Lovely and peaceful trip up the Nile on a lovely late afternoon. Well looked after by the two-person crew who were warm, friendly and worked incredibly hard to keep the boat moving on a very still evening, while also making and serving Egyptian tea and taking photos for us. Highly recommended

This was a beautiful experience. Captain Sabri and his partner welcomed us kindly on the felucca. They made conversation and kept us company, but also provided us with space and time for ourselves. We were provided with karkare (hibisucs tea) as per the package. We would definitely recommend them to our friends. Nile on a felucca on a pleasant day - a must-do. Please note the Nile waters In Luxor are way more dreamier than in Cairo.

Lovely end to our Luxor stay

Phil_A, Oct 2026

Response from Host, Oct 2026

There is nothing quite like the tranquility of the Nile as the afternoon turns to sunset! Hearing how dedicated your two-person crew was—working untiringly to catch the breeze while serving authentic Egyptian tea and capturing those special moments—is the exact magic we love to create. Our felucca captains take immense pride in their hospitality and traditional sailing craft, and your kind words mean the world to them. Thank you so much for this glowing recommendation! It was an absolute honor hosting you on the water, and we hope to welcome you back for another peaceful sail down the Nile very soon.

Do not recommend

John_S, Oct 2026

No engine. We spent half the felucca a couple feet away from the surface going through garbage. We were barely out from shore and then put an anchor down and stayed stationary for the other half. Us and another boat were the only ones that did this. I absolutely do not recommend doing this. What a waste of money and time. It was awful.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify a few important points for you and future travelers: First, a Felucca is a traditional Egyptian sailboat, which by definition relies entirely on wind power and does not have an engine. This is clearly stated in the tour description for guests seeking an authentic, eco-friendly experience on the Nile. On days with exceptionally calm weather and no breeze, the river current can drift boats toward the shoreline. When wind conditions are still, anchoring safety in open water is standard nautical procedure to ensure guests can safely relax, enjoy the sunset, and sip tea rather than drifting aimlessly into commercial shipping lanes. Regarding cleanliness, our team takes great pride in maintaining clean vessels and keeping our river routes pristine. While floating debris in public river waterways can occasionally pass by during low wind, we strictly maintain the cleanliness of our own boats and operations at all times. We are sorry that the nature of traditional sailing did not meet your personal expectations, but we remain committed to providing authentic, safe, and memorable Nile experiences for all our guests.

The captain was great - very nice and accommodating. Beautiful sunset. great experience, highly recommended

Response from Host, Oct 2026

There is nothing quite like a golden hour sail on the Nile, and we're so glad your captain made it completely seamless and special for you! Sunset on the river hits different when you're in good hands. Thanks for the glowing recommendation—can't wait to welcome you back for another dreamy breeze with Egypt Lovely Tours! 🌅✨

Stephen_H, Jul 2026

Intimate and engaging sunset felucca ride with great operators. Felt like going on the Nile with a friend rather than going with a company. Loved the localized experience.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you so much for this heartfelt review! 😊 We're so happy to hear your sunset felucca ride felt intimate and engaging, and that our team made you feel like you were sailing the Nile with a friend rather than just a company. That personal, local touch is exactly what we strive for. Thank you for choosing Egypt Lovely Tours — we hope to welcome you back to Luxor again soon! Warm regards, Egypt Lovely Tours Team

10/10 would recommend if you’re staying in Luxor

Enrico_M, Jun 2026

Mahmoud was on time and drove us safely from the hotel and back. The boat ride in the Nile was amazing especially during sunset. Special thanks to Captain Johnny Depp and his other crew member Ahmed for accommodating us.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you so much for your amazing feedback! 🌟 We’re truly happy to know that you had such a wonderful time on the felucca with our captain Alladin ⛵💚. The fresh mint tea 🍵🌿, the peaceful breeze of the Nile 🌬️🌊, and the warm hospitality 🤗 are all part of the magic we love to share with our guests. Your kind words and recommendation mean the world to us 🙏💫. We can’t wait to welcome you again for more unforgettable moments, beautiful sunsets 🌅, and authentic Egyptian experiences 🇪🇬✨.

Avoid this guide

SONIA_D, May 2026

This was a private tour but guide brought his “ friend” along. He said the friend can talk to me. After sunset, he decided to drop off this friend to his hotel from the boat and then continue the tour. This added 30-45 more minutes to get to shore and back again to sail so he could end the tour. Then he had the audacity to ask me if he can pick up his friend from his hotel in car before dropping me off. I thought this was a private tour I paid for but he seemed to be working for his friend. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUIDE

Response from Host, May 2026

We are sorry you felt disappointed, but your review does not accurately reflect what happened during the tour. The person you mentioned was not a random “friend” joining your experience. He was known to the guide and was only briefly present during part of the sailing, without affecting the private nature of your tour or interfering with your experience. As for the short stop, it was made out of courtesy and safety while already on the route, not at the expense of your tour. The guide still completed the experience professionally and ensured you were returned safely. We always respect our guests and work hard to provide enjoyable experiences to everyone. However, describing the guide as “working for his friend” is unfair and misleading. We appreciate all feedback, but we also believe reviews should present the situation fairly and accurately.

gabrielle_r, Apr 2026

We did the private felucca with Abdulla. He was extremely helpful and nice with us. He helped us plan our next day in Luxor and organize rides and visits for us. I recommend the activity and this guide!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Highly overpriced

marta_s, Apr 2026

Everything went smoothly—the communication was easy, and the felucca captain was fantastic. The ride itself was enjoyable and well worth the experience. However, the price (€23) is highly overpriced. If you just walk around Aswan, you’ll find the exact same felucca ride for €5, and everyone offers it. Booking online is not recommended—save your money and negotiate in person

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your feedback—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We’re very happy to hear that everything went smoothly and that you enjoyed the felucca ride and the captain’s service. That’s exactly the experience we aim to deliver. Regarding the price, we completely understand your point. However, we’d like to clarify that booking online is not just about the ride itself—it includes pre-arranged service, confirmed availability, trusted captains, customer support, and a hassle-free experience without the need to negotiate or search on arrival. While lower prices can sometimes be found locally, they may vary in quality, reliability, and overall experience. Our goal is to provide convenience, safety, and a consistently high standard for our guests. That said, we truly value your perspective and will take it into consideration as we continue improving our service. We hope to welcome you again in the future 🙏

Wonderful Felucca Experience

Faith_W, Feb 2026

We had a wonderful experience on the Johnny Depp: Black Pearl Felucca Ride in Luxor. The ride itself was peaceful and scenic, and we were offered hibiscus tea, which was lovely. We enjoyed learning about the Nile and the surrounding history while sailing. The atmosphere was relaxing and gave us a beautiful perspective of Luxor from the water. We especially appreciated Mahmoud, our driver. He was reliable, professional, and so helpful that we ended up using his services for additional transportation during our stay in Luxor. That made everything much easier for us. Overall, a very enjoyable and smooth experience. We would definitely recommend it.-Faith

MalikMuddassar_M, Dec 2025

It was amazing and surreal experience. Our transfer was very easy and Aladdin was great guide who picked us up and guide through out. Tea served on boat was nice and guys operating the ship put their extra effort as there was no wind and open flap on our request. Overall great experience and we loved it

Punctual driver and good communication. The felucca driver was very nice, served us tea. Nevertheless, the felucca stopped near a wild “dumping ground” for about twenty minutes, making the sunset unappreciative.

Response from Host, Mar 2026
