Our tour with Mr. Yamashita was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and engaging and he shared so much fascinating history and information throughout the tour. His passion for Himeji Castle and the gardens really showed and he made the experience both educational and fun while taking the time to answer all of our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mr. Yamashita and would highly recommend his tour to anyone looking for a memorable and informative experience.

I have also had a very nice and happy time with you in spite of very high temperature. One thing! Very sorry that we were unable to see a Shirasagi bird ( a white egret) at the castle. I am just concerned what you have had for lunch. I hope you like it. Please do not drink too much Sake, okay? Ha ha ha! Yes, I sincerely hope that I can see you again, maybe in my city of Kobe next time, where I can guide you to the most major spot for Sake brewery in Japan.

This was a wonderful experience a little far off from the crowds in Osaka and Kyoto. It was a bit rainy so our visit to Mt. Shosha/Engyo-ji Temple was very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed the visit to Koko-en Garden and Himeji castle though they were a bit more crowded. Yama-san was a great guide who knew all the best photo spots.

Thanks to the rain (?), the spots were not so crowded and the green color of tree leaves was just amazing, am I right! The only thing I am sorry for was we could not see "Shirasagi" or white egret at the castle. That means you should come back there again! Ha ha ha!

Our guide Hiro san, was highly knowledgeable and a native of Himeji. She communicated with me from the get go and planned the visit according to our interests.
She met us at the station, explained the history even as we walked along the main road to get to the castle. She gave us a lot of facts on the construction and the history of the castle.
Hiro san then took us to the Engyoji Temple - a very serene space and once again told us history of the place and shared her childhood experiences of going to the place.
Hiro san was very patient, detailed and kind and made us feel very comfortable. She even dropped us back at the station!
Excellent experience. Highly recommend.

We had a great time Yama as we toured the area. We selected Himeji Caslte, Koko-en garden and the Sake tasting. Yama had great communication from start to finish, coordinating a seamless meet up upon arrival. From there we walked to the castle and started our tour. Yama was very personable and friendly, and gave us much insight into the items we selected. He guided us effortlessly throughout the whole day. He was quite funny as well. I'd definitely do more tours with Yama if we had the opportunity and anyone would be well treated with him. 10/10

Communication beforehand was amazing. Easy to meet guide at station. Hiro did an amazing job leading us all day despite the rain. We saw all 3 sights we wanted to and had time for a quick bite at lunch. Everything was clearly laid out before and during the tour (costs, itinerary, timing, etc.) We enjoyed seeing the castle, part of the gardens, and the Engyo-ji Temple. We learned a lot and it was so much easier having someone show us the way. Hiro was so kind.

Yuka was a very friendly tour guide. She was very accommodating and patient with my needs, researching what was needed to put together an itinerary that included hiking up to Engyoji Temple (Roughly 45 min up and 45 min down as the rope way was closed due to maintenance), and of course, visiting Himeji Castle. Despite needing to hike and do a lot of extra walking, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
She was able to answer my questions not just about the sites I visited, but of Japan, and it's culture in general, which was very helpful overall. Also as a learner of the Japanese language, during downtimes riding the bus to other sites, she was also patient enough to have a conversation with me completely in Japanese.

We had a fabulous full day with our guide Mariko. She first took us up the gondola to My Shosha where we walked to see Engyoji Temple and more. We even rang the huge bell by swinging a timber! Next was a delicious lunch at a Japanese restaurant. Then we enjoyed the castle gardens and tour through the grounds and to the top of Himeji castle. Mariko stayed an extra 1.5 hours with us and told us many interesting facts and stories. She took our photos along the way and suggested good places to photograph the castle. We were delighted to be able to visit during peak cherry blossom season. Finally, she walked us to the top of a commercial building for a final view of the castle nestled amongst the myriad of cherry blossoms. Mariko walked us to the covered vendor-lined street that led straight back to the train station. We truly enjoyed everything and thank Mariko for her great tour!

The guide is excellent and very knowledgeable of this tour. The sites we visited were just extraordinary and almost out of this world experience (I suppose it would be as the castle and areas visited were very ancient). We enjoyed it really well. Himeji castle is exquisitely beautiful. Himeji garden is beautiful. Mt. Shosha (where scenes of The Last Samurai - Tom Cruise were taken) is just as beautiful. We love this experience. The whole day is long and takes a lot of walking. We highly recommend this tour! Incredibly sublime.

We had a very enjoyable and informative tour of Himeji Castle and the Koko-en Gardens. Yama-San brought us to a local soba noodle house where we enjoyed a tasty lunch. We ended the tour with a fun tour of a sake brewery which included sampling some of the fine products. A terrific day in Himeji with a 5 star tour guide.

With Nishi, we visited the Himeji castle, which was spectacular! She pointed out many interesting facts about the castle that we probably would not have known if we didn’t have her. She took us to a wonderful Japanese restaurant located within Koko-en gardens and got to try their local conger eel and wagyu beef while sitting next to the window looking at the koi’s in the pond and waterfall.
She gave us pointers for where to go shopping and dining for dinner. We had a wonderful experience in Himeji with Nishi!

Norio was a very knowledgeable guide. From the very beginning of the tour, he started sharing the history of Himeji. He also shared some of the folkloric tales of the sites. He took us to multiple sites in the area and made sure to tell us about their historical significance as well as how they were related to the current layout of the city.

We visited Shoshazan Engyoji Temple, Kokoen Garden, Himeji Castle, and Egret Himeji Rooftop.
This is their second time coming to Japan, and they have been to many places in Japan so far.

Our tour guide was Hiromi and she was an amazing guide! We got to see and learn about the Himeji Castle, Kokoen Garden, and Engyoji Temple in Mt Syosya. My husband and I got to learn so much about Himeji’s history. We would recommend this tour if you have any interest in Japanese history and/or only have a day in Himeji. I am so glad I booked this tour because it seems that a lot of museums or tour attractions aren’t translated into English yet, so having Hiromi give us the tour was insightful and fun!

Why Himeji City has such a huge Castle with the big tower complex is one of the most interesting parts of Japanese history. Engyoji Temple has more interesting stories of the Temple's founder Shoku. It was exciting to share all the stories, and some of the Japanese techniques for making Japanese gardens in Kokoen Garden. You always listened to me curiously. I really had a wonderful day with you.
