Highly recommend this Lyon tour with Joseph. We learned a great deal viewing the architecture and learning the history of Lyon's city center and its historic district. And by walking with a local this commentary came alive with our guide's love for his city and the life it has provided for him.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 4 hours exploring Lyon with Olga, and she truly went above and beyond. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s rich history and quirky fun facts, but she was also so patient and polite with all our questions. What really blew us away was her care for our experience outside the tour. She recommended a fantastic local Lyonnaise restaurant, called to make a reservation for us mid-tour, and even walked us inside to translate the French menu into English! Olga is fun, professional, and deeply caring. If you’re in Lyon, do yourself a favor and book with her.

Wonderful tour with Noemie in Lyon!

We had a fabulous waking tour of the city with Noemie today! We mentioned some of the things we really wanted to see before we left the States for our trip. Noemie contacted us prior to let us know all the particulars and where she would meet us. She was so knowledgeable about the city and pointed out some great spots for sweets and for meals. We loved having a local guide show us around. Would highly recommend Lokafy and Noemie for your trip to Lyon.

We travel from Paris to Lyon by train. We reach the meeting point by taxi to met Mimi our guide for the day. We started at the tourist office close to the Louis XIV statue. We passed the bridge over the Saone river to visit the Saint Jean Baptiste cathedral and then took the funicular to the Fourviere hill where we visited the magnificent church Our Lady of Fourviere dedicated to the Virgin Mary. We took back the funicular, and walked to the Gallo -Roman theater. Mimi was very knowledgeable and kind and helped us by taking some pictures of us. We walked trough the old Lyon. We couldn’t see the traboules , as the door was closed. We saw the puppeteer clock and visited the small Guignol museum. Also visited the Miniatures museum. Entrance to museums, funicular or subway, not included in the tour but worthy. Stopped for snacks, in our way to see the Fresque Lyonese. We visited the place de Terreaux , where we saw the Opera house, the Bartholdi fountain and the Museum of fine Arts. Mimi arranged very well the scheduled and we appreciate it, as we were there go a day trip. We took the subway to go to the Lumiere museum, which we enjoyed, and that was the last part of the tour.

Our first guide dropped out unexpectedly so our replacement probably had little time to prepare. So there was no prior communication back regarding what to expect (tour plan). We enjoyed this tour but reflecting on our experience it was overpriced for what we received. Our guide was very pleasant, personable fun to talk to. We learned about Lyon and her experiences in Lyon which made it worth while. But if you’re looking for more in information and depth then you might want to choose a different tour. We would be reluctant to recommend this to others l.

An exceptionally pleasant experience. My local guide was Noemie. Extremely friendly, polite, flexible and with professional knowledge. The three-hour walk was preceded by thorough preparation, during which I expressed my wishes and Noemie adapted them to our itinerary. I am grateful that Noemie introduced me in detail to one of the important sights of Lyon - Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière. In addition, at my request, she also agreed to introduce one of the larger cemeteries in the city. Noemie spoke interestingly and answered various questions. She shared practical tips and helped me buy public transport tickets. These three hours went by very quickly and were very interesting and useful. I had never been with a local guide before, but now I think I will definitely use this opportunity in the future.

We had an amazing experience with Paola as our local tour guide in Lyon. She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the city's history and culture. Paola walked us through the city, pointing out numerous places of interest and giving us great tips on how to experience Lyon like a local. Since we’re staying for three weeks, this tour was the perfect way to start our trip and get oriented. Her advice on local customs and how to blend in was especially helpful. Highly recommend her for anyone wanting an authentic Lyon experience!

Aurore greeted us in the City Centre and we walked old town Lyon with her for 3 hours. Prior to the trip she asked what we wanted and she visited every place we wanted. We tasted bakery goods, chocolate, beer, wine and of course cheese! YUM! We learned so much about Lyon and it's history. I would highly recommend Aurore, she was great!

Our guide was Joseph, he is Lyon local. He was able to walk us around the city to explore sites from 300 ad clear up to 1800’s. He explained the change in architecture and building materials. He was fantastic. We even sampled the local bread.

Disappointing Lyon Like a Local Customized Tour

We were extremely disappointed in our tour yesterday with Victor from Lokafy. This was suppose to be a customized private guided tour. I shared with Lokafy twice what our priorities were for the tour, with the last being shared 3 days before our tour. 2 days before our tour I was sent information regarding our tour, ie, where to meet and Victor’s information. I was told in this same message that this was not a historic tour and if that is what we wanted we should look for something else. We were also told to contact him, if he didn’t contact him. Why is it our responsibility to contact him when we are paying for this service? The day of the tour Victor showed up a couple minutes late due to a previous tour. He started talking about the history of Lyon. I stopped him and asked him if he read my email and he said he never received it. I showed him what I sent but he was not interested in taking us to our first priority stop which was the Halles of Paul Bocuse. He strolled us all over town and then left us on the subway to find our way back because he had another tour to get to. He did send us a map via What’s App to get us to the Gardens. The unfortunate part of all of this was that he gave us the wrong stop on the subway to get off. Luckily there were some kind people on the train who helped us. After completing the tour, I reached out to Lokafy to tell them what happened. Malena informed me he had been given our information although this was inconsistent with what he told us. They apologized and said they would look into it so it would never happen again. As I explained to her, I appreciated the apology but that didn’t help me with our time in Lyon. She said she would forward this information on to management. We will see if I ever hear back from them. If I was doing this again, I would stay away from Lokafy. They are from Toronto and have no way of knowing what the local tour guides are really doing in the cities.

Jessica was wonderful. She was super friendly and knowledgeable. We never felt rushed and she took the time to get to know us. It was a unique experience to have a local’s perspective but still an American take us through Lyon. Would definitely recommend her to anyone traveling to Lyon and looking for a tour guide.

We arrived at our hotel just before the tour was to start. Christine was so gracious and offered to meet us in the lobby. Because of steadily increasing rain, I asked if there was some indoor venue we could tour. Christine was amazing and suggested the Halles Paul Bocuse, the famous food market. This would have never been an option on a large group tour. We had so much fun and learned a lot. We enjoyed wine and cheese along with a lesson from the vendor thanks to Christine’s translation. I would book with Lokafy again.

We truly loved all the History that our guide Bruno talked about. We walked a circle around the city seeing different historical landmarks. He also recommended 2 restaurants that were absolutely fabulous. This was one of the best tours we have taken.

Non tourist walk in literally most of the major parts of Lyon. Great architecture, shops and food tips. The silk shop knew her and gladly gave an excellent explanation.
