We rented a boat for an hour, and it was absolutely amazing! The tour operator was super friendly and patient — they took about 10–15 minutes to explain how to drive the boat and make sure we felt comfortable before heading out. After that, my friend and I spent an incredible hour cruising around Lake Como, enjoying the stunning views and the freedom of being out on the water.
Everything went smoothly, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Lake Como!

Was a great hour. Never driven a boat before. The guides were helpful, easy to find. It wasn’t hours of safety features but quick overview and easy to do. Would 100% do again.

Such an amazing experience. Boating around the lake is a dream. The staff are amazing and so helpful. Before this i had no experience driving a boat but it was easy. We have done 2 hours which was nice however i recommend not less than 3 hours as its a slow boat. But overall its totally worth it

Such a wonderful way to end our trip to the lakes. Easy booking, great communication and staff were so friendly. Thoroughly recommend. I would say book 3 hours if you can for a more relaxed, slow paced trip. We did 2 hours and whilst it was amazing I would have loved a bit longer.

Renting a boat on Lake Como through Viator was amazing. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the map made it easy to find highlights like Bellagio and swimming spots. Seeing the colorful houses along the mountainside was like being in a postcard. The only downside was the ladder—it was too small for my husband to get back on the boat easily. Otherwise, a fantastic way to experience Como!

Amazing experience. Boat worked great and very clean/prepared. Easily added an extra hour to our trip on arrival with no hassle. Hosts were ready at the dock and very clear and informative with the instructions for the boat and rules of the lake. Such a great time. Highly recommend for a more personal and immersive experience.

Amazing experience, definitely the highlight of our stay on Lake Como. Our renter was very accommodating, and everything in terms of the boat ride went smoothly. If you are staying anywhere other than in Como (Bellagio, Varenna, etc.) make sure to do some research on how you would get to Como, it’s not as easy as just taking the ferry. We took the C30 bus from Bellagio Lido to Como Nord Lago, which departed at 7am for our convenience.

Super fun activity the boat was an amazing way to really see the lake as the ferry doesn’t really show you how beautiful this lake is. It was super easy for my husband to drive the boat and the company were really helpful

Our group of four had the most amazing time renting a boat on Lake Como — it was hands down the best adventure of our entire trip to Italy!
The boat was incredibly easy to drive, even for those of us with no prior boating experience. The rental team gave clear instructions, and we felt confident and safe heading out onto the lake. Once we were out there… wow. The views were absolutely stunning — postcard-perfect villas, dramatic cliffs, and peaceful stretches of water that felt like a dream.
We dropped anchor and swam a bit — the water was cool and refreshing, not freezing at all, which made it the perfect mid-day dip. It was peaceful, exhilarating, and so relaxing all at once.
This experience gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace, take in the scenery, snap beautiful photos, and just enjoy the magic of Lake Como without crowds or rushing.
If you’re even thinking about renting a boat — do it! We couldn’t recommend it more. It’s a memory we’ll never forget and one of the best parts of our entire Italian vacation.

Best thing we did in Lake Como. Bring yourself a few bottles of wine, bread, prosciutto, and cheese and you can expect yourself a fine ride getting lit with to the boys or girls. Our tour guide Inah was very friendly and accommodating. She was very informative and showed us how to work the boat. Highly recommend. Don’t forget the wine and a bluetooth speaker if you’re like that.

The three hour rental was enough time to go to Isola Comacina, hang out for a bit, and head back to port. Inah was a great guide and explained the rules clearly when we opted to drive the boat ourselves. When we returned to the port, it was chaotic because there were 10+ other boats returning at the same time to one small pier with multiple groups waiting.

We loved our private boat rental on Lake Como! Such a fun and more enjoyable experience than the typical rental boats or ferries that you can ride around with a big group. Inah was super helpful and accommodating guiding us through driving the boat, and was even able to extend our rental at our request (we decided to make it all the way to Bellagio!) Thanks so much!
