Had a wonderful early morning tour of Gion with Ikuro-san. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the spots we went to and expertly navigated the routes. The early morning start meant much less crowd, hence making our tour less stressful. We also had time for a coffee break after visiting Kiyomizu-dera. Thank you, Ikuro-san, for making my trip to Kyoto a memorable experience!

Excellent tour and very informational. Getting an early start is critical during peak tourist season; you will be thankful you did. Highly recommend; don’t be one of those tourists wandering around wondering what it is you’re taking pictures of…invest in something that will significantly enhance your knowledge base and experience.

Caleb was absolutely brilliant. A passionate history buff. It was worth getting up early to avoid the crowds. We saw the Gion Canal and Geisha District, Shrines, Pagoda and lots more. Definitely got our steps up for the day. Even had an amazing Coffee at 'Here'.

The tour with Caleb was really good, he is super friendly and made this tour a very good experience.
In general, its great to wake up so early to beat the crowds, and being able to walk around and learn about current and historical facts of Gion & surrounding area.
In this specific tour, since I was the only one, I appreciated the customisation where we would stop a little longer in shrines and temples, and Caleb would explain at the best of his knowledge the key relevant facts.
Would recommend this experience!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for joining our early morning tour with Caleb! We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of Gion in the early hours — it’s one of our favorite times to explore Kyoto too.
It’s wonderful to know that the private nature of your tour made it even more meaningful, and that Caleb’s thoughtful explanations helped deepen your appreciation of the shrines and temples along the way. He really enjoys sharing both historical and current insights, and your feedback means a lot.
We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again on another adventure in Kyoto!

Vincent gave us a great tour of the Gion. It was a lot of information, but he always was happy to answer questions. I would have been happy if the tour started an hour earlier to avoid the crowds. The Kiyomizu Temple was swarming with people by the time we arrived there. I thought the idea was to avoid the crowds.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thank you so much for your feedback! We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed Vincent’s tour and appreciated his knowledge and openness to questions.
You’re absolutely right about the timing—our goal is to beat the crowds, especially at popular spots like Kiyomizu-dera. We’re sorry the temple was already busy by the time you arrived. Your suggestion to start the tour an hour earlier is a great one, and we’ll definitely take it into consideration as we continue improving our experiences.
Thank you again for your helpful input, and we hope to welcome you on another tour soon—perhaps one even earlier next time!

Vincent was amazing. Taking his time to explain everything to us along the way. He would even answer questions that we had not even pertaining to the tour. Vincent loves showing his city and sharing the history with visitors. We would book any tour Vincent was the host for.

It’s wonderful that you felt so comfortable asking questions and exploring beyond just the tour content. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Vincent—he’ll be very happy to hear them. We hope to welcome you on another tour soon!
