Itinerary

Your scenic Mt. Everest flight experience begins with an early morning hotel pickup in an air-conditioned car, so you don’t need to worry about haggling with taxi drivers so early in the day. Head to Tribhuvan Airport, collect your tickets, and board your sightseeing flight.

Admire the views as the urban jungle of Kathmandu gives way to hilly farmland and the enormous snow-capped mountains beyond. Your crew will point out the mountains you see along the way, including the enormous Mt. Everest itself, and many more of the world’s highest mountains. The airplanes are small and, depending on which side you’re sitting on, you’ll either enjoy Everest views on the way or the way back.

After landing at Tribhuvan Airport, return to your hotel by road. The handy early-morning trip means you still have a whole day ahead for other activities.

The pick up was right on time. Ram, our driver was an amazing person. He was very friendly and accommodating. He provided instructions as far as getting into the terminal. We were supposed to depart at six didn’t depart until 630 not a big deal but we didn’t know what was going on. Unfortunately, we got the back of the plane with the wing on the right, so we were fighting trying to take pictures without an airplane wing in the picture. I think there should be a disclaimer that says there is a possibility you get a wing in your pictures and possibly a discount for those who have to sit over the wing. Also, if you inform people that outbound, the left side will get to view and inbound, the right side will view and then allow people to pick their own seats. At the end, they gave us a nice certificate, but a personal touch would’ve been that a stewardess, who knew the names of the people and their seats (flight list), add our names to the certificate not just give us a blank certificate. That definitely would’ve elevated the experience. Overall though we enjoyed the experience and it was worth the money. I just believe letting the consumer know more of what to expect is important in providing better customer service.

This is an amazing experience and excellent value for money. Staff, particularly the two air hostesses could not have been more friendly and helpful. Make sure you get a seat away from the wings as they can along with the engines hinder your view.

This flight was amazing. Definitely a recommended trip whilst in Kathmandu. Driver was amazing and helped us through to get our tickets. My little one was car sick and he grabbed her a water and waited for us to sort her before taking us through. Communication beforehand was exceptional. This company looked after us so well whilst in Nepal even saving the day on our first day when our first tour company didnt turn up.

Terrible experience. Please don’t book this trip with Viator.

Highly disappointing experience. Viator is looting tourists in this experience as the same experience is available at less than half the price and just providing a hotel pick up and drop off doesn’t justify double price at all. Even after paying such a premium price I was thinking atleast I will get good view seats but to my surprise I and my partner were assigned wing view seats even though I specifically requested for good view seats while checking in. There was no action taken even after directly complaining with the airline and partner agency.

Good experience-the flight was delayed by one hour but this is common in Nepal. My driver to and from the airport was on time and very nice (Prakash). The flight HR itself was great-the flight attendants go around ensuring you know which mountains are which and everyone had a window seat. Definitely had a good experience and would highly recommend as it’s a once in a lifetime one.

Great service! Pickup to and from airport! They even brought us pack breakfast boxes. They only sell window seats and the flight attendants give you a paper showing what mountain is which and also tell you during the flight! Great experience!

If you can’t do the trek, this is a must!

Everyone gets a window seat. Port has the best view going and starboard on the return. Maybe starboard is best? The aircraft turns to port as you pass Everest. So maybe starboard is a little closer to the mountain than port considering the aircraft turns toward the mountain.

Do not book, the seat i got was on the wing and I wasnt able to see the view of anything for the whole Flight, I asked the flight attendant if I could move to another empty seat and she refused but went and sat there herself and was taking photos of Everest herself. Wasnt issued a partial refund.

I thought it was a great way to see Mt Everest and the rest of the Himalayas. The day I went it was cloudy and raining below the clouds, but once the plane was above the clouds, it really gave you the perspective of how high are the peaks. I really enjoyed it! 5 stars

Wow what a view

Wow! What a way to see the Himalayas-no climbing necessary! We got a bird’s eye view of a huge chunk of the Himalayas, including of course Mount Everest. The flight lasts 45 minutes, those on the left side getting the view on the outward half of the flight and those on the right side of the plane getting the views and photos ops on the return. Even though it was a cloudy day at ground level, it was totally clear above 5000 kilometers allowing us a perfect view of the top portion of all the peaks. A memorable flight you won’t ever forget!

This was a bucket list check box item and the experience lived up to my hopes. I will never be able to summit Everest, but to simply view it was awe inspiring. The crew on the plane made sure everyone saw the great mountain and everyone had a window seat. A great way to see Everest and the Himalayas

We were a little hesitant to book at first due to the price but it turned out to be fantastic and worth every penny. The driver picked us up at the hotel, took us to the airport, and then walked us to the door of the departure terminal to make sure we knew where to go and what airline to talk to inside. Be sure to request rows 1-4 so you’re not getting the prop or wing in your pictures. As has been pointed out by others, the left side gets the view of the mountains on the way out and then the right side gets it on the way back. The left side may seem preferable but my wife and I had a seat on both sides and preferred the right side view because you were closer to the mountains. Just know that the plane turns around essentially right at Everest so if you’re on the right side you need to be ready to look. Either way, all the mountains and the foothills are absolutely beautiful and this is the best way to see them.

Amazing Experience!

Having read some negative reviews on this trip, I was initially sceptical. However, would highly recommend this trip! The driver collected us promptly at the pre-arranged time and brought us to the airport. He brought us to the terminal door, and told us which desk and company to go to. In the airport, everything was very straightforward. Do request at check-in not to sit over a window plane. Everyone was given a seat beside the window. If you're on the right side of the plane, you will not be able to see the mountains on the outbound, but you are free to move beside someone on the opposite side of the plane. At check-in, you're provided a map of the mountains which the stewardesses identified on the flight by coming to people individually. Although a quick flight, it's definitely once in a life time - would highly recommend. Side note: the driver we had was really kind. A person from our hotel had been waiting half an hour for their pre-ordered taxi, and he brought her to the airport with us so she wouldn't miss her flight.

For the price of over 500 euros, it was nice, but not outstanding. You can't reserve seats, you get your ticket and seat at the airport, but it seems that there are only window seats. I sat in the second row, on the right-hand side, where you can't see the Himalayas on the outbound flight. Then the plane turns and the first thing you see is Mount Everest, I had the feeling that I didn't see enough of Mount Everest. Perhaps the plane could have flown a little further before the bend. The windows could have been cleaner for taking photos. The stewards were nice, but told us that they weren't that familiar with the other mountains, you get a map and a certificate. Transfer: Car very good, guide should tell people where he will pick them up at the airport or carry a sign with him to find him more easily.

You cant miss to see the Mount Everest once you are in Nepal

I have read few bad comments here, but for me everything went smoothly. Even though we had 20 mins delay, the trip was great. We were lucky to have amazing weather, and we could enjoy the heartbreaking view. Its true, the driver will only take you to the airport, then you have to do similar checking as other flight, but its not a big deal. Just confirm during checkin you have not-wing seat. But in out case, there was only few people so we all had nice seats.

Buyer Beware!!!

Please save yourself the time and money and DO NOT book this experience. I booked it a month out and paid $280. I ended up getting a window seat directly over the wing of the plane. As a result, my view and all of my pictures were obstructed by the wing. Himalayan Social Journey is a greedy company. They don't care about your experience, they just care about money. I'm still trying to get a refund after 2 weeks and nothing. I hope by sharing my experience I can help you to avoid what I experienced. This was marketed as a "scenic flight," but there's nothing scenic about the wing of a plane. Shame on this company for putting profits before people.

This is an excellent way to view Mount Everest with your own eyes if you are not going to climb it! I was picked up on time and had good weather for the flight. You get assigned a window seat, but can move to the other side to see when the view is not on your side. A once in a lifetime experience.

this was an awesome experience! the tour provider communicated very well. we were picked up at the hotel on time and took us to the domestic terminal of the KTM airport. the driver handed us a document with our reservation information for everyone in the van which had our airline and flight number for Yeti Airlines. Once checked in with the airline, we were issued boarding passes with seat numbers and then we went through security and waited for our flight to board just like any other flight with an airline. Once they called our flight to board we boarded a bus which took us to our plane. Everyone boarded the plane and took their assigned seats, which were all window seats so everyone had their own view. We were handed a map of the Himalayan mountain range and as we flew past the flight attendants were in the aisle pointing out each mountain and referencing the map. We flew out to where we could see Everest and then the plane made a 180 turn and we headed back towards KTM. If you were on the left side of the plane you had views of the range and Everest on the way out and if you were on the right side of the plane, you had views on the way back. The flight attendants were friendly and answered any questions any passengers had about what we were flying past or the Himalayas. This was a fantastic tour providing incredible views of the Himalayas and Everest. Highly recommend.

The flight and views were great. The only constructive criticism I have is that I was never told what airline I was flying with so when I got dropped off at the airport, I had to go to all of the ticket counters for airlines offering mountain flights until I found the airline that had me in their system. The tour operator should inform people which airline they are flying with and give them some instructions to follow after being dropped off at the airport so that the experience doesn’t include any unnecessary confusion.
