Itinerary

Your day starts with morning pickup from your Kathmandu hotel and a short drive by private minivan to Boudhanath Stupa.

Learn about Boudhanath, which is the largest stupa in Nepal and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Considered sacred to Tibetan Buddhists, the stupa often hosts dozens of worshipers who spin prayer wheels while walking around the site.

Next, continue to Pashupatinath temple, one of Nepal's most revered Hindu temples. The grounds include a 6th-century Buddha statue, an 8th-century Brahma statue, and skeletal images that guard the temple gates.

Then head to Swayambhunath, an important 2,500-year-old stupa that looks over Kathmandu Valley and may be the oldest Buddhist shrine in Nepal. The monastery displays colorful paintings, massive prayer wheels, and flickering butter lamps.

Stop for lunch break in Durbar Square, then go see Kumari Chowk, a palace with the human incarnation of the Goddess Kumari. Wrap up your tour with time at Kasthamandup Temple, rumored to have been built from a single tree.
