What To Expect
Make your way to the Batik Workshop Center, a short distance from the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers, downtown attractions, and a range of transport options. You'll learn the basics of painting batik and follow the process from start to finish: start with an undyed fabric bag, and use wax to create your own custom pattern.
Traditional Malaysian batik uses a technique called wax-resist dying that’s been practiced in Southeast Asia for hundreds of years, but Malaysian batiks have distinctive colors and patterns—try something traditional, or create your own design from scratch. Choose your colors and learn to fill them in, or practice mixing primary colors into fully-customized secondary hues. When you’ve completed the painting, remove the wax to reveal the finished product. After the workshop, you’ll have access to a nearby garden café and batik gallery, and may take home your creation, a 100% calico cotton bag that’s 13 inches (34 cm.) across.

Great experience! Really nice workshop and beautiful little studio - great activity to do. It's a bit of a hike out there for a solo traveller - so check the location suits you. I recommend message the WhatsApp number to confirm if booked last minute or through Viator - bit of a mixup with my booking and they didn't know I was coming - but still got a full experience and the hosts were lovely and very apologetic about it!

My granddaughter and I had a wonderful experience. We came away feeling that we actually knew about this craft. The teacher had excellent equipment to assist us in experiencing all the facets of batik decorating. We enjoyed the surroundings where could observe many examples of the craft. Could highly recommend this session as family treat for both adults and children.
