Meet your guide near the Palais de Justice in the center of Lyon, where you'll be set up with an electric bike. It makes for an easy way to sightsee, giving you the option of pedaling or letting the bike do some of the work.
Lyon is chock full of historical monuments and buildings, and it's also the culinary capital of the country – which is saying something in a place like France. Biking through this charming city is a great way to see the sights and work up an appetite.
The exact route for this Lyon electric bike tour varies depending on the day, but with an expert guide to lead the way you won't miss out on the best of this UNESCO World Heritage city.
Pedal through the tunnel of Croix Rousse, a delight inside with colorful lights and music playing, on your way to the Lyon Cathedral. Hear stories of the city's history as you ride, seeing both Lyon's best-known sights as well as some hidden gems your guide points out.
Keep riding along the Rhône River, with its riverside path recently renovated to be more suitable for cycling, to the Place Bellecour. The square is looked over by a statue of King Louis XIV. From there, ride past the lake in Tête d'Or park, a popular spot for boating.
Take a break midway through your bike tour to refresh and reinvigorate with some of those famous local foods. Taste some locally-made cheese like St-Félicien, cured meats and a local pork sausage called rosette, sweet cakes and other morsels to share among your fellow cyclists. Wash it all down with a glass of local wine.
After the meal break of 30-45 minutes (depending on the tour), continue your tour through Lyon's Old Town, where you'll understand why it's a UNESCO-listed city. Admire historic buildings such as the City Hall, Palais St-Pierre, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and the stately Place des Terreaux.
Upgrade to a 4-hour tour in order to continue your ride up to La Croix-Rousse for spectacular views overlooking the whole of Lyon. This extended tour also includes a stop at the 19th-century Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, with yet more wonderful city views from its hilltop perch.
At the conclusion of your tour, your guide will lead you back to the starting point.

Our guide Shirine did a fantastic job leading our small group (5) bike tour. She was extremely energetic towards her job and made the tour very enjoyable.. Shirine provided lots of “Lyon” facts while adding a touch of humor…..The route allowed us to view lots of Lyons sights….highly recommend the tour especially if the guide is Shirine!!

Enjoyed the bike experience and our guide was very knowledgeable. Glad we added on the additional two hours.

Thank you to our guide who was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. The tour was amazing and the bikes easy to ride and we'll maintained.

I always like to get oriented in a new city with a guided tour. E-bikes obviously give you a wider range and this was a great choice for starting our visit to Lyon. There are two and four hour options. If you do the two you cut off the snack stop and the climb to the Notre Dame Basilica. I am glad we did the four hours but know that most of the real value is in the first two hours.
The food tasting is only on the four hours and it is not a food tour: just a stop for sausages, pickles, bread and a drink. For some reason we thought this was also a food tour so we had cancelled our dinner reservation. Our bad!

Although the bike tour was great, I wouldn't call one cheese and 3 meats at one location, shared with 6 other people a food tour. I was expecting local foods at more than one location
Heather_R, Jul 2025
No food but great tour and nice way to see the city. Would have like opportunities to try and purchase food esp given the name. Could have even been short stops with pastries or at market hall. Really nice city and great guide though. Nice seeing through eyes of a local.

Thank you for your honest feedback ! We’re glad you enjoyed the tour and seeing Lyon through a local’s eyes. We appreciate your suggestion about including more tasting opportunities and stops for pastries or market visits—this is very helpful as we continually work to improve our tours. We hope to welcome you back in the future for an even richer gastronomic experience !

We had an amazing morning doing this tour.
With just one day in Lyon, this was the perfect way to take in several sights in just 4 hours. It was pretty quick paced, but the snack stop was perfect and the ability to go into the Basilica was wonderful and the hill climb up was well worth it.
Our family had a wonderful time and we are so glad we did this.
Response from Host, Jul 2025

What a fabulous tour, which provided a great overview of not only the city, but the history as well. The ride was accessible to all skill levels, and our guide patient for all to catch up. The lunch break was perfectly timed.

Nate was the best tour guide. The morning started with setting us up on new comfortable E bikes, with helmets. I appreciated their commitment to safety. Lyon is a beautiful city, with miles of bike lanes and trails. Nate let us through the city and stopped at various historic viewpoints. The best part was sailing along the Rhône in the morning sunshine with the birds singing. If you’ve never done a bike tour in a city, schedule it on your first day, as you get a perspective on the landscape that is impossible to realize while walking. I give Nate and Lyon Electric Bikes five stars!

What a perfect way to spend the day, exploring Lyon on electric bike with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. The pace was good, we saw and learned a lot but it didn't feel stressful or too fast or slow. A wonderful selection of sites. It was nice to have the option to use the electricity of the bike for the big hill! Tour was in English.

My wife loved the tour more than I did. Overall a good tour that had some opportunities missed. The tour ended up being only 4 people including my wife and I. Another couple we did not know. There were two options on hills that we would go and since the other couple already went up to the castle the day before, tour guide decided that we would go up the other hill for different views. Didn’t like the decision and was not given an option to challenge it. Overall interesting places to see and bike through. Other than stopping at a restaurant to try cheeses and meats (not worth it in my opinion), it was easy to bike through all the places. Would recommend tour company provide complimentary water bottles at start of tour. It was hot that day and luckily we had a stopping point next to a food vendor early on so I decided to grab some more water bottles for my wife and I.

The guide was so passionate and knowledgable about Lyon. It was so fun to hear about the history and what a fun way to see the city. We missed our first scheduled trip due to traffic, and they rescheduled for a different day for us. What a great experience!
Britta_M, Sep 2024
The e-bike tour was great! Emmanuel was our guide and she was super knowledge, friendly and patient. I highly recommend this tour - the bikes have baskets so you can bring a small bag/water. It was a warm day at the beginning of September and the convenience store did not take cards for any purchase under $10. (FYI) I had no cash, but fortunately a sweet couple purchased me a small water which I filled up a couple times. The food tasting was very local and awesome. Traffic is a bit chaotic at times, to me personally, but overall the tour was very safe and fun.

Jean was a fabulous tour guide. He was very considerate of everyones riding abilities and made stops to ensure we were good. The sights were great! Tete door, the tromp ll'oil paintings on the building facades were amazing and stopping by the traboule was so interesting. We recommend him to any level group! He's a thumbs up for us!
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hello Donna, thanks for your review ! We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your tour with our amazing guide, Jean. 😃 We do our best to make sure everyone has a great time and learns more about Lyon's unique places. Best regards !

Great way to see the city! The trip takes you all over. The pace was great! Tons of places but never felt rushed.
These are electric assist bikes. You will have to pedal and know how to ride a bike but completely doable for those comfortable with bike riding. The assist was great for the uphill part.
Amber_F, Aug 2024
To be clear I'm rating a 2-hour ride without food that the tour operator swapped for the 4 hour ride I booked. Apparently I was the only one so they moved me to another excursion and refunded 1/2 of the cost. Bicycling around Lyon was super - the guide, Pierre, was entertaining and led a nice tour of the city. The bike lane infrastructure is great.. I recommend this tour as a nice introduction to the city.
Deborah_C, Aug 2024
It is amazing how much we saw of Lyon. Yannick, our guide, was fabulous. We enjoyed the electric bikes and Yan’s recounting of the history of Lyon.
Tina_P, Aug 2024
Bruno was an amazing tour guide, we got to hear so much information about Lyon from someone who is proud and passionate about the history of the area
Jennifer_F, Jul 2024
Amazing bike tour all over Lyon. Our guide Jean (John) knew so much about the city and it history. He was funny too. Very enjoyable 4 hr tour! Merci!
Jesse_D, Jul 2024
Great experience, got oriented to Lyon. Great historical overview, good times on the bike. Enjoyed the lunch stop also.
Arlean_K, Jun 2024
Biking in Lyon was a very pleasant experience--our guide was really pleasant and informative. The only disappointment was with the gastronomy food tasting. We were expecting several small stops with more of a local variety rather than one main stop. In addition, a walking tour we took the next day, supplemented this tour as it was quick pacing and not much time allowed for longer viewing.
Katherine_D, Jun 2024
A very enjoyable afternoon! Our guide was fantastic! Because of all the bike paths in Lyon it felt safer than I anticipated as someone who feels nervous riding in traffic. Perfect way to see a ton of the city with a short period of time!
