City, and laid the foundation for everything else we saw in the subsequent days of our visit. Get to know Carlos as well. His story is fascinating.

We were comfortable with his repeated, anti-American comments.
Some of the history that he tells is his interpretation but stated as fact.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
I am very surprised that my historical and current statements of the factual mistreatment of Mexico by your country, not interpretation but facts, from 1845 to date, made you write that you were 'comfortable' with them but reviewed the experience with 2 stars. This shows incongruence and disconnection right from the top.
By calling my comments anti-American you are also showing that you believe that any criticism spoken was or is made to affect you. This is very far from the truth. I have never been against any country, especially the U.S.A., whose nationality should be called U.S. American, because by stating just American, you can be confused with many other countries, between Canada and Argentina.
All of the history shared has its own sources. They all have been proven as facts. It has been my principle for the last 25 years to only share facts. Please let me know what you believe are not facts to be able to prove otherwise, because if I pride of something, it is of sharing nothing but facts.
You may have even thought that when I explained that everything that I share are facts was made up!
You could have questioned me then and allowed me to back up my sayings, but you waited until now to take advantage that my hands are tied by this app and system.
I just hope that this experience taught you something of good.

He does an excellent job of creating a meaningful and vivid timeline of the arrival of Jews in Mexico

This was an in depth tour of the history of the Jewish people of Mexico City. Our guide Carlos was engaging and articulate in explaining the history of the Jewish people and it was obvious that this tour had deep meaning to him. I highly recommend this tour.

This was a wonderful Jewish history tour in Mexico City. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and presented the history with depth, clarity, and genuine passion. The tour was well paced and thoughtfully organized, blending historical facts with cultural and human stories that brought everything to life.
I left with a much deeper understanding of Mexico City’s Jewish community and its role in the city’s history. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Jewish history or looking for a more meaningful experience in Mexico City.

So interesting. The guide was able to answer all of our questions. He seems to enjoy the tour and guests so much which makes it even more fun. I was si impressed with what I learned. Highly recommend.

A great guide. He knew a wealth about the history of Mexico and the Jews in Mexico. We would recommend this to someone looking for a Jewish tour in Mexico.

They cancelled at the last minute due to a health issue, which I understand, but I have yet to be reimbursed from the company. They offered to reschedule, but we had tickets for the Freida museum the next morning and they onlybdo tours in the am, and then we flew home the following day. Can you help me get my money back?

Carlos is very knowledgeable. The tour was fascinating. He answered all questions with a great attention and with a lot of details. Highly recommended!
Wendy_G, Sep 2025
A very good tour that highlights both the Jewish experience in Mexico City and the general history of Mexico with an extremely knowledgeable guide.
Amy_H, Sep 2025
They canceled the tour 2.5 hours beforehand by sending a message via Viator, with little explanation, except there was a marathon that day (which everyone knew). They didn’t even bother to try to contact me through any other means and I didn’t see it until I was at the meeting point. I went to message them and saw the cancellation notice and asked for an explanation and got no response. They didn’t even try to reschedule and I have yet to see a refund.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Safety is our main priority. Jewish tour is our most sensitive. You had our enhanced security email and knew this could happen. We only cancel after safety consultations with the Jewish commitee.
Big crowds are the best excuse for the anti-Semitic and Pro-Palestine movements.
Do not complain about communications or rescheduling as you did not provide MEXUNITOURS with any contact.
Refund is our resellers responsibility and has been authorized from minute one. You should check with them.
We have now contacted all participants and can affirm that the only person that remained disconnected was you, as everyone else was rescheduled and tended-to, immediately.
Your lack of sharing contact means and willful disconnection made you be the sole guest to show up.

10/10 Carlos was incredible! He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. We saw so much and learned a lot of history of Mexico and Jewish history in Mexico. It was very interesting and interactive. Not too much walking all at once which is nice and he ensured that all our questions were answered. Thank you and I highly recommend!
Suzie_G, Jun 2025
Met our guide at the bookstore and had a sit down coffee and a snack while he told us the history of the United Mexican States. Following the conversation we hit the streets while he pointed out historical sites. Very interesting and informative!
Emma_S, Mar 2025
Carlo's tour focused on Jewish history in Mexico and throughout the ages. He was very engaging and knowledgeable, and spoke perfect English. He showed landmarks of Judaism in the old historic city and evidence of Jewish influence in the artworks of Diego Rivera. This has been a highlight of our trip with our high school age daughters.
Marcos_C, Mar 2025
The best part of this tour is a great walk around historic Mexico city. I truly had high hopes for this tour but it left me with many more questions. Prior to coming to Mexico City, I read several books on Mexican history I thought the explinations were basic and oversimplified. I would have liked the guide to provide more references and suggested readings to help build upon his knowlege of the material and Jewish history. While the history was lacking, the walk was great and the places we visited were new to me and I recommend it for the walk not the history.
Gary_S, Mar 2025
Very informative and interesting, great guide. Small group and personal attention. Not a lot if walking
Douglas_M, Mar 2025
The depth of knowledge of the tour guide. The visual examples that went along with the tour guide's explanations.
Yehudit_J, Feb 2025
A really special tour. Carlos is extremely knowledgable & engaging. He gave an overview of World/Mexican/ Jewish History
Eric_B, Jan 2025
Let me first start out by paying compliments to Carlos for his extensive historical knowledge of the Mexican people, their religious experience and his engaging storytelling. If you are looking for a 4 hour tour with approximately 1 hour related to the Jewish experience, this is your tour. Fairly pricey so I would imagine that is the reason for extending it to a 4 hour experience so some feel like they got their money's worth - but don't be mistaken - it is not a 4 hour Jewish Tour. It ends spectacularly at the Sinagoga Historical - a grand old synogogue worth seeing and supporting.
Jonathan_S, Jan 2025
Whenever I travel I try to book a Jewish tour. This was one of the best. Our guide was knowledgeable about Mexican history and how the Jewish people played an important role in the country's history. He also included his own personal history and opinions to give fullness to the story. This made the experience more real. I highly recommend.
Julia_B, Dec 2024
Carlos was an incredible and knowledgeable tour guide. The group was small and made a lot of interesting stops, including to see some Diego Rivera murals. Would highly recommend!
Ana_B, Nov 2024
This tour was the highlight of our trip. We did this as a substitute for the more usual Centro Historico tours, and it was the right choice! Carlos not only shared about the Jewish experience in Mexico, but he is also a fountain of knowledge about the history of the world order under the Spanish empire and the Inquisition and how they impacted Mexico and the Jewish people from the 1400s on. He goes beyond the usual telling of history to share well-researched insights about Cortes, Mexico City as the "World Trade Center" of its time, the history of the Church in Mexico, and the Jewish experience vis a vis all of it. He is a real mensch (a great guy) for telling these stories, and we recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!
Mike_N, Oct 2024
Carlos was absolutely great with abundance of knowledge and great attitude. The tour took us thru the centuries of Jewish history in Mexico and their relationship with local people.

Carlos was such an incredible guide! So so knowledgeable and took extra time with us as our group was small that day. Thank you Carlos, for imparting your insights into us. We are richer for having taken the tour! Samantha
