Johanna and Niilo were great hosts who had really thought of everything. From warm jackets, firewood and sausages to ice barbecues. There was nothing missing. We saw the aurora lights once for quite a long time, which was really great. Johanna even had a camera with her and took great photos of us. Otherwise, unfortunately, we weren't very lucky with the weather but that didn't matter as we then headed out into the wilderness and Niilo made a warm fire. We sat cosily around the fire on a frozen lake and roasted sausages + drank homemade berry juice and learnt a lot about Lapland and the region. A really great experience. Johanna and Niilo are two great and nice people from the Ivalo region and know their way around. I can highly recommend this tour to everyone.

This experience was canceled a few hours before I was due to be picked up because of snowy weather. I asked for a reschedule for the next evening . However, even though I was promised a call back to let me know when I would be picked up, I was never contacted. I am deeply disappointed that I wasted time with this company when I could have chosen another more reputable company to view the aurora.

We were lucky to have a very friendly guide and the Aurora was very active!

It was an extremely valuable experience to see the aurora on a large scale, covering the entire sky. The forecast said that we might not be able to expect much. So early in the tour, the guide told us each time she found even if it was small-scale. The guide moved the minivan to a location where the surroundings were darker and it was easier to see the aurora, which allowed us to fully enjoy the Aurora as they became more active. It was also interesting that she served us blueberry juice and chocolate drinks and told us stories of local life.

Lovely authentic experience

We were a family of four (2 adults, 2 children aged 13 and 11). We didn’t feel rushed and could make decisions about when we wanted to move on. Effort was taken to find the lights - they were stunning and we felt very lucky to have seen them. Transport was comfortable. We were taken to warm up at the end and eat toasted sausages and warm drinks surrounded by reindeer. It was a lovely evening and we would thoroughly recommend it. There was the offer of photos being taken as the host’s camera was better than our own.

Best out of four tours we took to see the Northern Lights. Highly recommend!!

Our Northern Lights tour with Johanna was such a dream! We loved every second of our night. To start, Johanna was incredibly kind and accommodating via text prior to the start of our tour. On the scheduled day for the tour it was expected to be cloudy (blame Mother Nature) and she texted me offering to go a different day or to still try to see the lights on the original day. We rescheduled for two days later and are so thankful we did! Johanna took us to several different perfect secluded spots to see the Northern Lights, she has an incredible eye for where to stop to catch the beautiful aurora. She gave us some of her homemade warm fruit juice (MUCH better than the similar juices we received on other tours), made a fire, shared stores about life in Ivalo/Finland, and just overall we had great conversation. I went on four different Northern Lights tours between Norway and Finland, and our experience with Johanna/Aurora Hunting was by far the best. I strongly recommend you book with them for your trip to Ivalo!

It was truly an unsurpassed experience. Johanna and her partner made us live a very authentic experience, first driving hunting for the aurora that manifested itself in all its beauty, then with their bonfire, inside their reindeer farm. We stayed chatting by the fire, in the classic Sami tent sipping great blueberry juice. Truly special people, an incredible kindness and humanity. 100 stars
