Itinerary

Your tour begins with an early morning pick-up from your central Kusadasi hotel by air-conditioned coach. On the short drive to Ephesus, listen as your guide fills you in on the history of the ancient city, which was once the Roman capital of Asia Minor and at its peak between 1 AD and 2 AD.

On arrival, follow your guide and small-group of no more than 15 people around the UNESCO-listed ruins, pausing to admire archeological wonders such as the Temple Of Hadrian, the magnificent Celsus Library, and the Great Theatre, which seats up to 24,000 people. Learn more about life in ancient Roman times as you peek into the Public Latrines and Roman Baths, stroll around the Agora, and walk down the grand marble-paved Arcadian Way.

Continue to the House of the Virgin Mary, perched atop the Bulbul Mountain, where Mary is alleged to have spent the final years of her life. Head inside to see the shrine of the Virgin Mary, and perhaps drink from the spring, said to possess healing qualities.

Pause for lunch (included) at a local restaurant and tuck into some delicious Turkish cuisine, before continuing to nearby Selçuk to admire the Isabey Mosque, an exquisite example of Seljukian architecture. There’s just time for one more stop before the return journey – to the site of the Temple of Artemis, which was once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

After a full day uncovering Turkey’s ancient past, return to Kusadasi, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Found the tour very...

Found the tour very interesting but the material was a bit dry. We were a family of 5 with 3 older teens/early 20's. Tour leader knew his stuff but were told 'I will lecture first and then pictures'. Tour leader was VERY knowledgeable, just the information came across like I was in a university class. I think it could have been a bit more exciting and with a bit of humour if possible to keep the audience a bit more engaged.

Good, could have been shorter and sweeter

The trip is actually half a day. I would have given it a 5* if at the end of visting the beautiful historical sites, we weren't miss lead into visiting a leather shop, carpet manufacturer, jewelery maker and pottery shop, then pressured into buying products. This was labelled as Arts and crafts.

Ephesus trip

This trip to Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's home were some of the highlights of my trip to Turkey. Transfers, guide etc. were professionaly done, bus was confirmable and lunch was really good. The big downside of this trip was the stops at a carpet showhouse and then a leather showhouse where the items were been forced on you and were very expensive. If i had want to buy a carpet or expensive leather jacket i would go to the shops myself. if these stops were deleted from this tour i would have given this 5 out of 5.

Value for Money at Ephesus

Archibald_M, May 2019
Excellent small group trip with an excellent, knowledgable English speaking guide. It was a long day, well cramed with things to see and do, the main event being Ephesus. We also went to a carpet making factory and was given a was given fashion cat walk to model leather made into beautiful jackets. To break the day up, we had a lovely outdoor lunch on the lawn at a local restaurant. As I said, Ephesus was the main event and it did not disappoint, covering a vast area, as we walked among the ruins, given knowledge as we went. A well spent £35 for all of this, including a pick up and return to the hotel.

The tour was fantastic. Our guide was lovely and spoke very good English. We found out we were thr only two people on the tour so we had a private day tour at Ephesus which was incredible. Truly good value for money and the lunch was scrumptious!! Thank you for an awesome day!
