Disappointing Experience Overall

Firstly, if you think you will get anywhere close to the summit, you are making a big mistake. You really have to zoom in a LOT to get a picture, with the naked eye you can see Everest but it’s far away. Then, beware, our contact that picked us up said “due to the increase of flight costs due to higher fuel costs you need to pay our company US$40 extra in cash”, yet being experienced travellers we did our homework and discovered that actual flight costs have not increased at all since we booked. We hence told him he is scamming us. He then backed down on insisting we pay him. If you get told this, just simply refuse.

Nawa was an excellent guide that helped us at checkin at the airport. After ascending above the clouds we had an excellent view of the Himalayas and then the majestic Mt Everest appears. A site to behold.

We took the 1 hour Mount Everest flight from Kathmandu and it was spectacular. The scenery while flying over and beside the Himalayas was like we were in another world. Our guide Nawa Thapaliya and driver picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the airport. Nawa took us inside and did our check in. We had a long wait because of foggy weather. But once we took off, the magic of the scenery made it well worth the wait. Amazing!!

This trip is weather dependent so book early in stay. Clouds canceled trip on day we booked but our amazing guide immediately rebooked us for a different day. It was amazing. You get a map showing all the peaks and the stewardess comes around and points out which mountain is which. Don’t worry about which side you sit on as you will either see mountains going out or see them coming back - in fact I think we flew closer coming back. Flights are scheduled for 6 am but can’t leave until sunrise and there is visibility at airport so don’t fret about delay. We took off about 7:30

To be clear, the experience was great. If you're doing to Kathmandu, do this. This review is about booking it this way, because this wasn't clear to me when I booked our tour. All you're booking is a ticket you can purchase through the airline and a ride back and forth to the airport. Do yourself a favor and visit Shree (or Yeti or Buddha Air) directly and book a mountain ticket. Because of a little confusion with our reservation, we found out that the air tickets were about $75USD less per person than what we paid for the tour, and a cab ride to the airport is only ~$7USD. You'd be better of hiring a driver for the day from your hotel. Also, if your flight doesn't take off in the morning because of weather, the airlines will give you a do over to try again the next day. That doesn't come from the tour provider.

The pre-trip and hotel transfer service was impeccable. Flight crew on Yeti Airlines moved around to each passenger to point out the key mountains outside the aircraft windows. Although this tour refunds your money if the flight is canceled, it would be helpful in the tour description the months when the rainy season occurs.

This was an incredible adventure. The tour company was perfect. They were on time, courteous and informative. At the airport our flight was delayed an hour then they (Airline) switched us to another airline. However my understanding is this happens quite often. We flew on YETI and they were great. The flight attendants pointed out all the mountains. My 4 children said this excursion was the highlight!!! Highly recommend.

This experience was amazing! The guide was waiting in the lobby for pick up and explained the process as he is not able to go inside the airport with us. The guide also advised to inform the check in agent to avoid wing sit. This way we can good pictures. It was beyond what I expected. The guide was waiting outside after the flight. We used Sharee airlines. The flight attendants explained what we were seeing which was really helpful.

A must-do!

This is an unmissable experience. The flight gives great mountain views and plenty of time to take photos. We were told which mountains we were crossing over as we did so, which was very helpful. Best to have them organise airport transfer, since this is an early-morning activity. Only negative is the flight logistics - due to bad weather, my flight took off 2.5 hours later than scheduled. Be prepared to wait, but know it's worth it!
